That's fine. Love strings are quite rare, because they signify soulmates, (pink is temporary crushes or infatuation), and I'll make sure to ask players before have Mirielle use it on P Cs, but I just want to RP her interaction with people, knowing their fates to a certain degree.

[up][up] Yes - I made an error regarding tone and writing in general specific to one particular character, but after contemplating, writing more, and learning more, I believe such incidents should be behind me. And thus, yes I am fine with that. I hope I do not let you or any of my fellow roleplayers down.

The fact Valerie's light-based powers manifest primarily as fire-that's-not-actually-fire is something I'd rather stick with. Going with straight light manipulation just feels a little too...generic?

So I'm thinking that her ability to generate the trident (or other weaponry, or possibly objects in general) comes about from her congealing her not-actually-fire into something solid, as well as a similar deal for her eventual lasers.

I appreciate the kind words, and as for her friend, I'd like to see where you take her. It'd make sense if she ended up a familiar stranger of sorts, so go for it.

I'm struggling to look for a decent leitmotif for Dan — I may have to resort to the One Punch Man soundtrack again. Dammit.

Posting a WIP. If anyone is amiss, by all means tell me.

  • Name: Isaac Clarke
    • Do you like your name? It gets the job done, though it might be cool to be named something like, I dunno. "Razor." "Skull." "Big Weed City."
  • Age: 17
    • What do you wanna be when you grow up: "A drug dealer."
  • Appearance: Isaac Clarke can use his powers to look however he wants. But completely unaltered, he looks like a tall, lanky teenage boy with a pale complexion and dark rings under his eyes. He never was into physical activity much, outside of walking to the video game store. Atop his head, he has a mop of black hair. He currently stands at 6'2 and weighs 170 pounds. handsome
    • Crush: "I would make love to Hans for days on end."
  • Personality: Isaac is a fairly good natured, if unambitious young man. He recently moved to town. He just wants people to play video games and smoke pot with.
    • It's Saturday night, and your parents are out of town. What do you do? "Masturbate in the living room."
  • Backstory:
    • What do your parents do for a living? "Mom's a dentist, dad's a lawyer. We're well off."
  • Powers:
    • Shapeshifting: Isaac can shape his body at will, growing, moving, and reabsorbing body parts as he wishes. He can turn any tissue in his body into any other kind of tissue and use it to create a wide variety of appendages, be it tentacles or bone armor or really big muscular arms or some nice scary claws. He's limited to tissues the human body can create, and he has to stay the same weight. Presently, he is unable to replicate brain cells. Also, trying to manipulate a lot of limbs at once is hard. He can do 4 at a time with accuracy, but past that he gets super uncoordinated. He can also use it to alter his appearance, though if he wants to copy someone he'll either need to know their appearance really well or have a photo if he wants to be convincing. He can otherwise make himself look like whatever he feels like.
    • He can also store nutrients in an extremely dense form, and absorb them very fast. He doesn't really get "full" so much as just "not hungry." He could eat enough to weigh 700 pounds, and he'll still look like a gangly teenager.
    • He can absorb nutrients the old fashioned way, by eating them with his mouth. But he can also absorb them into his flesh, which is much quicker. This means, for example, that if he slices an arm off, he can sort of push it back into his body, and use the biomass from it to grow a brand new one. It does sort of work on living things, but it's a bad idea to try it, since they can try to get out of him while he's consuming them. It is very unpleasant to have a squirrel trying to claw its way out of one's stomach, so Isaac prefers his prey thoroughly dead.
    • So long as his brain stays intact, it's very difficult to bring him down. However, burnt tissue takes a lot longer than living tissue to heal. While he can reattach a torn off arm in a few seconds, if it was burnt off, he has to wait a few days for the tissue to heal before he puts it back on in the right place. Also, a strong electric shock will render him unable to use his powers for a few minutes.
    • What kind of music do you listen to? "Vaporwave."

[up][up] The only song that ever seemed appropriate to Simon's character, when I first conjured him up, was 'Crazy', hence my choice for his surname. Mind you, I've got like three different leitmotif candidates for the other side of him.

Well, if you're doing theme songs (or leitmotifs, though those tend to be melodic motifs rather than actual songs) I'm tempted to go with 'There, there' or 'Climbing Up The Walls' by Radiohead.

