I'm also interested.

  • Name: Valerie Schultz
    • Do you like your name?: "My name suits me just fine."
  • Age: 14
    • What do you wanna be when you grow up?: "I'm planning on becoming an actress. I'm already making my way there, though it would be nice if I could get a role outside of the villain."
  • Appearance:
    • Valerie is of average height (around 5'4'') and build for someone her age. She has straight red hair that's usually cut chin-length, with some of it tied up into two small pigtails. She has blue eyes normally, but when her powers are activated they become yellow. She's usually wearing some combination of t-shirts, and blue jeans, though her preferred footwear is a pair of almost knee-high black boots, and she's also usually wearing a black leather vest over her shirt.
    • Valerie's "hero" outfit she'll probably make later on consists of a dark blue domino mask, a dark blue peplum jacket with red trimmings, a similarly colored short skirt, and red stockings and platform sandals.
    • Do you have a crush or are you not even thinking about these things yet?: "I have dreams to chase after! I don't have time for this."
  • Personality:
    • Valerie is quite a bombastic individual. She's passionate about everything she does, and once her mind's set on something, she'll not waver from it. While she's happy enough to make friends, she also greatly appreciates a good rivalry. Sometimes she comes off as a crazy person.
    • That being said, a lot of her more eccentric traits are intentionally exaggerated, partially to hide the fact she's quite perceptive and often knows more than she lets on and partially because she just finds it fun. On a quiet day, she can actually be somewhat somber. Above all else, she's a firm believer in "what goes around, comes around" and will try her best to make sure people get what they deserve.
    • It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do?: "I'd go out myself. Why bother staying inside when there's a whole world to see out there?"
  • Backstory:
    • Valerie's life has been pretty ordinary. In fact, it's been boring enough that she's constantly longed for something more exciting, much to the disapproval of her otherwise traditional parents. She's not the best student, but she's getting along just fine there. In accordance with her dreams, she's a prominent member of her school's acting club. She's also been trying to teach herself how to live independently.
    • What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them?: "Dad's a construction worker; Mom just stays at home and looks after the house. I've always lived with them, though I'm just aching to get out there on my own. It doesn't feel like they understand that my life is my own."
  • Powers:
    • First and foremost, Valerie needs to activate her powers in order to use any of them. They'll automatically activate in a life-threatening situation. Changing back and forth results in Valerie being covered in a white light that can be blinding to those unprepared.
    • She can fly. Not at an incredibly fast speed, but it's still quicker for her than running.
    • She's a little tougher than normal; not to nigh-invincible levels, but she's capable of stomaching more and stronger blows than most.
    • She can manifest white fire to attack with. She use it to give her trident some added oomph, shoot off individual fireballs, arrange them in patterns to try and trap her opponents, or combine them together into stronger attacks. She can also fire off a steady stream of fire. Despite its appearance, it can't actually burn things; it's more akin to a laser rather than actual fire.
    • Speaking of lasers, Valerie can also fire concentrated beams of white light. She can fire off several smaller ones at once, or a single large one. If she fires a large beam along the ground, she can make its path explode shortly afterwards. She won't know she can do this or how to do this at the start; it's for later on.
    • She can also congeal her fire into various kinds of bladed weaponry, such as knifes, spears, or tridents. They're all sharper than a normal weapon of their kind would be, although they can't exactly cleave through anything instantly (extremely thick armor plating would take her a while to cut through, for example).
    • Valerie's powers are as lethal as she needs them to be. If she does not actually want to hurt someone, she will not no matter how incredibly destructive her attacks look.
    • What kind of music do you listen to?: "I like the kinds of songs that get the blood pumping, which is quite a lot of things now that I think about it. My preference is rock and heavy metal."

