Tropes comes awake in a dark room.

Well, just a suggestion, maybe the is the kind of situation where panicking is appropriate!

"C'mon, man, don't blame this on me!" calls out a vaguely cat-like creature in a uniform cowering in the corner.

The large, crab-clawed fellow, who is indeed Tamatoa in case there was ever any doubt, picks up Tropes, goes into a storage room, stuffs him into a crate and leaves.
"Okay, Tropes, think...how can I get out of this? Magic? Science? Something else? Wait, I'm still a Pikachu, and Taco says they have electricity powers...I know!"
Cut to the storage room up in flames. Tropes barely manages to crawl out alive.
"Not what I planned, but I guess it works."
Just as he's heading for the exit, Tropes steps on something small, boxy and metal. It lets out an extremely loud, metallic-sounding version of "Jingle Bells" and an "OH YES!". Tamatoa, hearing the music, enters the room and starts searching, while I examine the object.
"What the...they have Christmas Mettaton action figures? I mean, I guess it makes sense...but where did it come from?"
Cut back to the other tropers.

Junon: Damn the Fire Lord! Why did they have to make the first boss so hard?!

Monsters all around the town stare and the tropers and whisper to each other. Eventually, a very annoyed-looking Undyne shows up.
Yeah, okay, okay. LISTEN, GET OUT OF HERE, YA PUNKS! GET BACK IN YOUR FANCY BOX AND LEAVE US MONSTERS ALONE IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YA!
The tropers would be wise to listen to her.