  • Name: Gabriel Lewis Martin.
    • Do you like your name? "It's alright."
  • Age: 17.
    • What do you wanna be when you grow up? "Filmmaker, maybe an animator. I certainly enjoy writing."
  • Appearance: Lean kind, rather on the slim side. White, brown hair which has a small curl in the front and blue eyes. He has high cheek bones and a curved nose. About 6 feet in height. He tends to wear jackets and fleeces no matter what the weather.
    • Do you have a crush or are you not even thinking about these things yet? "Haven't met the right girl yet. I at least want to practice dating."
  • Personality: Enjoys being alone, but when making friends, he can get very deep into a topic he likes. He has a strong sense of morality and right and wrong, and is always willing to help others. He is a kind and gentle soul, however, when he is angry, he can be very violent and protective of those he cares about. Insults against him, he tends to ignore. He has a good sense of humor, but his brain can be very muddled at times, given he has autism, and he is very insecure. He worries that his desire to become a world renowned film maker is motivated by selfishness, and not his hope to entertain as many people as possible, and sometimes wonders if his motives for doing good are just him lying to himself to avoid confronting the idea he might be out for glory and fun. He is very chaste, though he does fantasize, given his age. Overall, a nice guy with doubts about his own self-worth.
    • It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do? "Write, maybe? Babysit my younger siblings if I have to."
  • Backstory: Average life, really. Well, being the oldest in a family of ten kids is difficult, but he manages. Gabriel was raised a devote Roman Catholic, but can be rather liberal sometimes. His family had to move so his dad could find a job.
    • What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them? "Parents have not split at all. They fight and argue sometimes, but they love each."
  • Powers: Gabriel has developed an interesting power set. He has two small versions, which can appear on his shoulders like those shoulder angels or devils. In fact, both would fit that idea, but in truth, they are pieces of him. Well, manifestations anyway. One is The Id and the other is The Superego. They can be seen by others if Gabriel makes them. They give him advice, but are not separate entities from him. He has gained some other powers as well. He now has increased agility, speed, reflexes, senses, strength, endurance and flexibility, and has started to become a parkour master. Another power he has gained is the ability to summon handheld weapons, such as swords and guns. He is still training in how to use guns and gun safety, however, and thus, he prefers to use swords and shields.
    • What kind of music do you listen to? "Whatever strikes my fancy, really. Though I do enjoy a good love song every now and then. Music I can dance to is something I always enjoy."

@secretly: Alright. Mirielle is accepted. I will ask you to extend the courtesy of asking to GMNP Cs that are playing an important part in the plot.

@Nickthe Swing: I'm a firm believer in second chances, so Hans is accepted.

@Yomegami: If that's what you want, don't let me stop ya. Valerie is accepted.

@Heroic Sociopath: I'm waiting to see the backstory, but I'd like to suggest a change. Whilst you can keep the 'will always be able to reform himself as long as he has his brain and nutrients', I'd like to ask you to make the healing time proportional to the injury, rather than the method Isaac was injured. So small wound would be about a minute, whilst a torn off limb would be about ten minutes times the size of the limb (eye would be ten minutes, arm would be thirty, yada yada). The result is that whilst Isaac is still pretty sturdy, it keeps people fighting against him from only using the 'hit him until he's down' strategy and opens up other avenues.

@Vampireandthen: I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in R Ping with you after the events of Battleworld and other R Ps. Also, Gabriel's superpower is not a superpower, it's more of an active imagination.

Ok, technically, this is two characters- but they're quite literally joined at the hip. I'm a bit leery about giving him three powers in conjuction with his "benefactor," but I'm hoping it won't be too overboard since they're all part of his main theme and power. He's more of a glass cannon, really, since none of his powers enchance his durability.

What I'm aiming for with him is more or less a character that tries to do good things, but is subject to Bad Powers, Bad People, with him eventually pulling a Heel–Face Turn and deciding that "if everyone is going to demonize him, Then Let Me Be Evil."

The thing that I'm unsure on is how Fesxis came to select him as a protectorate. I don't know what exactly the event that gives everyone super-powers is, so I'm going with "Eldritch nature spirit thing senses disturbance, goes and checks it out, gets bound to Sebastian." But that's just a working theory. As usual, feedback and stuff would be greatly appreciated so I can change anything off!

Name:

Sebastian Smith. His monstrous ride-along calls herself Fesxis.

-Do you like your name?

I guess. In all honesty, the alliteration is a bit heavy. I can’t help but feel like something cooler would be nice, even though I’d probably end up getting annoyed with it later on in life. Still, “Sebastian Smith” is a good name for an author.

My name is unimportant, but I suppose that I could have been named something less admirable. My duty remains the same, however, no matter what I am called.

Age: 17 and Time Abyss, respectively.

-What do you wanna be when you grow up?

I want to be a famous writer! Mostly, I’ve been writing short stories, but attempting a novel could be cool.

