Rex told Lune that Ben had left to check out the city earlier and that rustbucket insulted Rex. When Sadness tripped over Rex’s foot by accident, Rex comforted her by saying that a group of people would be willing to help Sadness out. Lune smiled, seeing as this is a chance to be a hero!
“Sure,” replied Lune. “I’d love to help you out, Rex.”
Aigis replied to Rex that she wasn’t trying to be humorous. She said it in a way that reminded her of Lamia Loveless without those goofy voice shenanigans. Lamia could be serious at one point in combat before unintentionally switching to an upbeat, perky voice or slipping up on her words. Aigis even asked how the rustbucket could move, given how dirty it looked.
Unfortunately, Ms. Tairee hasn’t seen where Mary went earlier. She noted that Mary was pretty upset yesterday. Guess cartoon shenanigans aren’t for everyone, huh? Sadness panicked and asked if Rex and the others would be willing to help.
Caro walked up to the others and filled in the details for Lune a bit. Apparently, there was a challenge to fight someone, and the reward was more food. Caro mentioned something about a dream she had last night. According to Caro, she dreamed about that time she had to fight her friends, and then that dream took a dark twist. She read the Warhammer 40K encyclopedia too much and that somehow influenced her dream.
Lune replied, “You know… I had a dream too. I think you and some of the others were in it. You either piloted a giant robot or you were bigger than usual.”
Zelda told everyone she can’t participate in today’s challenge because she wasn’t a fighter. She’ll do more research on this Lord of Change and keep an eye on the situation in the library. Zelda also mentioned that Sans went missing last night. Caro said that was fine, and she’ll be willing to find Sans and Mary. Ms. Tairee butted in and mentioned Old Featherbeak’s motivation. Old Featherbeak wanted to dominate the city and then escape if possible.
Rex asked what would happen if Old Featherbeak took over the city and wondered if he will be sent back. Unfortunately, Old Featherbeak is staying in the City because the chaos he’ll stir up will be quite inspirational for Ms. Tairee’s boss. However, if Old Featherbeak were to step out of line, he’ll be erased in a heartbeat. Rex also noticed Caro speaking up and asked who she and Fried were.

The City, Middle Tier
It was nice to see Ben settle things with Cole. Grimlock couldn't help but chuckle at the inconvinience of Ben's transformation. But he was still serious from what Cole said.
"I wanna help too. No way am I gonna let that guy hurt you guys," he said with a determined face.
"You said you had a dream... That dream... Make it come true! ... If anyone can, it's you!" - N (shortened) Oh, and I'm a girl.
The Tick was pleasantly surprised to find a criminal so willing to come to terms. "Well, Rick Sanchez, I'm sorry to say that a life of crime is no living worth making for yourself. But I can plainly see that while you stand in the wrong circumstance, that heart of yours surely stands in the right-"
Suddenly, smoke bombs! The Tick hacked and spluttered, wafting away as much of the smoke as he could, only to find the culprit making his way downtown at terrific speed.
"Ski-shoes?! In a temperate metropolis with no water or snow beneath him?! By golly, this man's breaking each rule in every book! Get back here, you duplicitous damager of snow gear!" The Tick pursued Rick once again, this time bounding off the walls on either side of the street in hopes of getting the drop on him.
It didn't take Arthur long to spot Rick's little errand boy hurrying down the lane. He also quickly noticed the pubescently high pitch of Morty's yelling, along with the panicked, awkward way he stumbled to the ground and dropped his gear.
"Hey, wait a minute. You're just a kid!" Arthur dropped down in front of Morty, and tried his best not to intimidate the lad. Not that a pudgy man in a white moth suit was going to look all that threatening anyway. "Now, just take it easy, I'm not gonna hurt you. Did that guy in the ski mask put you up to this?"

Middle Layer, The Meeting
Sawyer frowned when Cole began explaining the situation, again putting her in a role of a precious artifact to protect at all costs.
"We will not have that." Her original Ultravoice tone was about as quasi-mechanical and haunting as it should be. "No. We... will be hunting... that demon. And we will break it." She glanced at Sans and Grimlock, two people whom she considered capable. Ben... had good intentions. "But we need a... bigger group or... a strong ally of convenience."

