But not always. If a Propaganda Piece distorts things purposefully, we don't call it good writing just because it was on purpose.

Actually, you could, if you assume something is good if it succeeds at it's job. If the propaganda piece properly does it's job, you could call it well-written on a technical level.

But that's a tangent. In more important news, I think the issue is that without assuming these things are good, the tropes would be complaining.

Fair. I just feel that the wording seems almost to go too far and say "purposeful Artistic License is always good and always better than showing the actual facts"

I'm not sure if the thread made much progress, despite the decision being made about two years ago. To be honest, I think a Long-term Project thread would be better suited to this than a TRS thread. That's what ended up happening to Nightmare Fuel.
