I’m still holding out for Truxton. But that sounds like a good list.
Good thing M2 is doing the software job. I've heard the plug-n-play SEGA consoles already on the market have terrible emulation.
Apparently the Japanese version will contain the multiple regional variations of certain games, like Castlevania: Bloodlines. That's neat.
Here's hoping for Sonic 3 & Knuckles being on there.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?More details on the Genesis version:
Essentially:
- Localized version will have two controllers with 3 buttons rather than 6 buttons. (Although there's USB ports, so maybe 8BitDo will be your friend to back you up with 6 button controllers.)
- $80 USD
- 40 pre-loaded games, but the 10 games announced for now are:
- Ecco the Dolphin
- Castlevania Bloodlines
- Space Harrier II
- Shining Force
- Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (though we all know it's Puyo Puyo, right?)
- Toejam & Earl
- Comix Zone
- Sonic 1
- Altered Beast
- Gunstar Heroes

I'll be surprised if all four 16-bit Sonic games aren't on every version.
Ukrainian Red CrossI've heard S3&K is buried under legal issues that could prevent it from being rereleased. Something about the music and unpaid composers.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Needs Phantasy Star IV, both Shining Force games, Shining In the Darkness and Shining Force CD to even be worth considering on my end.
Considering one of the uncredited composers with the rights is the Michael Jackson estate, I can only wonder how bad it is.
Probably won't be there, but Alisia Dragoon would be fantastic. Also if they could throw in their localized Monster World 4, that would be really cool. Especially since the fan translation was kind of garbage and is now outdated.
Sega confirms it will be €80/£70, and the European version will three-button rather than six-button controllers. The game lineup looks to be the same as the American version.
Ukrainian Red CrossIs anyone bummed about not getting the 6-button controller or not really?
What would you need 6 buttons for in a Genesis game anyway, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat?
I suspect Mortal Kombat won't be there anyway, since it would likely bump the age rating up to 18. Street Fighter is questionable, since that is already on the SNES Classic Mini, and the SNES version is generally considered the superior version.
Hmm, looking around the Internet it appears that Street Fighter II is the only game that actually needs teh 6-button controller, and all the other compatible games can be played with just three buttons.
Ukrainian Red Cross10 more games got revealed for the Genesis Mini:
- Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse
- World of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse & Donald Duck
- Thunder Force III
- Super Fantasy Zone
- Shinobi III
- Streets of Rage 2
- Earthworm Jim
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2
- Contra: Hard Corps
- Landstalker
Japanese Mega Drive Mini gets:
- Contra: The Hard Corps
- Dyna Brothers 2 Special
- Game no Kanzume Otokuyou
- The Hybrid Front
- Landstalker
- M.U.S.H.A. (!!!)
- Thunder Force III
- Streets of Rage 2
- Super Fantasy Zone
- World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck
Mark Bussler is probably raging to the heavens...as am I.

What?! They get MUSHA and we don’t?
What gives?
Wow, I would not have expected Disney games.
It's possible we'll still get MUSHA. Remember, when it was first announced, the Japanese system had Sonic 2 and the PAL system had Sonic 1; as of today, the PAL version has Sonic 2 as well.
Also, hooray for more Probotector!
Ukrainian Red CrossContra Hard Corps and M.U.S.H.A are the only games that could convince me to get this so they better both be on it.
I mean there's Streets of Rage 2 but it's getting a sequel soon and I already played the 3DS version to death and back...

I’m hoping they get MUSHA then.
And Truxton.
Further thought.
The fact that we're specifically getting Probotector (Mega Drive) rather than Contra: Hard Corps is interesting. In the days of CRT, Nintendo's consoles were designed so that games would have to be recoded for PAL, but most of Sega's were not. If you're some sort of pirate, you'll see that the majority of Master System and Mega Drive ROMs are the same across all regions, and Sega accounted for the lower refresh rate of PAL TVs by underclocking the CPU. This means that you can play an NTSC game on a PAL console and vice versa, albeit in black and white due to the colour portion of the signal being incompatible.
However, a few games were optimised for PAL, including Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which sped up the music and action to better match the NTSC version. Since Sega is apparently not just giving us the NTSC ROMs as Nintendo did, I wonder if they'll have a 50Hz mode so we can choose between playing the games as they were intended or as we remember them.
Ukrainian Red Cross10 more games got confirmed for the Genesis Mini!
They are:
- Mega Man: The Wily Wars
- Street Fighter II: Special Championship Edition
- Ghouls 'n Ghosts
- Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
- Beyond Oasis
- Golden Axe
- Phantasy Star IV: The End Of The Millennium
- Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball
- Vectorman
- Wonder Boy in Monster World
For the uninitiated, Mega Man: The Wily Wars is a compilation of the first 3 Mega Man games made specifically for the Genesis. It also features a "Wily Tower" mode that unlocks when you beat all 3 games that featured 3 then-new levels with 3 bosses called the Genesis Unit.
The Wily Wars is also infamous for its lack of availability in the States. While it got cartridge releases in Japan and Europe, it was only ever available in the United States as a part of the Genesis' long-discontinued game service, Sega Channel.
So if The Wily Wars is on the Genesis Mini…then holy moley.
EDIT: Still can't get over not having 6 buttons? Retro-Bit Gaming has got your back!

Ugh, Genesis VF 2. They port it to everything despite it being a case of missing the point.
Can’t we trade it for Leynos or MUSHA?

...No MUSHA for the Genesis Mini?
I made a hashtag and everything just so we get MUSHA for the Genesis Mini and it still got us bupkis!
Incidentally, there was a Tetris for the Genesis? And a port of Darius? As in, the first one? Wha...?
From what I can gather the Tetris port was fully ready to go, but licensing issues halted it before it came out and very few copies were produced or shipped as a result- there's only around five to ten cartridges known to exist.

Only if it includes the fan translation of Shining Force III, so we can get the trilogy in English.
