Millennials/Generation Y discussion

Europe is pretty anti-military since the World Wars destroyed most of their countries and cost the European Superpowers (The UK, who were the top Superpower of the world before WW 2, and France) their colonies and their global influence, which caused them to lose their Superpower statuses.

I'm talking about in the UK, it has been getting worse, always happens when the economy goes tits up

I am not military but war veterans seem to get the short end of the stick after the war ended.

X4 We're realy not, Internet Americans seem to think that all of Europe's hates the military and the US but we actually don't.

X3 You're also wrong, military worship over here hasn't gotten particularly bad, the government are a pain as always but also as always you're making poorly researched points and misinforming everyone.

Well, they're the generation after mine so, of course, they are objectively the worst generation and will doom the future. And their music is bad. And they need to keep off my lawn. Did I miss anything?

Now, see, some would call 1986 "early millennial" rather than "late gen x".

Yeah I'm pretty sure you're one of us. The generational divide is pretty blurry but generally it's a 20 year block, so folks in their mid teens now up to folks in their early 30s.

Edit: The Other Wiki agrees with me "There are no precise dates for when the generation starts and ends; most researchers and commentators use birth years ranging from the early 1980s to around 2000.".

Which does make one wonder, what on earth are the post millennium generation going to be like?

I normally just flip them off and tell em to piss off, and if they get defensive I will start mocking them, but I'm a bit of a git like that

In this age with widespread internet, it is somewhat easy to get offended by someone who has a point and they may actually be right. I know it is an impossible task not to get offended or offend anyone but how do you respond those types who purposely offend you to make a point? Think of those George Carlin types.

mock them, usually have a go at their ego if they deliberately try to offend you, something along the lines of it being so small they have to belittle people over the Internet

Speaking of everyone going soft and I know that this is only a symptom of a generational gap, why does everyone complain of our generation being soft?

Because that's what every generation does.

Give it time and we'll be complaining about the post 2000s generation going soft and being lazy.

I guess that is true. The sad part is is that our children's children are going to say the exact same thing about the next generation that comes after them.The more things change, the more things stay the same.

I pretty much expect at some point to be asked why on earth would people think "ironic" fascism would be a great idea despite World War II. Hopefully I'll have an adequate answer then, if I'm still alive, that is.

Kinda funny, really. Generation Y's predecessors are complaining (some might say they're triggered by) about "trigger warnings" and "safe spaces", yet deliberately turn a blind eye to increasingly overt fascist and/or neo-Nazi tendencies among certain members of Generation Y, if not actively encouraging the adoption of said tendencies.
