Mario Movie by Illumination

Ummmmm I dont know if that's good or bad and what it says about Nintendo.

It says they're focused on game-play...not what characters are playable.

I’m amazed at the lack of mention for Super Mario Bros 2. Yeah its all just a dream, still doesn’t ignore the fact that it was a main Mario game where Peach didn’t serve the damsel role at all.

I didn't bring it up because reasons.

What are these reasons? Is it because the game is a palette swap of Doki Doki Panic and the real Super Mario Bros 2 is the same as the original but harder?

Lest we get into the hair-splitting over whether Super Mario Bros. 2 is a real Mario game or not, I'll just say I love it and leave it at that.

I honestly wouldn't worry too much about canon for the Mario series, because I think it's pretty obvious that canon is more of a generalized concept for the series. I always got the sense that there are several parallel 'verses in the Mario series (and that theory got a pretty big boost in my mind when Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam came out), and this movie will be yet another one, and just how much introduced from this movie becomes "canon" (i.e. canonized with respect to other 'verses) is really going to depend on just how much it works with everything else.

So even if this animated film turns out to be a bigger turkey than Super Mario Bros the live-action film ever was, I'm just going to apply the MST3K Mantra. Oh, and play more Super Mario Odyssey, which managed to be way more fun than I anticipated.

At least, even if the movie isn't good, I hope it will be fun.

Peach doesn't need to be "badass" to be a good character. In fact, she can be a damsel in distress and still be a good character, as seen in Paper Mario and its sequel.

Personally, I like her just as she is—a kind, gentle Princess Classic.

Ditzy Princess...

Sassy Princess...

They'd better not try to make Peach sassy.

She only lets out any kind of sass when she gets mad, don't even worry.

Like that's gonna happen.

They'll probably make Princess Daisy the sassy one.

That's fine because Daisy is the sassy one.

Which begs the question: are we even going to see Daisy (and other secondary characters like Donkey Kong, Wario, and Rosalina)? Or is it Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Toad, and maybe Yoshi all the way?

It's Mario movie so it will probably Bowser,Peach,Mario,Luigi,Toad

Characters like Daisy,Roslina are unlikely to appear I think

I thought about it and the names "Peach and Daisy" remind me a lot of Wedding Peach. I wonder if Nintendo will give Peach and Daisy a new sister named Lily.

They aren't sisters...

I don't think they plan on creating anymore named princesses...

Ok, a new Princess named Lily. LOL. I know they wont but its fun to think about.

I'm a bit dismayed that all the different kingdoms in Super Mario Odyssey didn't have their own fruit-themed princess.

Kingdom might as well be a stand-in for Country...

It's not really like Mario games follow a strict naming scheme, so that's honestly not surprising.

This is an Illumination movie. I wouldn't put it past them to put Wario here.
