I believe the reason BB is a Beast is because she absorbs the Authority of the Mother Goddesses i.e. Tiamat

That and/or something to do with the Ten Crowns skill.

It's BB. Nasu ain't gotta explain shit, but he will, with pages upon pages of convoluted exposition.

Anyway, I read up on the first two Lostbelts and their Crypters. Sounds like things are really going to be ramping up starting with Lostbelt #3; can't wait to have to decipher ancient Chinese in this one and then Buddhist theory in the next.

It's been fun.

Been watching the subbed CCC event and I'm actually warming up to BB, surprisingly enough. I still think she's annoying as all shit, but in a more Lovable Alpha Bitch manner.

Also, in Act 1, 6/6, is Melt actually talking with a sleeping Ritsuka, or is she monologuing by herself? Maybe the translator just fucked up, but I honestly couldn't tell.

. . .I also think I should tone down all the cursing in my posts.

[up]Wasn't Lostbelt 4 Hinduism? Does Bhudhism has that whole "universe blows up, resets, blows up again, rinse and repeat" deal as well?

Oh right, Hinduism. I vaguely remembered some mention of lotus symbolism and I seem to have gotten the wrong religion.

Either way, it's gonna be very kanji-heavy and I am gonna die trying to understand it.

It's been fun.

BB was always an Alpha Bitch with a masochist streak crushing hard on Haluno and Robin.

That's Lip, BB and Melt are more sadists, while Kiara is everything under the sun and quite a bit more.

Also, sometimes you got to wonder if Nasu and Co. have something against poor Robin.

@Red: Think of it as a learning exercise.

I only really know my kana (and even that is quite faulty), is Nasu's writing really that complex, or is it just the parts that relates to mo esoteric (for lack of a better adjective) concepts like religious teachings?

Honestly curious: FGO is pretty far reaching in terms of audience, I'd expect it would keep the writing to a more high school level when it comes to the kanji used. (Of course, if Japan is anything like Brazil, most people don't know how to use even that level of grammar, but I digress).

[up]That makes no sense! Only Damien and Tim are stil using the Robin identity!

The Throne of Heroes snickers derisively at the idea of linear time. It could summon Carrie Kelly as Robin if it wanted.

Fate/ has a relatively high share of characters speaking varying levels of archaic and Type-Moon as a whole has a lot of original terminology to memorize, but other than that it's fairly standard.

Arha Since: Jan, 2010

iirc Gilgamesh doesn't speak real archaic Japanese, but a kind of 'I'm showing off my writing ability by making him sound archaic in a literature type way' Japanese. And Nero is all 'HAVE AT THEE, KNAVE' level of ridiculousness. That's not really the part that gets impenetrable so much as all the obscure religion and synchretism that basically requires you to be knowledgeable about old Japanese myths and multiple sects of Buddhism.

Yeah, of course. Real archaic would require immense levels of obtuse inconvenience, like wi/we kanas, no small tsu/ya/yo and nonsensical writing like kyou being spelled as けふ.

Ye Olde Butchere English, in other words?

Not that I see that as a demerit: Japanese is so old, it's actual archaic form is probably another language entirely.

As a rule, the differences between the Old version of a language to its modern descendent are often notorious and glaring, let's not forget how dissimilar is Old English to modern British or Usonian English or Old Spanish/Castillian to modern Spanish/Castillian.

Yeah, it's not butchered, it's just more literary archaic-sounding Japanese than old Japanese. Think more dramatic but understandable, like Lord of the Rings, perhaps, than Chaucer. (For example, Gil uses ware, or at least Casgil does, and Nero uses yo, which is showier and more rank-conscious.) As far as old Japanese goes, I've done some work on manuscripts from the Edo Period, and it's amazing how understandable it is... if you have someone fluent in Classical Japanese explaining how things read.

And yeah, it's really more the religious terminology that's going to be a pain. I barely understand some of the stuff discussed in English, let alone after having to figure out how to read a string of eight kanji, what they mean, then what that concept means for what's being discussed.

Well, here's hoping 4* Shuten is a Saber; I'm stocking up on EXP cards just in case.

My weakest class is probably Assassin, but I normally cover that niche with Alter Egos.

Plus Shuten already has an assassin form, so no luck there.

I'm not too concerned about whatever class she is, I just hope she has a useful enough skill/stat line to actually have some kind of niche for me. Like how Kuro is actually pretty useful as a boss killer if I feel like it.

Lacking that, only having one freebie Lancer and a kinda bad AOE one at that means I'd like to see her be a ST Lancer.

^^^ Fran's got great NP gen and is pretty solid overall, but being a Quick Servant means that you need Skadi on the field to get a lot of use out of her.