  • Name: Simon Barclay
    • Do you like your name? "Yes. I guess. I mean, it's a name. Not a name I'd go with, but...still. A name nonetheless. Are all the questions going to be this ridiculous?"
  • Age: 18
    • What do you wanna be when you grow up? "Happy. Content. Left alone, I suppose. Is there anything else I really need out of life?"
  • Appearance: Simon is a skinny lad with a pointed chin, droopy black hair and a dour disposition. He tends to wear the same black turtleneck, usually carries himself with stiff shoulders and a hunch, and rarely looks people directly in the eye. The edges of burn marks can be seen just past his sleeves.
    • Do you have a crush or are you not even thinking about these things yet? "What? No, I...What? What kind of vapid question is that? Who has time for- I just... What?"
  • Personality: Simon is a formal, moody young lad, who often seems to take himself a little too seriously. He's fond of quoting classic literature and Shakespeare, especially when making a sarcastic retort. Not easily trusting of others, and not willing to suffer fools lightly, Simon prefers to keep to himself, and get on with his work and life in peace without any interruptions. But as much as Simon likes to think he's in control, he's been having some difficulty keeping it together. For years, he's been troubled by bouts of something dark and suppressed he doesn't understand himself, and he's constantly trying to keep total control of his own emotions. After all, there's a hell of a lot in his head to keep in check.
    • It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do? "The same thing I do every night, I should think. Get some fresh air, eat some food, listen to some music, take my medication and head to bed."
  • Backstory: Simon doesn't actually remember a whole lot of his childhood, or really any of it. His earliest memories are after the age of twelve, living in a foster group home in a London borough, with a gaggle of other rambunctious children, before getting adopted and moving to the states. Since then, he's been trying to lose the accent as best he can, but beyond that, hasn't exactly been making strides to socialise with his peers. He's more interested in whatever the library has to offer, be it books or the computer, but this isn't always enough to keep his interest. Lately, he grew so bored that he slacked off on his lifelong regimen of neuroleptic medication. But with that lapse, there started to come the nightmares. Blurred visions of screaming, hurtful memories, of guilt and fear and rage, and amongst them all, a creature, somewhere between and a man and a dragon, saying it won't be long until it's free.
    • What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them? "Fine. My dad's a manager for Hewlett-Packard, so that takes him out of the house more often than not, but he is around for the special occasions, so technically, yes, I live with him. Him and my mum, she's a biology teacher at Oldport's middle school. There. That's the length and breadth of the question answered. Satisfied?"
  • Powers: Simon's abilities are elemental in nature, but they are tied to his personality and memories. One such set of abilities is the power to manipulate plasma, like fire and electricity, but Simon himself is unable to access it. Now if, say, there was some other personality in his head...some hitherto unknown persona that could access the plasma any time it chose, for whatever reason it saw fit...well, now, that would be a different matter entirely.
    • What kind of music do you listen to? "This, that, the other. Though I do have a soft spot for smooth jazz...just don't spread that around, all right? I've got enough for people to mock me for..."

Okay, I've dug my my ol' Doa NA sheet and tweaked it a touch.

  • Name: Zia Brayne

  • Do you like your name? Yeah, it's one of the few things I have going for me, frankly. It makes it sound like I'm one Ph.D away from becoming a supervillain - very cool.

    • Gender: Female

    • Age: 18

  • What do you wanna be when you grow up? Ah - I, uh... Well, I'd really like to be a professional musician, as unlikely as that is.

    • Appearance:

  • Zia Brayne is reasonably tall, standing at about 5 feet 10 inches with a wiry but lithe frame and long dextrous fingers. She is a little flat chested but has a good bone structure and would be considered good looking if it weren't for her skin nasty acne scars and ruddy skin. The top of her left ear has two silver stud ear-piercings but no others or tattoos currently. She keeps her hair cropped short at the back and sides with somewhat longer hair on the top as well as a stylish swept fringe away from her pierced ear, dyed bright purple with an overall 'punk' look. Zia's eyes are a lively hazel and her skin is a little pale.

  • Zia usually wears jeans with sneakers and a t-shirt, often with a band emblazoned on it. Tends to wear old style braces or a flannel shirt over these, often green or purple. Hates most jewelry and almost never wears make-up.

  • Do you have a crush or are you not even thinking about these things yet? More than I care to admit - my silly longings are my business, buddy.

    • Personality: Zia Brayne has gone through a higher quota of crap in the early years of her short life than a teenager is entitled too, though not as bad as some. In the past she suffered from depression and morbid thoughts from her father's death and bullying at school; now that she's nearly left her teenage years behind Zia has become a fairly calm and, on the surface, happy-go-lucky gal. She still caries a bit of baggage and her issues with depression has made a bit of a come back with most all of her friends moving away (to college or work) and helping her mother at home, placing her own life on hold until next year rolls around. However, she is determined not to end up like her father or to burden anyone else with her feelings, maintaining a quirky facade for her friends. She is also a perfectionist, and rather clever, with low self esteem from her own high standards as well as a need to help/impress/please others.

