Hmm, France hasn't banned glyphosate actually. From what I get the law passed plans to ban its commercialization… in five years. But even then farmers will still be allowed to use their stocks, which could last a few more years. So it's a case of "we'll pretend to do something but without pissing off the lobbyists too much."
Which is the main issue we're facing. Governments acknowledging that the problem exists and looking very concerned… then proceeding to do as little as possible. And on the other side, sadly, a large chunk of the left dismissing climate change issues as just first world problems, a diversion to neutralize the workers' struggle.
Also, that former Greenpeace guy is just sad to listen to… It reminds me of the Reporters Without Borders founder who ended up defending such lovely things as the 2002 coup in Venezuela, torture in Iraq and French colonialism, before becoming an islamophobic far right mayor.
PS: I could have done without the tuned-up slurping sound effects. Yuk.
PS2: It took me a while to realize that the Reasonablist Bear was voiced by Shaun…

The Aquaman joke surpassed all my expectations.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I found the "He's written ten books about how it's the left's fault that conservatism keeps making things worse for everyone." line to be funnier in a way. It's just so true and said so casually that it keeps cracking me up.
Apathy is Death. Worse than Death, because at least a rotting corpse feeds beasts and insects.I'm more surprised that he actually sacrificed a wall for that Aquaman joke.
It's just a bit of wallpapered plasterboard he set up as background. I highly doubt it's actually a wall in a building - seems far too thin for a start.
Owen Jones, Guardian Journalist and noted socialist, also shared that clip. Sobek is spreading...
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."This month, an exposé about director's cuts, what it means to have "creative control" over a movie, the romanticized idea of an authentic cut, and the potential downsides or Unfortunate Implications of this practice.

The discussion about the merit of leaving up old flawed information is interesting to me because I see it a lot everywhere. From movies, to video game DLC, to tweets, to YouTube videos. And all these places have their own concerns with the ease of editing a product.
For video games, some players have voiced concerns that edits to a game, whether for balance or to add new games modes and other content, sometimes seem to encourage developers to push out a rushed product with the promise of correcting all the rough spots later.
For tweets or YouTube videos, there's the concern that they could be used to put out something morally awful then quickly change it all to gaslight people. Someone tweets out "kill all puppies", racks up a bunch of hate clicks, then changes it to "hug all puppies" and complains about "critics" who hate them for "no reason".
Recently I watched a Let's Play where one of the players discussed whether they should delete all their prior videos, since they had come out as non-binary and were undergoing transition surgery, and so felt uncomfortable with video of them pre-transition. Ultimately they decided to leave the videos up since they felt confident in trusting their mostly queer audience with being responsible and having a personal connection to the videos. It was an interesting thing to consider all around.

It's also interesting to see the opposite phenomenon sometimes, like the PS4 remake of the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy, which deliberately kept the Good Bad Bugs intact.
Out of curiosity, I watched his video on speedrunning to see more of his "non-political" content, and I found it strangely moving. Who knew a practice so silly and futile could cultivate such great human values.
By the way, anyone knows what he's been doing this year? Seems like he hasn't posted in a while.
Recently he's been preparing a 3-hour video about RWBY being a pile of garbage. From what I know he's largely finished, so he might upload soon-ish.
As for the speedrunning video, it is indeed quite moving, though I can't help but feel it presents the discipline in a forcefully positive light, overlooking some... less pristine aspects of speedrunning. Or maybe hbomberguy has somehow steered clear of the more toxic speedrunning communities, like Goldeneye or Doom.
Apathy is Death. Worse than Death, because at least a rotting corpse feeds beasts and insects.I think that's fairly common for people who aren't in those specific communities. I've got into a few channels who make all/mostly speedrunning content and they tend to avoid that stuff too. There's the occasional video about cheating, but I can only remember one that got really bad.
Really, RWBY? That is a bit disappointing. I mean, yeah, RWBY is not, at all, good, but it is not, like, massively popular or anything, nor does it receive a lot of critical acclaim. It is just a bad web series, feels a bit silly to publish a hit piece.
Then again, he might have a more interesting take than just pointing out the series flaws, so I will look forward to it.
I think he mentioned on twitter, that he has several videos in production but none finished. Something about needing to get organized better.
Well, when that RWBY vid comes out I'll b sure to watch it. RWBY Criticism is nothing new, but seeing someone outside the usual critic-circle dig into it is interesting.

His RWBY video is getting dmca'd on upload. He's currently been poking for lawyers on Twitter. Leonard French offered to help, among others.
The same that if they happen a week later?
I really want to see what he has to say about that.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."x2 I mean, I'm just surprised at the automation of the system if it can take down a video on release, without anyone having to have watched it. Maybe it's because I'm getting the wrong impression but it sounds like it was taken down immediately on upload.
Huh, meanwhile I finally watched his Skyrim video. I must say, despite not caring one bit about Skyrim, I found his analysis of its flaws really fascinating; it made me envision aspects of game design I had never considered before.
So, for over half a day now H Bomb have been tweeting about his experience trying to upload the video. It have been so much of a mess that it might become a video in itself in the future.
I haven't even seen the damn show but now I'm tempted to watch the video out of a sort of spite towards the copyright system.
Video is out for patrons. It's over 2h long
Well finally.