I am young, but I am already powerful. When I achieve my full power, I shall serve Sebastian however he sees fit for as long as he lives. Humans have such short lifespans, however. I shall miss him.

Appearance:

The first thing that most people notice about Sebastian is how short he is. Standing at about 4’9, he’s often mistaken for younger than he is. His small stature has no bearing on his sense of adventure, however- he can often be found exploring and taking notes on the interesting things he can find. His hair is dark brown, and his eyes are a warm bright blue. On a normal day, he wears a leather jacket and a pair of jeans- both well worn from hiking and exploration.

The creature that’s currently using his as a host is almost his complete opposite. When outside of his body, she stands at about nine feet tall; she roughly resembles a very, very tall human skeleton, although she has digigrade legs, and her hands taper into long, sharp claws.Closer examination reveals that her “bones” aren’t human or animal in nature, and seem instead to be a kind of chitin or other hard substance; this is further reinforced by the fact that her chest and ribcage is more triangular than round. She has the skull of a doe, which, along with her feminine (albeit growly) voice, seems to suggest that it happens to be female. However, her fangs are a lot sharper than normal, and her eye sockets glow red.

-Do you have a crush or are you not even thinking about these things yet?

A crush? Well, I’ve had a few in the past, but I’m not really attracted to anyone currently.

I am a nine-foot tall shadow spirit of protection. In other words, no.

Personality:

Sebastian is kind and warm. He enjoys exploring a great deal, and loves to talk about nature to anyone that will listen. While he is seventeen- and does find he’s attracted to members of the opposite sex- he’s a bit too awkward and a bit too short to really follow up on anything and actually get a date.

Fesxis serves her hosts because she wants too, not out of any magical or physical compulsion. Mainly because it provides a purpose in an otherwise insanely long, meaningless life. She’s extremely loyal to her host, and to those they designate as friends; however, any other lives are, in her eyes, forfeit. The protection of her host- who, in this case, is Sebastian- is almost all that matters to her. She doesn’t really understand humans too well either, although she’s learning. Slowly, but still learning.

-It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do?

Play video games or go exploring, depending on if I’m in the mood for the latter! Obviously, I’d only go exploring if I can get one or two friends to go with me, or at the very least making sure they know where I am.

As I have stated below, I’ve either never had parents, or they are long dead. In any case, I like to listen to audio books.

Backstory:

Sebastian was always an adventurous kid. That never changed, but as he got older, he started to take precautions, which made his parents pretty happy- they knew where he was going, they knew what he planned to do, and he almost always took another person with him.

Fesxis has lived for a very, very long time. As such, she has had hundreds of hosts, and has lived a variety of ways; she's been a destroyer and a savior, a villain and a hero. After a while, though, it all felt pointless; so instead of being chaotic and aimless, she decided to restrict herself to a set of personal rules- the main one being that she had to serve a host as a guardian. It's been working out great so far, really.

-What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them?

My parents are both accountants, funnily enough. I do live with both of them- if living can be considered the correct term. They’re usually pretty busy most of the time, but I still love ‘em to death.

I was born so long ago that it feels like a millennia, even though I know it wasn't such a timespan. If I had parents, I do not remember them.

Powers:

Shadow Manipulation: Fesxis has granted Sebastian the power to wield shadows when she resides within him, using them as weapons or tools. He can do so by gesturing with his corrupted right hand, using different movements and gestures for different attacks and effects; almost none of his powers don’t require a somatic component to make them work. Using these abilities cost next to no energy from Sebastian, but empowering them does.

  • Shadow Lash
Sebastian makes a fist with his right hand, conjuring and wielding a whip of pure shadow. It has a reach of approximately ten feet, and is as hard as steel. The shadow itself is freezing cold, but it doesn’t physically cut flesh normally. However, Sebastian can will the end to taper out into a deadly spear-point, which- if Sebastian extends enough energy- can pierce through most things.

  • Shadow Grab
Raising his right hand, Sebastian causes tendrils of shadow to swirl around a target. If the target doesn’t resist or is taken by surprise, they pin their arms to their sides. Sebastian can move his captive around by moving his fist, and can let them go by releasing his fist. A target can break free from this magical equivalent of a bear hug with sufficient strength. He can also try to subdue a struggling target by expending more energy- however, this doesn’t usually work.

  • Shadow Wall:
Splaying his right hand in front of him, Sebastian can conjure a barrier of pure shadow in the form of a wall. This barrier can take a good amount of punishment before it shatters- as a rule of thumb, a single barrier can take a round of machine gun fire before breaking. Sebastian can keep the barrier up by expending more energy- however, this runs the risk of completely exhausting him.