  • While, when she was younger, Zia harbored a fair bit of angst these days she is very laid back and kinda funny, albeit mostly in a sardonic fashion and the occasional pun. She is in love with music of most all forms, her main obsession being with piano but she loves dabbling in new and interesting instruments. When not working or helping her mother she is practicing on one instrument or another, listening to music and/or exercising. The sudden onset of her telepathy has encouraged mixed feelings from Zia, as she's been able to move past her anxieties by ignoring what other people think of her. Moreover, she is a big fan of free will and thought thus being able manipulate people's brains doesn't seem right to her. She has always been perceptive and doesn't take kindly to others picking on her friends.

  • It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do? Probably keep the house in order? If I get a chance I might turn the amps up and bash my way through some Led Zeppelin?

    • Powers: Zia has vast, powerful psionic abilities ala Professor Xavier of X-men fame. Her telepathy allows her to read minds and project her own thoughts into the minds of others within a maxium radius of approximately 15 miles, at least for now. Zia can also psionically manipulate the minds of others, for example to make herself seem invisible, and project illusions into them. She can also induce temporary mental and/or physical paralysis, loss of particular memories or even total amnesia. Within close range (5 miles), Zia can manipulate almost any number of minds for such simple feats. However, she can only take full possession of another being's mind one at a time, and she can only do so if she is within that being's physical presence - at least at this stage. Moreover, the stronger a persons willpower and such, the more difficult it is for her to use her powers on them. Unfortunately, she cannot actually turn the telepathy and the subsequent alien thoughts 'off', though perhaps with practice tune out or turn down these to some extent.

  • What kind of music do you listen to? Well that's a big question! Uh, a bit of everything really - it depends on what kinda mood I'm in. I guess my favorites are metal, rock and blues? Right now, anyway...

    • Other skills: Talented and skilled musician, particularly with piano - also more than competent with bass guitar. Decent sketch artist, prefers working with pens and greylead pencils. Rather good at advanced mathematics. Fit from swimming and ride her bike almost everywhere.

    • Occupation: Music tutor at her high school.

    • Backstory:

  • Zia Brayne's parents immigrated from the UK to America before she was born, her mother a high school teacher and her father a musician. Her dad had always struggled with mental illness, particularly depression and the stresses of raising a young child did not do much to relieve this. Zia was empathetic and perceptive even as a young girl, and did her best to keep her father happy but it never seemed to be enough - He took a gun and blew his brains out when she was 8, her mother called it an accident. By then he had already passed on his love and talent for music as well as, it seemed, his depression albeit for more obvious reasons. Even before she found out the truth of his death Zia began to suffer morbid, persistent thoughts of unchild-like nature. It didn't help that her bad skin and odd interests singled her out as a target for bullying but she was at least able to see a psychologist for a time and learned to focus on her studies.

  • As she entered high school Zia learned to stop caring about what the majority thought of her, at least outwardly. As a consequence she made a number of good friends amongst the other weirdos and musos. She even learned bass and a little guitar for a few garage bands. Last year her mother was diagnosed with cancer and thus her daughter had to withdraw from much of her social pursuits to care for her as she underwent chemotherapy which continued into the next year. Zia's friends were mostly older than her so most of them have largely moved away for their own futures. Her mother has recovered and, given her virtuostic talents, Zia has taken a job as an after hours music tutor at the school.

  • What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them? My mum's a high-school teacher and my dad somehow managed to make money as a musician. I live with my mum since, well, living with my dad would be kinda hard.

Huh. Weird coincidence. Didn't there'd be more than one UK-America immigrant character, let alone one with a teacher for a mother, adoptive or otherwise.

Name: Panju Joshi

  • Do you like your name?
"I mean. I don't dislike my name. Sometimes I wish I wasn't named after an island in India, but I know a kid whose named after a discontinued shampoo brand, so maybe I won this one."

Age: 17.

  • What do you wanna be when you grow up?
"I want to be a family man. People are always rushing, traveling, going from job to job and never really smiling anymore. I don't really care what it is I end up doing, so long as I'm doing it for the people I love. That's what matters, yeah?"

Appearance: Light but obviously Indian complexion. Sparsely freckled. Brown-red hair that falls down a bit past his shoulders, but is usually tied back into a long ponytail. Usually wears an unbuttoned dress shirt with a white tee beneath and joggers; occasionally, he'll swap out the joggers for some dress pants. He's always wearing a small, silver crucifix necklace.