Cole looked to Sans when he approaching, looking thoughtful for a moment, before looking to Sawyer, shaking his head. "You don't understand...I don't want you to get hurt because of me. But this demon...I think it can find me just as easily as I could find it. It knows! It knows I care about you, it knows how to-,"
Cole stopped, pulling back just a bit, reaching up to pull at the edges of his hat as though to hide under it better, face reddening again. "You're s-strong. You can take care of yourself. In any other fight I wouldn't...do this. But you can't get hurt because of me, you can't...I can't be responsible for hurting more people!"

"And you won't." Sawyer retorted with a shrug. "If it hurts or kills me.... it will be its fault."
"Besides, if we... split up, it will be... easier for it to... root us out... one after another." She pointed out, shaking her head.

Top layer - Streets
Garrett left the library and proceeded to have a stroll around, taking in the sights (and prying off the more precious-looking gemstones with his dagger when nobody was looking.) Eventually, he came upon an elevator, and proceeded down...
Middle layer - Streets
...to the next layer of the city. He whistled, impressed; this place looked a lot more like home. Even the storefronts stocked with unfamiliar technology, that looked a lot slicker than the Hammerites' finest inventions, didn't take away from the familiar air. But the best part about it all?
"Ah, shadows. Finally."
He moved into the darkness, and became all but invisible as he moved through the streets.
Middle layer - Streets, with Ben and others
It did not take long before Garrett stumbled upon Cole, Sawyer, Ben, and a couple of others, who were hotly discussing the demon. Garrett got as close as he could undetected, then emerged from the shadows. "So, Cole. Are you okay now?" he asked, a bit concerned; the boy looked almost as unhinged as yesterday. I hope the others at least had enough sense to take away his weapons, he thought.
"I hear some of you are eager to strike against the birdhead," he addressed the others, "but we'll need to prepare first. There's a lot of what looks like useful gadgetry and weapons in some of these stores, but I'm unfamiliar with half of it. Any of you recognize any stuff that would come in handy?"

"i was just curious about something," said Sans, answering Ben's question, the kid then reverted back to their normal appearance and then sheepishly smiled at him like he was embarassed for being seen the way he normally looked "huh, i didn't even realize i never saw the normal you until now. you don't actually look all that different from what i expected, maybe a little shorter." He shrugged.
He then looked over to Sawyer and Cole, the latter seemingly being very concerned about the former's safety for some reason. From what he could tell they must've been taking about whatever ended up possessing Ben and Twilight yesterday given that Sawyer mentioned a demon. It sure sounded like he missed quite a bit while hanging out at the diner.
"i don't really know what you guys are talking about but..."
As if on cue, Garrett showed up asking about any useful gadgets, Sans let out a chuckle at the timely question and removed the bag with the cellphones in it from the dimensional box, it materializing itself in the middle of the group. There were countless cellphones inside it, after all he was unsure of just how many people he would need to give those to, he certainly didn't bother to count at least.
"here you go, with these we can talk to each other no matter where we go in this place," said Sans, looking quite pleased with himself before noticing that his journal was in that same bag, so he picked it up, before anybody else could try to take a look at what he had been writing it; for anybody looking at it, the notebook didn't look particularly noteworthy outside of the fact that it appropriatelly had a drawing of a skeleton on it, "though... does anybody here knows how to use a phone in the first place?"

"I—thank you," Sadness said sincerely. "I don't know anything about this, um, Lord of Change, but we'll be okay, right? Well, maybe not, but, um. That's okay. We've gotta go!"
Already, she was backing away from them anxiously, hurrying towards the library's exit.

"I've never seen anything like this," Garrett said, examining the phone from every direction. He tried pressing one of the tiny buttons, getting a bit startled when the small glass plate suddenly shined with a conglomeration of odd symbols. "You're gonna have to give us a run-through, Bones."

