So I met Evert and while the dude screams petty slimeball, I think I can count on him to give me back my gun and he did send some guy to help me take down the body and Call Me Mañana DID put in a good word for him.
Corrupt, but corrupt in favor of the workers. Sounds like someone reliable at least.
I gotta say, this game can be cruel to it's player in a way I can't put into words.
Like there's so much baiting by the voices. Like they emotionally manipulate you into not taking the seat but then you end up being railroaded into sitting down and taking the health loss.
I find it really interesting.
In land Empire seems like my kind of guy.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. The best part is that these "party members" are nothing but the detective's own inner thoughts. So putting points into them is really just an abstraction of the detective making a conscious effort to change himself for better or worse.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThere's a voice that tells me to kill myself. What a nice guy.
Probably should avoid suicidal thoughts.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. The most interesting part about the voices is that they oftentimes fall into Unreliable Narrator territory, and when they keep chiming in on each other, it really gives players a good idea of how messed up the protagonist can be.
I would definitely love to see more of that kind of stuff in other games.
It's pretty clear that the detective has a lot going through his head, at least when he's not drowning his brain in booze.
One wonders if it's actually because of this rather than despite this that the detective actually has a very good performance record (even taking into account shit like losing multiple police cars).

Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah this game really stimulates the feeling of being a mess of a person.
The multiple voices thing really makes this game stand out.
Like I said, this game can be cruel to its players in a way I haven’t seen in a while.
I just love how Kim is just an average dude but since he’s so helpful and understanding he pretty much skyrockets to my heart.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I'd love to see a Fallen London game that does something like the traits in Disco Elysium, specifically how they talk to the characters depending on how many points you have in them.
They'd definitely have to make Unaccountably Peckish be as freaky as possible to get the full experience.
The voices being inconsistent at best and self sabotaging most of the time really does tell me Detective Harry Potter is a mess.
I’m really picking up suicidal thoughts from this guy.
I think the thing at the start was a botched suicide attempt.
I really feel tempted to do a good guy run just to see this guy get something good out of his life.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Come to think of it, Disco Elysium also isn't too far off from a Cosmic Horror Story setting, given the Pale and all.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI’m so excited to see the cosmic horror on top of the existential horror.
Can’t wait to see how fucked up the rest of the setting is.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. The tie being where you find it definitely does not paint a good picture.
It's honestly quite an experience finding out just how much of a mess the protagonist is, and I mean that in a good way. This is the sort of experience only a game can bring, and it is glorious.

I feel that this game’s start very effectively simulates what it’s like to have a hang over.
I think.
I never have gotten drunk. Alcohol has never appealed to me and I think seeing the protagonist’s face convinced me to stay sober.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. One of the best parts is the police car. There's a slow but sure build-up to the realization of where it came from and whose police car it is, with Kim already having figured it out.
Disgusted, but not surprisedTheir advice is not 100% correct ever.
But its usually accurate to a point.
But every thought is an extreme.
Epsiritu Corps will make you have better dealings with fellow cops but, well, it will always say to back up your fellow police even when they're complete shitbags.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. In general this is my depression game :'D Game to play while depressed
reminds me of Planescape torment, but I wouldn't describe it as depressing
New theme music also a boxDisco Elysium is a sobering game, but it has enough sparkles of hope and barrels of laughs to balance it out.
You can absolutely make Harry a better person.
But part of what makes Harry a better person is also acknowledging he's fucked up a lot beyond repair and he'll just have to live with quite a bit of it.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. So the price for Disco Elysium is like £30,which is more then I'm willing to spend right now so its been wishlisted
New theme music also a boxYeah, I realized that the voices are kind of helpful in a roundabout way at best like Inland Empire, and actively self sabotaging most of the time.
Detective Harry Potter really is a mess of a person. First time playing, I got called the sorry cop by my voices and Evrart's file.
What did everyone else get on their first run?
Really? I got the final cut for 14 dollars on Steam.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.they named the detective..Harry Potter?
That's..an interesting choice of name
New theme music also a boxOh no, just a shitty joke I made.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.X5 Which is of course true to real life. Some burned bridges can never be repaired. The detective cannot even get closure from his ex. All he can do is accept it is over and that she does not want him in her life anymore.
Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah no it's a joke, you find out pretty quick his first name is Harry, later you learn his full name is Harrier DuBois

Whichever you find interesting, really, since there's quality content in all of them. They're like a combination of skills and party members, and the more points you put in the more they'll tend to chime in, so roll with whoever you like and want to hear from and see what happens.