Manifestation: Fesxis can temporarily separate herself from Sebastian, but it costs him a great deal of energy to do so while conscious- as a result, neither Fesxis or Sebastian ever uses this. However, this changes when Sebastian is unconsciousness- at that point, Fesxis can seperate from him with no drain whatsoever. While separated, Fesxis becomes corporeal, and is about twice as strong as your average bodybuilder.

She’s also very fast, although not at inhuman levels. There are limits to this seperation, however- Fesxis cannot willingly move more than fifty feet from Sebastian, and if moved farther than that against her will, she can’t move any further away from him. And while she does possess extreme strength and durability, weapons and powers that use light or fire do a lot of damage to her. If destroyed while corporeal, Fesxis shatters and retreats back into Sebastian, and cannot separate for at least four days.

What kind of music do you listen to?

I’m honestly not sure. I like a wide variety of stuff, a lot of which I find on Youtube. Set It Off and Starset are two of my favorite channels for grabbing good songs.

Human music has evolved so much over the course of your history. The one you refer to as “Bon Jovi” is still my personal favorite.

Edits: Spruced up the look of the character sheet, because I'm a neat freak.

Make way, make way! Obligatory antagonistic asshole of the cast coming through.

  • Name: Finn N. Flannagan (formerly Schwartz)
    • Do you like your name? "Do I like being named after a legendary hero whose surname is literally pronounced 'Mac Cool'? I'll give you two guesses, and the first one doesn't count."

  • Age: 17
    • What do you wanna be when you grow up? I'm going to be someone people can look up to as a great leader, and frankly, I have what it takes to be great. I have the brains and the looks. I have the skills and the will. And most importantly, I know where not to step. But I'm not going to be some small-town mayor, oh no... er, maybe I'm getting a little off-topic. Anyway, you get the picture.

  • Appearance: Red-haired and blue eyed with his longer bangs combed appealing over to one side of his face, pale and lanky Finn looks exactly like that kid every urban and suburban school in America has at least one of who's rich and makes damn sure everybody knows it by over-dressing every day of the week. He's typically seen in some variety of red dress shirt paired with a black tie, light slacks, and dark shoes. He almost always wears a small necklace tucked under his shirt, which - if he ever cared to fish it out - would reveal itself to be an elegant, unadorned silver cross.
    • Do you have a crush or are you not even thinking about these things yet? You mean like... a girlfriend? Well I, uh... You think I have time for something as trivial as that while I'm this busy?! H-Ha! Not that I couldn't get any girl I wanted if I felt like it, of course!

  • Personality: To put it simply, Finn is utterly full of himself, wielding a superiority complex larger than the entirety of his class combined. He likes being in control, loves a good argument, dislikes when things don't go his way, and holds long grudges. His methods of showing affection and camaraderie to people other than family generally involve condescension and put-downs. The only thing capable of exceeding the size of his ego is his ambition, and he often thinks of others as little more than chess pieces, levers, and stepping stones for his own future. That said, he is not entirely without redeeming qualities. The humbling he experienced at the beginning of his high school years has seen him develop fierce loyalty toward those who remain loyal to him, and even reasonable consideration of competing ideas. His surface personality is charming and gregarious, and is good for sucking up to people older than himself. He is a great lover of puns and practical jokes, but is very bad at knowing when he's about to go too far.
    • It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do? I'll usually browse the web, watch a film, read a book, polish my skills in an online match. You know, normal things. I'm not about to ruin my future with alcohol or drugs, unlike some people I'm sure we could name.

  • Backstory: Growing up the son of Oldport's mayor and a state lawyer, life was good to Finn Flannagan. School was easy, even interesting, and his study of the world's oldest game was going exceptionally well. His parents gave him enough of an allowance to buy most anything he really wanted to. He was top dog at his local middle school. Cute girls and eager yes-men in the making flocked to him and wanted to be a part of his prestigious (among petty children) clique.

Then, in the middle of his Freshman year of high school, his father was brought down by a corruption scandal involving embezzlement of city funds. The government had more than enough evidence to prosecute, so after taking a plea deal, his father is now behind bars for the foreseeable future. Finn's position in the unofficial social hierarchy at school, meanwhile, plummeted like a rock, and all but a tiny number of his former "friends" and acquaintances abandoned him. The ensuing two years have seen him keeping his head low and studying while staying in touch with all the juiciest gossip and dirt on other people he can get his hands on - and his quitting the Acting Club to form the Chess Club, of which he is (naturally) President.
    • What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them? Mother's a top lawyer over at the DA's office in Providence, so she's not around as much as she'd like, but she's a good parent and you know, we love each other. As for my father... well, I'm sure you know what happened to him. In short, I don't miss him. I prefer to think of him as an all-around negative role model rather than someone who shares genes with me, frankly.