Streets, Near Ben's Group, Middle Layer (So many commas)
Specter Knight kept his distance from the large group, at least until he saw a skeleton approach them. Said skeleton seemed to have odd proportions, but at least it was something familiar. He couldn't quite tell, but it looked like the skeleton had conjured a bag of some sort. His curiosity piqued, he teleported over towards the group.
For the Horde!
Ben raised an eyebrow as Sans brought out the bag of cell phones. Then he smiled. "Nice. Yeah, I used a cell phone before," he told the skeleton, reaching out and grabbing a cell phone from the bag, examining it. He started pressing a couple of buttons on the front. "How do you check the number on this thing?" he asked. Finally, he reached the screen where it displayed the phone's number. 555-0010. Of course. "Thanks, Sans," he responded.
He then heard Garrett's voice and he jumped, turning in his direction. "Geez! Don't sneak up on us like that!" he exclaimed. He regained his composure. "Anyway. The library's on the top level of the city now. And it's gorgeous! You guys should totally see it!" he exclaimed excitedly. Then Specter Knight appeared right next to them and he yelped, stumbling onto his rear end. "Haven't you guys ever heard of walking up and saying hi?!" he shouted.
I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.
"XLR 8?" Plague Knight parroted when Ben said the name of the alien he was previously. "X.....L.....R.....8........"
A beat.
"Aw yes, I understand now! Speed based pun, how droll," he said, finding the pun clever but not really all that hilarious. Then Cole and Sawyer explain what happened to them last night. "Anyway, it seems that it is confirmed this Old Feather Beak individual is indeed a demon and is in fact the leader of the Ruckus. The fact he can enter the dreams of others already puts him as an extremely powerful individual, as such abilities are not even possible with the magic of my universe. Maybe my original idea of siccing Marcus the Ruckus is justified....."
Then Sans came in with the bag of cell phones. "Ooooo, fascinating......" The alchemist rummaged through and pulled out a smartphone. After examining it curiously, he pressed a button on the side. The screen flashed open, startling him a bit. "Do I literally slide this thing on a solid surface or do I slide something across the screen?" he asked.
Then Spectre Knight came by. "Ah, there you are, you old ghoul!" Plague Knight greeted. "Did not see you at all the previous day! Though it is understandable, as the theme involved the use of comedy, and you have no sense of humor at all. HA!"

"No big deal for... me." Sawyer walked over to retrieve two phones, one for herself and the other for Cole. Teaching him how to use it was another thing entirely. "Looking fancy. Back home... they're much bigger." She mused as she effortlessly operated the device, stopping only for a moment to browse over the general options.
"I prefer not to... use it too much... messes up the voice." Pocketing both, she glanced over at Garett and Plague Knight having trouble operating their cellphones. No surprise here. "Best that Sans... does the explaining. It's a bit... of a talk."

Mary (Apartment Building, Middle Layer) - Attention Deficit... Ooh Shiny!
Mary stared at Old Feather Beak with eyes wide as plates. Nevermind that he was so tall, nevermind that his feathers were blue, but he was just so... shiny. His feathers were shiny and so was his fancy stick. It was very impressive. However, so was the smell of food, so she quickly headed into the kitchen to find a woman cooking something. She could tell that the woman's face was being a bit weird, but she decided not to comment on it.
"Hi, I'm Mary," the girl replied to Kelsey, tugging her own sleeves a bit. "Nice to meet you too."
Needless to say, she was nowhere as enthusiastic as she had been the night before, and it reflected in her face as she looked around the kitchen, seemingly searching for something.
I just want to help!
Cole sighed softly at Sawyer's attempt to reassure him, but just crossed his arms, staying silent as he watched the others discussing Ben's forms and the strange little blocks that Sans was handing out. He rocked on his heels a bit, glancing around the area, staring in one particular direction for a second, before turning towards it, biting his lip slightly as he was clearly contemplating something. "...I'm sorry," he finally said again softly.

