I'll just say one thing: Zamasu was right.
Now, back to Ryanchu, I took a look at tge games' page, why is this Pikachu unable to shoot electricity?
Am I the only one thinking that WB will push Detective Pikachu back in order to keep it from getting power-bombed through a table by Avengers 4?
Edit: Holy shit 20 million views on YouTube.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherThe movie's trailer has gotten more likes than the Godzilla trailer. The views is already getting closer to Godzilla's views.
I imagine it's a lot like Meowth in the anime. He can talk, but in exchange, he's going to be a shitty fighter.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.I'm banking on a "detective Pikachu was actually a human" twist myself.
You should try working with Marvel and DC comics. That kind of twist is right up their alley.
x3 I sure hope so! Good or bad, Avengers 4 will be all people will talk about during the release week.

Would it be better if Pikachu was actually Tim's dad mashed together with his loyal partner?
It would be better if they never tried justifying it at all.
"This Pikachu can talk. End of story, move on, nothing to see here."
Sometimes, trying to explain stuff is entirely the wrong thing to do, narrative-wise, just watch the latest Terminator.
...or better yet, don't. Spend the time laying down in bed, smelling your own farts. Far better use of your time, trust me.

Let me guess,it's not actually a pokemon but a man who was turned into pokmeon so he wouldn't report the ultimate conspiracy!
New theme music also a boxThe trailer just hit 21 million views in 24 hours.
Well it is a live action pokemon movie, somewhere the execs who greenlighted this film are hoping the millions views on youtube will tranlate into a blockbuster film
I mean it is pokemon so it should be easy sell,on the other hand the realistic pokemon might be a deal breaker and put fans off and concerns over the tone of the film could make parents wary,in the worst scenario and this film bombs it would negatively effect the pokemon brand
New theme music also a boxNot much more than the Mario movies. At worst it will make TPC grumble at WB for two decades.
Where there's life, there's hope.An anime reviewer puts into words what I couldn't about why he is hyped for the movie:
Gist of it is:
- The movie is based on the Detective Pikachu game, which has linear, dialogue heavy gameplay practically designed to be transplanted to film.
- Faithfulness to the source material. By all appearances it looks like it takes place in the Pokemon universe we all know and love. And since it's a side story it doesn't have to worry about stepping on any toes from the rest of the franchise.
- That the most bankable star, Ryan Reynolds, is playing Pikachu. He sees this as the studio being confident enough in the work on its own that they aren't worried about the fact that the biggest name in the film doesn't actually appear.
- That the other main character isn't a Pokemon trainer, but an office worker who once did have dreams of being a master. He finds this a novel approach that might resonate with older fans who eventually grew out of the games and shows.
- The Pokemon look cool and look like they're being used in cool ways.
This is going to end up being the Mario + Rabbids of Cinema isn't it where it sounds like it shouldn't work but actually turns out pretty fun
You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price. My expectation is that it'll be a decent, fun family flick. I'm not asking for much more.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau Project…Honestly, the mere fact that I watched this trailer and thought that a freaking live action Pokémon film might actually be decent, is a tour de force in itself…
Though I admittedly didn't know it was based on a point-and-click game. That makes a lot more sense all of a sudden.

So far it looks like they did a really good job portraying an "everyday people who live in the Pokemon world" perspective, which was the number one thing I was worried about, so I'm good.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. This actually looks like fun. Ryan Reynolds sounds hilarious, the kid seems like he'll be fun, I really like the look/feel of the world here, there's several funny jokes just in the trailer, I like the tone that they seem to be going for, and while the Pokémon don't look "realistic" per se, the visual design of them is still working for me actually. It's probably as "realistic" as you can make them in a live action film without radically altering their designs.
Also PLEASE let Ken Watanabe play his cop role straight all the way through. Him talking about Pokémon like it's the most serious thing in the world was both awesome and hilarious at the same time.
I know you were talking about the game, but it got me to recall how Movie!Pikachu mentioned electrocuting Tim when they first meet.
This got me thinking Detective Pikachu either has electric powers this time around or he’s bluffing because he thought Tim wouldn't understand him.
Also, the way Pikachu and Tim meet this time makes me think it’s a mythology gag to the Electric Tales of Pikachu manga, where a human meets a Pikachu while the latter was causing a ruckus. Not sure if it’s on purpose or just a coincidence.
Finally, as I was typing this, it just occurred to me that Detective Pikachu has the same initials as Deadpool. (Detective Pikachu, Deadpool. DP.) Has anyone else noticed that?
Detective Pikachu is actually a Zoroark
New theme music also a boxIt’s a Mimikyu with a really convincing disguise.

We're about 40,000 likes off to 1 million on Youtube.
Holy shit.
The Pentagon throws money at Hollywood to portray the military favorably, but since this is a UN peacekeeping team idk if it counts
I made a new thread for Monster Hunter so we don't get off-topic https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15421311490A57732600&page=1#1