  • Do you have a crush or are you not even thinking about these things yet? "That's a bit more forward then I took you for, yeah? Didn't realize you were another one of my adoring fans, looking for my hidden island treasures~? Nah. I couldn't keep a girlfriend if I had a cage made of gold. Too flighty, too pricy and none of them have hair half as good as mine."

Personality: Playful, cheery, isolated. Panju has trouble maintaining lasting friendships and a habit of scaring people away with his openness, but is almost always open to trying to start up a friendship or rekindle an old one. He knows God put him here with a purpose, and until he has some sort of divine inspiration. . . making others happy seems like a good enough purpose.
It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do? "So you mean every Saturday night? I invite over a couple of dudes and we hang out. Sometimes I invite over this cute girl and we study Chemistry together instead. Wait no, sorry, that wasn't supposed to be an innuendo, um,"

Backstory: Panju's family is fairly well off. His father is a high profile financial advisor who spends most of his time on airplane rides from client to client, while his mother is in charge of a regional banking group. Though they've almost entirely Americanized, his mother wishes her family had paid more attention to their cultural history in raising her. She had meant to raise Panju more in line with her cultural heritage, but as the name suggests, the attempt was stunted and full of half measures.
Panju's family didn't have much in terms of struggles, but it was also a very busy place to grow up in, and there were times when Panju felt more like he was raising himself. He's well liked by his History teachers at school especially, and there's no teachers that outlike dislike him, but by no means is he the shining exemplar of a student that his parents had wanted him to be. He's been a part of a lot of the school's cliques before falling back to obscurity, and the few constants throughout that time are not exactly close friends—a girl who he studies with in some classes and had considered asking out once, a boy who got him into card games then stopped playing those same card games, a honor roll student who focuses too much on music to care about anything else.

  • What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them? "Well, my dad works for a living. He's always off traveling someplace. I don't know what my mom does for a living, but for fun she manages half the banks in Rhode Island. I guess I live with them, but it feels more like we're just living in the same house, yeah?"

Powers: "I do this thing where I make people feel better. Wish someone would do that for me sometime."

  • Chronorestoration: Panju is able to restore people, or parts of people, to the condition they were in a day before. This only works on willing subjects or subjects who are unconscious, however, and it can only be used on a subject once in a twenty-four hour period.
  • Anesthesia: Panju is able to completely take away feeling from a person or from an area on a person for up to an hour. This only works on willing subjects.

What kind of music do you listen to? "The silent kind, usually. I prefer to hear myself think, prefer to listen to the conversations of the world around me. When I'm alone, though? Santana. Santana all the way boys. I hope that one day I can be that smooth."