Listening to flamingo face there, it sounded like the bird guy Ben and Twilight came across before was indeed the one who possessed them and is also in control over that gang, the Ruckus. Not only that but that thing could also enter dreams? Whatever that guy was must be really powerful, as the guy himself said.
However, for now he had to teach people how to use a cellphone, though at least some of them already knew how it worked. Sans picked up one of the phones himself so he could explain better since those were different from his own.
"that's a touchscreen, you interact with the cellphone by touching on the icons." Sans answered Plague Knight as he tried to navigate through the phone's setting to find the phone number like Ben did, "using these is not hard, you should be able to find an icon that leads to the settings of the phone and there you can check info about the system and you can find your phone number, that's the number we'll have to use in order to call you. there's also an icon for you to add contacts so you won't have to keep the numbers all in your head, then you just initiate a call and..."
He then dialed Ben's number which he conveniently said aloud earlier as an example, once Ben's phone began ringing, he would resume his explanation
"... that happens. then you just have to answer the call and we can talk from any distance. if you think the ringing is annoying, you can set the phone to just vibrate when someone is calling you, or you can just send a text message through the phone."
He then left the phone into the bag with the others and began using his own again so he could add Ben's number into it.
"by the way, my phone number is 1901-1419," he told everyone, then direct his gaze towards Ben, apparently the library was in the upper floor and it sounded like that floor was completely different from the one they were currently in "so the library is in the floor above this one? are there any elevators around to switch between floors?"
Top Floor - Library
Zelda said that she had a nightmare as well and she too felt a presence that she identified as the Lord of Change that they had learnt about last night. " That's defiitely ... unsettling, to say the least. I makes me wonder if either the Lord of Change itself or the storyteller god weren't somehow affecting such dreams, which is certainly a really scary thought ... "
But then Lune mentioned that she had a weird dream too, but it didn't seem to involve the Lord of Change, just other people in the city appearing in it and either piloting the robots she had mentioned or having changed sizes. " So you didn't feel the Lord of Change's presence in your dream? If so, that's a relief. It means that it is either not the daemon itself affecting our dreams, just result of reading about it, which was scary enough by itself or that it isn't affecting everyone."
Zelda reiterated that she wouldn't be much help in a fight and she would stay behind to do more research and also to keep an eye out for Mary and Sans. To this, Rex responded that she could come if she wanted, since they would be focusing on searching for their friends rather than facing the challenge or the Lord of Change. " You know, he's right. Since he will be focusing on searching for your friends, you definitely help with that. We probably should avoid the Lord of Change, for now, until we know more about his power and such. It's likely that we will to face the challenge once we have found Mary and maybe Sans too, but you don't have to go along with that if you don't want to. But at the end of the day, it's your choice if you want to go or not."
Zelda also somewhat asked to try to learn about the Lord of Change if they end up unavoidably encountering, though she also said that they should be careful and not actively seek him out. " We will do our best. I don't want to face it yet at this point, but if I end meeting it and there is no other way, I will try to find as much as I can."
Miss Tairee explained the Lord of Change's motivation was simply to gain power and control over everyone else. When Rex asked what the librarian's boss would do if the greater daemon took over the city, Miss Tairee said that such thing happening would actually benifit him in a way and he would only deal with the Lord of Change if he made everything boring, but could effectively erase him from existence if that were to happen.
Rex then greeted her and asked who she and Fried where. " Hello there. My name is Caro Ru Lushe and my friend here is my dragon summon Friedrich, Fried for short. Your name is Rex, right? It's nice to meet you." Then since Rex had mentioned being able to fly and offering to do it to look for Mary from above, she added, " I can help with that. If I unseal Fried's adult form, I could ride him and help you look for her that way. Though with the way the city changes, I'm not sure if that is gonna help as much as it would if this as a normal place."
Sadness then expressed corcerns about the Lord of Change and said that she should get going, quickly heading towards the exit. Caro calmly joined, along with anyone else that might have followed them. " We can explain about that later. Like you said, she really should just go and start looking for her. But I really hope that we don't end up running the Lord of Change just yet. We are not ready to deal with him yet."

City Streets, Middle Layer- What the Hell is This Thing?
It appeared that Specter Knight had startled the boy with his sudden appearance, which was fine by him. He rolled his eyes at Plague Knight's comment, but made no reply. So what, if he had no sense of humor whatsoever?
Apparently, from what the others were saying, somebody who called himself Old Feather Beak was the leader of the group Ruckus, and was a powerful demon, to boot. Wonderful, just wonderful.
Then the skeleton started instructing the group on how to use the odd devices. Specter Knight picked one up, and as soon as he turned it on, its bright screen briefly blinded him, causing him to drop it on the ground. When he picked it up again, he found, to his great annoyance, that it now had a crack on the top-right corner of the screen. "Damn it.", he muttered under his breath.
After that, the skeleton asked if there was a way to travel between floors. "I noticed there was a staircase earlier." Specter Knight replied.

