Partially fixed up the CNN one by removing the sentence claiming the poster was racist.
We cut Memes.Donald Trump because (a) many of the memes were just making fun of someone (in that case, it was almost all toward Trump), (b) one-word memes are really significant or attributable to one individual (e.g. many people, including academics, say "yuge" and "bigly" has been around for a long time), and (c) they don't add anything and tend to be politically charged ROCEJ-breaking entries.
I think that entire page could just be cut, if not the more recent "era" folders be axed. This was discussed a little bit in the ROCEJ thread
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyThe doxing incident is... not really a doxing incident. At all. The meme being spread is indeed that it is, although I believe that discussions on whether blatant attempts at disinformation should be allowed on this site is something for senior management to decide.
On Monday, K File attempted to contact the man by email and phone but he did not respond. On Tuesday, "Han A**holeSolo" posted his apology on the subreddit /The_Donald and deleted all of his other posts.
"First of all, I would like to apologize to the members of the reddit community for getting this site and this sub embroiled in a controversy that should never have happened," he wrote. "I would also like to apologize for the posts made that were racist, bigoted, and anti-semitic. I am in no way this kind of person, I love and accept people of all walks of life and have done so for my entire life. I am not the person that the media portrays me to be in real life, I was trolling and posting things to get a reaction from the subs on reddit and never meant any of the hateful things I said in those posts. I would never support any kind of violence or actions against others simply for what they believe in, their religion, or the lifestyle they choose to have. Nor would I carry out any violence against anyone based upon that or support anyone who did." The user further apologized for calls for violence against the press in his statement on Reddit.
"The meme was created purely as satire, it was not meant to be a call to violence against CNN or any other news affiliation," he wrote. "I had no idea anyone would take it and put sound to it and then have it put up on the President's Twitter feed. It was a prank, nothing more. What the President's feed showed was not the original post that was posted here, but loaded up somewhere else and sound added to it then sent out on Twitter. I thought it was the original post that was made and that is why I took credit for it. I have the highest respect for the journalist community and they put their lives on the line every day with the jobs that they do in reporting the news."
The apology has since been taken down by the moderators of /The_Donald subreddit.
After posting his apology, "Han A**holeSolo" called CNN's K File and confirmed his identity. In the interview, "Han A**holeSolo" sounded nervous about his identity being revealed and asked to not be named out of fear for his personal safety and for the public embarrassment it would bring to him and his family.
CNN is not publishing "Han A**holeSolo's" name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.
CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.
They have a lot of leverage to keep this 40 year old from posting more of that, but doxing this isn't, short of retroactively declaring all geolocation through phots and videos as doxing.
Also, racist might just be an understatement.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotI brought this up in the ROCEJ thread (link), but I think it's worth mentioning here as well.
So, ~Laptop Guy added an alleged meme to the Memes.US Politics page for something that happened yesterday. There's literally nothing "meme" in the example. It's clearly ROCEJ-breaking and needs to be burned completely, but I'm wondering if the page should be locked for a while so that this clean-up project can work through the examples.
EDIT: The example has already been removed. But nobody in the ROCEJ thread has responded.
The question remains concerning whether or not the page should be locked so we can clean it up.

Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyYeah, that is extremely off. And how do we know that something uttered less than a few days ago is a meme?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo I checked the history of Memes.US Politics and the first thing in there is this:
- Pedophile > Democrat.Explanation
I'm gonna call bullshit on this being a meme. This was added by Heavyman99 (edit history).
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyIt is now but cinders.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyI don't know if this cleanup thread has anything left to tackle. Please advise.
Add a title. Stay safe; stay well. Live beyond… memento vivere! Should intermittent vengeance arm again his red right hand to plague us?Since we have the Memetic X Cleanup thread as well as the ROCEJ thread, this thread can be safely retired. I would prefer the latter thread due to the political nature.

Looking over the political meme page I noticed there needs to be a cleanup of the recent political memes entered (Election, Trump Era), or at least an attempt to invoke Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgement. Many of the listed items are too biased one way to be in line with this, and a lot of the things entered as "memes" were just current events or things that weren't really memetic at all. In addition, there is a huge bias in these particular sections as most of the memes about Trump/his cabinet/other Republican candidates are generally mocking and negative while memes for leftists are either positive or, if negative, rationalized in the comments.
Just going to throw a few out there that I think need to be removed/reworked:
If anyone would like to look up and down the page for examples of the Rule Of Cautious Editing Judgement in action, that would be greatly appreciated. As for now, I just think that the Politics meme pages in general should be more thoroughly reviewed due to the amount of Flame Bait and agenda-pushing, and although I understand that someone is going to be offended in general when you're dealing with the subject, there should be more of an effort to make sure memes that reflect each viewpoint get the same amount of representation.
