IMO if they were going to do Lament of Innocence at all they should have done it first. It's possible that we might get a bit more info about Leon and Drac's past life in the future but officially we don't actually know if this show's Dracula used to be Mathias or not.

[up] I feel like they should have given Mathias some other motivation besides his wife dying, which was just a repeat of what they had already done in Sot N. Maybe something to do with him being part of the Crusades and having some kind of traumatic experience that makes him reject God, since the game takes place around that time anyway.

LOS was written by hacks. I gotta say it.

Are you talking about Lament of Innocence or Lords of Shadow ? tongue If the former you missspelled the acronym, but in either case I kind of agree.

Maybe flashbacks to Leon's era and how the Vampire Killer was made. I don't expect a full season of it, and the Walter and Joachim subplots aren't really good show material anyway.

... I was talking about Innocence. I did misspell the acronym. [lol]

Honestly I have a bone or two to pick with Lords of Shadow but I've barely actually played them and they seem alright enough.

Lament of Innocence was so creatively bankrupt they gave the main villain the same motivation twice.

Eh, I still have a soft spot for it.

Like almost any game it does have bright spots. The character design is cool, the unlocked magic abilities are wicked fun and it gave us Leon's immortal line.

But I can't forgive it for its incredibly janky combat, pointless chokeholding of character abilities, lack of any meaning to the enemy encounters/exploration and treatment of women.

Eh, whatever. This thread is meant to be about the Netflix series. Give us an Alucard shower scene please.

I'm still upset at Lament of Innocence for making Dracula not actually be Dracula.

But being realistic for a second, considering they already did SOTN last season they're gonna have to take an entirely different approach to the story: namely, Dracula already being dead, they'd need a new antagonist suitable for Floating Vampire Jesus and a new character arc for him.

Reeconnecting with humanity after centuries of isolation, perharps.

And they need a new explanation for Dracula ressurrecting inside Soma, Drac's being so powerful that his essence lingered and stuck to the soul of this random Japanese kid, maybe.

Why would they need a new reason for Dracula to be reincarnated as- oh, right. Because in the show there's no soul bond between Dracula and his castle, AKA living chaos, which allows him to reincarnate again and again until the connection is severed. In the show we don't yet know how/why Dracula keeps coming back. Assuming he does.

I don't know if anything in the reviews has jossed this but my theory is Isaac (as Death) tries to revive Dracula somehow with necromancy.

[up][up]He doesn't.

Trevor said as much in Season One: no one knows how Dracula looks like because no one ever survived a fight with him.

Just consider how debilitated he was by the time he fought the trio. At his prime he could take on all of the vampires in his court by himself while making tea and chaging Alucard's diapers.

He doesn't, what?

Isn't it a little premature to say Dracula will never get brought back to life at some point?

He never ressurrected in the show, he was never killed in the first place.

Dracula is the World's Strongest Man. Period, no one can beat him in a straight fight.

[up][up]Now I’m seriously wondering if his resurrections will result in him being much weaker, so it can be explained that someone like Simon could beat him in a straight fight.

Really my main hope is that over the course of this season a lot of stuff starts going wrong for Carmilla and knocks her down a peg or two or ten.

Seriously, the bitch is so insufferably smug for absolutely no reason.

I always just assumed Simon is The Ace of the Belmont family and the greatest hunter the family produced.

[up]That particular Villainous Breakdown is gonna be glorious.

Kind of want Isaac or Sypha to be the one to kill her, she at least showed a sensible amount of fear at the prospect of fighting a Belmont.

It will be interesting to see what personalities they give future Belmonts, since the games didn't really give them that much to start with. Trevor became the bitter drunk, I think because it compliments the bit of backstory that says the Wallachian locals had turned on the Belmonts.

So the first series of Jojo basically? Remember that the first one was all about fighting a vampire and his zombie minions.

The second one was about super vampires and their vampire minions.

The third one was about a vampire (the one in the first series no less) with, um, human minions.

I stand by the idea that Dracula is ressurected, and the revival cycle is set up, but every ressurection makes his mind decay. I would want it to lead to the gut punch by say, the Symphony era or god forbid, 1999 where Alucard asks Dracula how Lisa would feel, and Dracula responds with something to the effect of "Who?".

It would explain why he went after Mina Harker, and given that reincarnation is a thing in the Castlevania universe, it's possible that it was because she reminded him of Lisa Tepes.

There's a running theory that all of Dracula's love interests are reincarnations of the same soul. Namely, Elisabetha, Lisa, and Mina Hakuba.

I've seen that theory and I think it's true in the case of Hakuba-Harker, but it'd be neat if it got outright confirmed or had Mina connected to Lisa, for whom the Elizabetha reincarnation theory holds a lot of water given their names and early deaths.