  • Name: Hans Schultz
    • Do you like your name? "...Y-yes. That I do.
  • Age: 16
  • What do you wanna be when you grow up? "I do not know. I've only just figured out what I don't want to be."
  • Appearance: Hans even by appearance looks like a young man who has made his share of mistakes - his short cut light blond hair and icy blue eyes give him an intimidating presence assisted by his hoodie, short sleeved shirt, and black jeans. He has a handsome appearance, and stands at around 190 pounds, most of that being lean, powerfully built musculature. Without his shirt on, it is obvious he has obtained a number of regrettable tattoos from less than reputable places he has tried to get off of him and has a number of scars besides. He tries to maintain a stoic appearance, rarely ever making dramatic shows of emotion using his body. When he uses his powers, he tends to manifest a light blue glow to his body, wafting off of him like an aura, and his eyes glow even brighter.
  • Do you have a crush or are you not even thinking about these things yet? (blushes) (badly hides blush) "There is one girl I like. But I do not know if she would like me back due to my...disgraceful actions."
  • Personality: Hans considers himself first and foremost an atoner - he wants to do good deeds to make up for the bad ones in his past. He has a lot he considers his old shame, including some old friends who he no longer regards positively. The problem being he tends to be very, very awkward in trying to do good deeds, and some of the time he makes mistakes that can be misread very easily. He tries to be stoic and act without dramatic shows of his emotions, but inside is a much more emotional boy that only acts as such due to expectations. He does not tolerate bullies, and makes a point of defending the weak. Similarly, he despises prejudice and incitement of hatred "I learned from experience that nothing good can spring from hatred." As he is The Atoner, he tries to keep himself to the straight and narrow, for fear of relapsing into the kind of "little monster" he was before. For Hans, weight lifting and fitness, as well as boxing focus him, let him work out his anger before it bubbles out, and to this end he is very strict about diet and exercise.
  • It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do? "Nothing untowards. I...okay, I am going to use my sister's netflix to catch up on the shows. She's out at the QB's party anyways.."
  • Backstory: Hans Schultz was a boy who made a lot of mistakes, a good number of them very dire mistakes. His parents are lower-middle class second generation German immigrants and are often away toiling at multiple jobs to pay for the house and amenities. Hans never got any of the consoles for video games and only a very basic computer, and his living accommodations have always been rather squalid, while his older sister Emma was given a more gracious living area and she was always much more popular than her little brother. He grew frustrated with life in general and sought someone to blame for his misfortune. The Heritage Battlefront group gave him aught to blame, and brought him into what he calls "hatred, chaos, perverse nationalism and...a lot of weird frog memes." He ran with them from eleven to fourteen, when he got sold out by them for a rather disturbingly violent act. While the police saw through the attempt to shift everything off on to Hans, the result still left his parents having to report often to make sure he wasn't radicalized back into his old street gang. He realized hate solves nothing, and started making an effort to atone for his wrongdoings. By the present, his sister reviles him, and he has to make a weekly report to the school psychologist. And his old gang seems to want him back, one way or another.
  • What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them? "I live with my parents. My mother works three jobs, my father four. They change jobs often, it seems."
  • Powers: Hans' powers give him greatly enhanced strength, endurance and durability, but the real power here is his aura. It has a power called tactile vector control, letting him manipulate down to a fine level of detail whatever he touches, including direction, heat, and shape. However he has to understand whatever it is he's doing to it and will it to do that.
  • What kind of music do you listen to? "I am preferential to alternative rock."

To answer a random question, the RP takes place in 2017.

@Enirobreh: In terms of power, I see nothing bad with it... however, I would like for you to work out the toll this has on Daniel's body as a whole. His entire organism will be working five, four times faster than usual. How does this reflect on his eating, on how tired he gets after walking, on the kind of mental control he has to develop to not go super speed for everything... and of course, how can he use said super speed in other activities. Imagine you've just described Daniel's powers in battle. Now tell me Daniel's powers outside of battle.

@wikkit: I've got only two things to say. One, maybe Ivy's friend from kindergarten is one of the non-empowered? Unless you want it to be one of the characters from here. Two, is her mad science limited only to these spurts of inspiration, or can we expect a general increase in intelligence?

@whizzerd: What are Elly and Don's ages? Who's Johann? (I'll probably play him as a GMNPC, so some more info will help in fleshing out a character for him.)

@Yomegami: Valerie will have to create that costume, alright? The empowering event will be the beginning of the RP, so that should be interesting. As for her powers, can we make her lasers an early to late game addition, and have her start out with just the fire? She can naturally learn how to use lasers as the game progresses.

@Lizard: so Simon's been living in the US for only five years, right? Or is it six? Trust me, this is important.

@Lt.B Gob: welcome back, Zia. I know I said I would just go with no limits, but damn, 250 miles is a lot. I put it on a map and Zia would be able to reach people all the way over to New York. So let's limit it to 15 miles just for a start. It doesn't sound like a lot, but that's the whole island of Newport/Oldport. Of course, if she were to project her thoughts into all the people on those 15 miles, she'd probably faint in a few seconds, right? I mean, she is just starting. Close range would be 5 miles. And what she can do depends on the mental fortitude of her enemy- which means fellow empowered would be much more difficult to control, let alone manipulate or mind-read. This is the IC justification... OOC, you'd have to just ask the other player for authorization, or ask me if something worked, you know how it works... we want to preemptively avoid any problems, right? One of the consequences of picking psychic powers.

@Kokorid: I really, really like this character. No, I'm not joking. Uhm, I guess the only thing I have to ask is if you plan for those friends you mentioned to be GMNP Cs or fellow players?

@Nick: okay, so, your character fits with what I said that I want this to be the real world. He deals with very real themes in a way that I think could lead to some great R Ping. But that requires walking this very, very fine line. Do you understand that? I just want you to know that I'll be playing the Heritage Battlefront characters as GMNP Cs (god, even saying 'playing' feels weird) and I'm really terrified at screwing up. And so should you. Got that?