Plague Knight followed Sans' instructions. After figuring out the log in screen, the knight soon became a natural at operating the device. At least the phone and texting options.
Spectre Knight then blinded himself when he activated one of the phone. "HA!" he laughed.
The alchemist then checked the settings. "Here, it saws that the number assigned to this phone is......427-641-7243."
DAMMIT MARK, STOP HOTTING HELPY!!
"Uh..." Morty stared up at the amn in front of him... who resembled a man in some kind of... bunny suit? No, wait, it had wings on the back. A flying bunny suit? A, a, flying squirrel suit or something?
"I mean... uh..." Morty flipped up his night-vision goggles as he picked himself up off the ground, grabbing a cellphone box. "Kind of? Like... yes, but no... 'cause, there's a demon coming... at least that's what my gra-I mean, uh, what Rick said." Realizing that he'd already spilled the beans about who he was and what he was doing, Morty sighed. "Okay, look... Rick, h-he's my grandpa. He knows this kind of stuff." There was another pause. "Like, a lot about this kind of stuff."
Morty squinted at the guy, who seemed more curious than anything else. "A-are you, uh, new here?"
As he slid across the sidewalk, Rick grabbed a lamppost and used it to pull a sharp, 90-degree turn down a random alleyway. He went sliding up until he reached the end of the alleyway- up against a rotten, decaying fence- and retracted his skis, waiting for the huge blue man to catch up to him. "Alright, alright, you *urp* you got me," he said, putting his hands up over his head. "No smoke bombs, no nothing, you win. Hooray."
There was a pause while Rick fumbled around in a pocket for his trusty flask, which he leisurely unscrewed and downed. "Of course, what if *urp* I told you that the stuff I... well... not stole, because you can't steal something that doesn't belong to anyone... wasn't on me? Or the fact that all that stuff is probably the only thing standing *urp* be-between us and existential annihilation?"
Bottom Tier
Nanoha was kind of confused by everything blowing up around her as everyone dashed off.
"I'm just someone who got stuck here, I guess."
She paused.
"Is it normally this chaotic around here?"
"Yup. That tasted purple."
THE SLORG!
Silanea glared lightly at Sans after his last comment towards them while he was walking away. "What is it with people in this city and their obsession with getting a last word in?" Silanea thought out loud, shaking her head and turning to slither away, motioning for the rest of the anti-human group to follow her. The two cat ladies glanced over at the party distributing cell phones among each other, conversed with each other for a moment and shared a shrug before going inside the diner.
Kelsey went back to cooking, her facial expression still twitching slightly. Old Feather Beak leaned his long neck around the cabinets separating the little kitchen from the little dining room, and gazed at Mary. "Is there something you need, Mary?" Old Feather Beak asked, watching her search.
On the counter in the corner of the room was a stocked knife block; there was also a pair of what seemed to be swords laying next to it, tucked between it and the wall. They were curved and covered in a lot of superfluous, jagged teeth on the cutting edge though.
"Yup" the krogan answered Nanoha simply as he watched the moth/bunny dressed man leave.
"We got people from all kinds of universes stuffed in here; it's like a blender with everything in the kitchen crammed into it" the human man said.
"If you think this is bad, yesterday even the physics was wonky" the krogan added.

Shiara briefly thought about leaving the Library, but thought it might not be the best idea. Ignoring the other conversations, she walked up to Miss Tairee.
"Excuse me miss librarian, but would this library happen to have a book on how to remove-annoying-spells-put-on-you-by-over-polite-long-lost-princes-using-their-riculously-over- powered-sword?"
Shiara figured that while she was here, she might as well try to get rid of this dumb politeness spell.

XLR8 glanced over at Sans as he walked over to the group. "What was up with that over there?" he asked the skeleton, gesturing towards the cat girls and Silanea nearby the diner. At that moment, the Omnitrix started flashing red and beeping, then the area was flooded with red light. Ben was now standing there in his human form. "Well, that just happened," Ben muttered. He looked up at Sans, with a sheepish smile on his face. "So yeah. This is what I normally look like, I guess."