  • Powers:
  • Mundane Prowess:
    • Acting: Finn is excellent at memorizing lines and putting on a fake face, and might be one of the few people in Mr. Moore's class who actually enjoyed reading and memorizing Shakespeare. Formerly a prominent member of the Acting Club, but left two years ago to form his own, superior club with blackjack and hookers.
    • Chess Prodigy: Finn is very, very good at chess, sweeping regional tournaments on a regular basis. He regularly plays against himself mentally as both sides of the board when bored. As he will gladly remind you when given the opportunity, he is President of the Chess Club.
    • Mental Acuity: Mr. Flannagan is one of those people who coast through school without studying terribly hard yet still manage to make more or less straight A's. He has a quick wit for puns and is pretty good at coming up with a convincing bluff in a pinch, although his preference is to plan ahead. On the flipside, he doesn't have very many actual friends.
    • Tricks: Finn has put an utterly inordinate amount of time into mastering such smooth moves as moonwalking, spinning a pen on the side of his hand, throwing paper airplanes with great accuracy, and so on.

  • SUPERpowers: Being suddenly empowered by the events of the RP has left Finn with AMAZING PSYCHIC ABILITIES! Come one, come all, and witness the wonders, stand stupified at the spectacle of the Faaaaaaabulous Finn Flannagan!
    • Postcognition: By coming into skin contact with another object, Finn is able to observe that object's past. The fact that he cannot turn this power off comes as an unfortunate drawback, however, and he'll most likely be wearing gloves a lot more often in the future. The length and detail of past covered varies depending on how long he stays in contact with the object in question and the type of object involved. If he's in contact with a well-used tool for a sufficient period, he can even instinctively make use of it as easily as anyone who had long mastered it could, but this does not mean he would gain understanding of the fundamental principles underpinning its workings beyond being able to make inferences about said principles. For things that can be carried by hand, the entire history of the object down to the process of its creation can be read in a minute or two, but he can only see up to 24 hours into the past of sentient beings (a player character only upon player permission) or of an object larger or more complex than a basic appliance or tool.
    • Precognition: At random intervals, Finn receives vivid, sometimes confusing visions of the future from multiple perspectives in a third-person omniscient point of view (i.e. he perceives any GM flash-forwards at the time of their posting). Visions result in sudden loss of consciousness for minutes and even hours at a time. Moreover, if a given act has a small number of outcomes (coin flips, die rolls, roulette, slots, etc.), he can predict that outcome with perfect accuracy. If he was walking with no destination in mind and his conscious mind began to wander completely, his feet might lead him to locations of particular import. Beyond that, this power currently manifests as a new, uncanny grace guided by sureness of intuition and grants preternatural aiming skills (though not remotely to "ricocheting bullets in exact trajectories" levels).
    • Astral Projection: When not moving of his own accord, and through mustering significant concentration, Finn can project an astral self from his body which is able to fly at about the speed of a quick jog and can move through matter like a ghost and observe with regular human senses, but which cannot physically interact with the world and is imperceptible except to other superhumans. This is great for scouting purposes, but he is not conscious of the state of his defenseless and effectively sleeping body while astral.
    • What kind of music do you listen to? Bach, Beethoven, Dvorak - you know, all the greats. And film soundtracks. I'm not really into lyrics; too distracting.

I may edit Dan's powers a little, because I've come up with a decent explanation of how his speed doesn't cause him windburn or spray his organs out of every orifice.

That's a nice image, eh?

Anyway, I may edit it to be localized time-dilation, so anyone in the golden field will not be affected by the air pressure and wind from travelling at such speed. That would remove the need for any Required Secondary Powers.

[down] That's an idea. Having her constantly hearing everything could be a source of drama.

Or something, at least.

Anyway, I did edit Dan's powers, so his powers are actually time dilation that makes it seem as if he moves that fast. This would also allow him to, say, carry people out of a burning building without giving them severe windburn.

Is this where join the Finn-bullying club? Nah, I don't Zia is the type to give him overt crap but probably won't be a big fan.

I think I might edit my sheet to mention that Zia can't really turn here telepathy off, just kinda turn it down with practice. Just to make things more fun, heh.

Ooh, thank you, Strato!

Anyhow, to join in on the bullying Finn train, Sebastian would probably try to be at least a bit nice to him. Whether or not he really likes him is up for debate, but he'd at least try.

Also, Zia not being able to turn her telepathy off sounds pretty interesting- it would also make for a spot of drama since she'd probably hear Fesxis at some point. Not to mention that it could probably invoke A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Read as well.