Yeah, that limitation is perfectly fine - It was set at such a crazy distance because they were originally pinched from Prof. X and he has bonkers powers. And I'll definitely get OOC permission for dealing with any P Cs. I'll edit the sheet to fit your specifications momentarily~

By the way, B Gob, did you see Legion? I think one can draw a lot from that to play a character trying to deal with the maddening effects of psychic powers. Or you can just have Zia forge her own way. Up to you.

All of that sounds fair to me.

I would like to keep the trident as part of her power set, though. To that end, I was thinking of rewording it so that she can generate weapons made of light, starting with things like daggers and graduating to the trident at some point later on down the line (perhaps around the same time she learns how to use the lasers). Would this be acceptable?

Sadly I have not yet seen Legion (It's hard to see certain American shows in Australia), though I have heard of its quality. I'll do my best to forge my own way through and keep the crazy powers balanced by character stuff. I might try and watch an episode or two of Legion, as well.

Yes, I intended that her friend's not empowered or related to the main cast in that way. Sorry for not communicating that intention any better.

As for her power, it's mostly the former. She'll be able to operate whatever she makes no matter how complex, and she might vaguely remember bits and pieces of what she comes up with, but making a laser out of a CD player and a hairdryer won't give her knowledge of particle physics. In the middle of making these things, however, she becomes much more intelligent in whatever fields are involved; she just can't impart this knowledge or communicate it in any meaningful way, and it's lost the moment she's done.

Elicia Gardner is ten years old, while Don is eight.

Johann is an eccentric middle-aged man who lives in the same apartment complex as the Gardners. Tenacious, sprightly, has a bit of a (non-violent) temper. Knows a little bit about everything, legal or otherwise. Not a bad dude, but younger kids are generally told to steer clear of him.

Right, just woke up. Lots of sign-up sheets now [lol]

So, Daniel's speed I had always imagined was some kind of mental on-off switch, although that may change. Higher metabolism would be obvious, making him need to eat much more. Thing is though, it would be very difficult to write with someone who sees the world five times slower than everyone else. So, maybe he's got some Required Secondary Powers?

I don't know quite yet. I'm good at improvising, so I'll edit the post, and maybe I can come up with something a little better.

EDIT: Right, come up with something. A little long, but it basically explains his powers in more detail.

Name: Terrance "Terry" Colt

  • Do you like your name? Why wouldn't I? It's a nice name, even if people tend to shorten it to "Terry".

Age: 15

  • What do you wanna be when you grow up? I want to go into medicine and help people.

Appearance: Terry is 5'8 and Caucasian, possessing a lean build, brown hair and steel grey eyes. He's got some muscle on him due to frequent exercise, but not enough to be considered "ripped". Wears a dark green t-shirt and jeans most of the time.

  • Do you have a crush or are you not even thinking about these things yet? No, I don't think I have a crush on anyone.

Personality: Generally, Terry is laid-back and patient, although he does put in effort when it comes to his studies. He also has a calming air that makes it easy for people to relax and open up around him, which is weird considering he's kind of a introvert. He only has a few close friends in school and that suits him just fine. Outside of school, Terry likes to exercise and read.

  • It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do? Hit the gym, or put on some music and crack open a book.

Backstory: Terrance was born in Austin, Texas, and his family moved to Oldport when he was six, due to his father being transferred there. Terry's life growing up was fairly unremarkable: He performed well in school, made a few friends and joined the school's track team.

  • What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them? My dad's a police officer, and my mom's an ER nurse. Yes, I live with them.

Powers: Terry's power allows him to transform parts of his body (most commonly his limbs) or his entire self into weaponry. Chains, firearms, blades, explosives...If he's seen it, he can turn into it. However, Terry can't change into weapons that cannot be replicated by modern technology (like a lightsaber), or anything larger/more complex than a howitzer.

Another limitation of his is experience fighting with weapons. Thus Terry has to learn how to use new weapons and develop his own style of fighting. While Terry has experience handling guns (mainly pistols) thanks to his family owning a few, he tends to stick with melee weaponry in order to avoid freaking people out even more. There's also the whole morality issue of gunning down people. And did I mention he can be harmed by his own bullets?

Interestingly, Terry seems be fully loaded whenever he turns into a gun, although he must cancel the transformation in order to reload. If his weapon form is intended to break him apart (such as a missile or grenade), he will quickly reform back into a human from the shrapnel, although the process does leave him briefly disoriented.

  • What kind of music do you listen to? A little of everything, really, although My favourites are mainly old-school rock, like Santana, AC/DC, that kinda stuff.

  • Name: Hyeon "Neon Hyeon" Jung
    • Do you like your name?
      • "What? Fuck you."
  • Age: 17
    • What do you wanna be when you grow up?
      • "On your daughter's bedroom wall. Keep an eye out." -wink-
  • Appearance: Hyeon is an even 5'6, lithe Korean youth, with a face defined primarily by the fact that he's wearing sunglasses all the damn time. This is primarily to hide the bags under his eyes, but it's also meant to keep up appearances—rock-and-roll is as rock-and-roll does, so as such his wardrobe consists primarily of things with bands on them, are ripped in some way shape or form, or something that costs a lot of money to look like absolute shit. Sometimes, a combination of all three.
    • Do you have a crush or are you not even thinking about these things yet?
      • "You offering?" -eyebrow waggle-
  • Personality: An all-around troublemaker, Hyeon is serious about exactly one thing: his music, which he believes will take him up and over the horizon. As far as everything else goes—up to and including school—Hyeon could care less about, approaching everything with a devil-may-care attitude that grates and delights in equal measure. As a result, Hyeon is the best worst friend one could have, roping in friends, coworkers, and especially bandmates into ill-advised nighttime activities that are destined to become either really great stories, or stopping them from ever getting gainfully employed in their adult lives. Fifty fifty.
    • It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do?
      • -sound of slamming door, followed by squealing tires-
  • Backstory:
  • Hyeon was raised by his grandmother on his mother's side, and had a happy childhood for most of his preteen life even after she had to be admitted to a local nursing home. He still visited her everyday, and the exposure to the aging rockers therein lit a fire in his young heart. When she suddenly died when he was 14, he played her off with "Stairway to Heaven" at her funeral, and decided to honor her last coherent wish to become a true-blue rock-and-roller—not because it would make him famous, or successful, but because it would make him happy.
  • Now 17, Hyeon is counting the days until he graduates and leaves the town behind for good. Until then, he contents himself by messing around with his friends, working his job at the local gas station, and securing gigs for his Led Zeppelin tribute band, Fred Zeppelin.
    • What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them?
      • "...next question, please."
  • Powers: Hyeon has a... bizarre relationship with nature. To wit:
  • At its most basic level, Hyeon is able to talk to animals. This extends from mammals to reptiles to birds, fish, insects, and even lichen and bacteria, not that they have much to say. Every animal speaks a different language, and not all of them will follow his commands on principle—however, many animals are really, really dumb, so they'll do what he says anyway. But as Hyeon gets more and more in-tune with a specific animal's language, he begins to adopt their mindset and instincts, to possibly detrimental effect. After a certain point, enough exposure to an animal will enable him to...
  • ...shapeshift into said animal, with all of the skills and senses this provides. But this is a skill that works by degrees; he could, say, adopt a wolf's eyesight, or a snake's speed, and stop there. He might someday be able to sense all of the animals around him on principle; but today is not that day.
  • The main commonality between all animal languages is that they don't use words, so much as sounds that more accurately get across their thoughts. The closest human analogue to this is music, meaning that whenever Hyeon is playing an instrument, he is better able to command and control the animals in the area. But as a side-effect, he can't not do this, meaning that whenever he plays, anywhere, his listening audience will be a lot bigger than it used to be...
  • As a result of extended time spent with an adopted squirrel known as Kwang, Hyeon has gained these additional abilities that he can tap into at will:
    • Enhanced Kinesthetic Sense—Rather than any kind of physical augmentation, the transplant of a squirrel’s practically supernatural sense of balance allows Hyeon to know what every part of his body is doing at every given moment, allowing him to do incredible feats of balance and precision when it comes to leaping, climbing, jumping, and fitting through small spaces. TLDR; hardcore parkour.
    • Enhanced Smell—Being a prey animal rather than a hunting one, Kwang’s sense of smell is more focused on a pool of awareness stretching out around him than a straight line stretching after a target. Hyeon’s adaptation of this ability would allow him to pick up unique smells of all shapes and sizes stretching out in a radius around him, the scents growing fainter the farther out they are.
    • Being Able To Bury Something Small And Always Remember Where It Is—Pretty much what it says.

    • What kind of music do you listen to?:

      • "PFFFFTHAAAAAAAhahahahahahahahaaaaahahaha, hah, haaaaaaa. Guess."

  • Name: Mirielle Bogdan
    • Are you fond of your name? "It's okay. My parents aren't even French, though. They're just overly fond of meaningful names.
  • Age: 16. Give or take a few months.
    • What do you want to be when you grow up? "I think I'll go into the family business, become a baker. I really enjoy it, and it would make my parents really happy."
  • Appearance: She wears clothes that are slightly too big for her.
    • Do you have a crush? "Not yet. But sometimes...I wonder about the right guy for me.
  • Personality:Mirielle is sweet and kind, with a smile and a compliment ready for anybody and everybody. She's quite intelligent, but prefers not to flaunt it, working hard and studying reliably. She's a bit of a klutz, often tripping over invisible stuff. However, all her kindness hides a soul of steel, and she is capable of snapping. When she does, she is brutal, pinpointing and attacking someone's weak spots with a deceptive ease. Push her too far at your peril.
    • It's Saturday night and your parents are out of town. What do you do?: " I keep the bakery running, of course."
  • Backstory:Mirielle was abandoned on the bakery's doorstep, for reasons which remain a mystery. Her parents, which had been a childless couple, immediately took her in and raised her, calling her Mirielle, which means miracle. She appeared in no records, and so her adoption was easy. She's had a fairly normal life, having being raised by two well-adjusted, loving parents.
    • What do your parents do for a living? Do you live with both of them? "They're bakers. Here, have a cookie. They were baked this morning. And yes, I do."
  • Powers: Strings Of Fate.' Mirielle can see the strings of fate that bind people. Red strings mean love, white means life (like a mother and daughter), black means death (cause of death- someone who will die in a car crash will be linked to the car that will hit them), yellow means hate or rivalry, and a variety of other colours mean other stuff, though those are the strongest bonds. I'll come up with a key later. She cannot see her own strings. She is also capable of manipulating them, cutting them and rejoining them to change people's fates. She cannot create new strings, but she can change the colour of strings. By tugging on one of the strong strings (Red, white, black, yellow) she can affect the people on either side of the strings, and by pulling them, she can drag them together. Through walls if necessary, and they'll end up close by without being harmed.
    • What kind of music do you listen to? "All kinds! Depends what mood I'm in."

The power is a bit esoteric, I know, but you said everything was allowed.

Discussion thread is up! I recommend everyone who got accepted to get in there and start planning previously existing relationships between your characters. Tomorrow, I'll make a post about some of the other narrative stuff I want to bring into the RP.

@Yomegami: I had no problems with the trident, though if we were to have her be capable of creating weapons made out of light, wouldn't it be better for her to start off with light manipulation, and you can branch off from there? She could learn how to create fire, or lasers, or anything else you come up with as you play her.

@Lt.Bgob: With that in mind, Zia is accepted.

@wikkit: Ah, that's very interesting! Not sure I've ever seen this powerset before. Ivy is accepted. By the way, do I have carte blanche to develop her friends, or do you have ideas you'd like to share?

@whizzerd: I'm going with a rule that family members are NP Cs the players can control, whilst neighbors and other friends are GMNP Cs. You okay with that? That aside, Ciro is accepted.

@Nickthe Swing: Alright, and one final word of warning. Though I did not personally witness this, I have been told that you have a touchy history with Nazi-related themes and your characters. This is not a ban or anything else, just keep in mind that if we veer into that territory where it's more uncomfortable than fun to roleplay with your character, I have no qualms with cutting him out. You OK with that?

@Lizard: Okay. Simon's accepted.

@Enirboreh: I like the concept of the switch, adds a level of chaos to the proceedings. Daniel's accepted. Also, the only thing keeping your character from getting a superhero name is, well, your character, right? wink

@sven: I like this powerset! Terry's accepted.

@Uncandescent: No, fuck youuuuuu. Hyon's accepted.

@secretly: I don't have a problem with esoteric powersets, I'm just trying to understand how you're gonna RP this out. I mean, follow me here. If you have two player characters connected by red strings, indicating that they will one day fall in love, Mirielle could technically cut that love short or speed it up, right? Yes, well, the problem is... what if the players don't want that? Which means your character will be, at least in my vision, mostly using her powers against NP Cs. And while that's okay, it can be very boring for some people. Are you sure that's what you want?
