Yeah, a work isn't dark because it uses dark concepts, but largely because of the tone it takes. I mean, Mystery Science Theater 3000 is ostensibly about a man who is kidnapped and tortured in isolation, but it's one of the goofiest shows in existence.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. Also stuff like Copy X being Robo Hitler, and Weil's utterly horrible crimes.
Original plans for MMZ were even darker, because Copy X wasn't supposed to be a Copy.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Guys, it just hit me.
If this Mega Man show ends up on Disney XD and Man of Action (who's also doing the Marvel shows on DXD) is in on the production of this show, wouldn't that increase the likelihood of having a full-on Marvel vs. Capcom event on television?!
Necroing this thread because...
Hey, you guys remember how we're getting a new Mega Man show next year?
We got a (probably placeholder) logo for it.
If there's a God up there, please don't let this show be plagued by focus testers. Please makes these stooges learn from history's mistakes. Please look more like that nice-looking sales pitch.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease.
I hope this will be similar to the Archie comics.
Haven't been on this thread since I last commented. Didn't notice the reply until now. And to the smart ass who assume I didn't read the comics, yeah I did read the comics: it was still a simple and fun comic to read and I like it a lot. In fact I myself hope the show goes down the line of the comic by adapting the games story while at the same time creating interesting characters/characterizations that make things more interesting.
And besides the other reason I say Man of Action can be able to do a good Mega Man show is due to their involvement with Generator Rex (which I always saw as Mega Man in a Darker and Edgier universe).
Anyway, back on topic like you I do hope it doesn't get ruined. It would be fun to see more video game based cartoons on tv.
Agree. The comics are pretty cool.
Yes, comics were great and died too soon, and that's why I'm really worried that Man Of Action will mess it up. Their work on Marvel cartoons haven't exactly been encouraging.
The only time I feel Man Of Action did something legit good was Generator Rex (and that show was flawed as hell, too.).
Seeing the negative reception of their Marvel output (despite some of their stuff getting better over time), I'm not confident they can pull this off without pissing people off, sadly.
You don't want to ever fuck with Mega Man. Ever. Trust me.
New Web Browser, same old Shokew.Even though I like many of their stuff, some Man of Action shows tends to talks down to their audience.
As much as I like the games, is there a point to making a Megaman series when Capcom has admitted to pretty much mothballing the series with Infanue (sp?) gone? Is this specifically to head off that Mighty No 9 proposal at the pass?
Maybe they're hoping the series will spark interest in more games.
Yes, because we all know how well tie-in games for video game-inspired TV shows tend to pan out.

I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics.I think that they meant in general, not for a Recursive Adaptation.

Well, yeah, the success of a Mega Man cartoon could lead to a new game not affiliated with the show, but I think that's a lot less likely than a Recursive Adaptation.
I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics.I feel like that all could've been posted in a manner way more efficient than several Twitter posts, like a single post on Facebook or a blog or something.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. But here's the really important question... will we get memes from the show? I mean, that's what the Internet really cares about. Isn't that right, Gutsman's ass? (DUN DUN!)
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.(3)
"I can't tell you anything pertaining to the show's plot or setting that would give you any incentive or security, or prove that we actually adore the games and want to make a show that has Original Flavor, but I'm assuring you, we played the games, we respect the source material, and just like the people behind Sonic X and every other video game adaptation ever produced, I'm asking you to put blind faith in this show until it premieres (or until the inevitable Youtube trailer comes out, in which case, judge away!)"
I would be considerably less cynical if they gave us something, or waited until there was actual footage to show. Game adaptations that don't mutilate the material are kind of rare. And we haven't had an actual Megaman cartoon since NT Warrior - which might not have been bad, but I loathed that series. You would have to do something really off-the-wall to make me not pay attention to this pitch.
Pretty sure this won't be part of the X continuity. The logo probably means its the Classic era Megaman. See, that sounds awesome. How ya going to go about it? Ah, 2-3 months before you can say anything? Well, sh't.
I mean, worst that can happen is you tell me its an adaption of Star Force, or that its done in the Powered Up! art style and it's actually a slice of life comedy. And then the worst I can do is go on twitter, complain, and vehemently refuse to watch the show.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Some mutilation has to be expected from the show by virtue of the fact that it isn't a video game. While the possibility exists that every episode will feature Rock running around side-scrolling levels and silently shooting dudes until he faces off with a boss at the end, it's not likely.
Rock will probably have a voice. The Robot Masters will probably have personalities. They might not die immediately after being introduced in order to avoid wiping out the entire franchise's worth of Robot Masters before the third season is over. There might be some Arc Welding.
Some changes are guaranteed by sheer virtue of the fact that it's an adaptation, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. All he's asking is that people approach the project with an open mind rather than crying Ruined Forever at the mere mention that it exists, and that's precisely what I intend to do. I see no value in being cynical about it, because if it does turn out to not be very good, then whatever. I don't have to watch it.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.He's right that you can't condemn it before you actually see footage. Also, despite my admittedly cynical view of why this exists (Capcom saw the proposal for a Mighty No 9 cartoon and made this to kill it dead, the logic being why pickup a cartoon with a Megaman knockoff when you can air the original Blue Bomber) the fact that Capcom is actually doing something with the property bedsides re-releasing old NES titles is a good thing.

Hey, can't be worse the Ruby-spears series.
It's not that I'm expecting, or at least wasn't expecting it to be awful.
But the creator coming out and asking me to "keep an open mind" makes me paranoid. We've heard this line before when things get adapted, "we respect the source material" it's practically a death flag.
The only sensible reason I can imagine for this precaution, is the Hate Dom that spawned from New Powerpuff Girls and Teen Titans Go. Which isn't to say it's going to be exactly like that, but if you "respect the source" then I imagine this show won't be so off the rails that Megaman is now a blond surfer kid, with a transforming robot dog best friend, who goes to the beach with his friends and fights bad guys as a super...
...
...I'ma, I'ma stop now.
Show, Don't Tell is what I'm after. I'd feel better if they had a clip or a storyboard or some proof of concept. A writer/producer coming to say "this exists, we have this character, we have this logo" isn't useful.
I'll keep an open mind about it, I liked most of Ben 10. Maybe it's just an overreaction. I'm eager to see where this goes. Video game cartoons haven't been a thing since the 90's.
Hey.
...I liked the Megaman X episode.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!It probably won't be worse then the Ruby-Spears series, at least on a technical level, but it's certainly got the potential to be more hated then the Ruby-Spears series.
I'm pretty curious about how this turns out, but I'm not expecting too much since I've found Mo A's output to be largely mediocre. And frankly these kind of preemptive statements are kind of eyebrow raising.

mega man zero is the darkest mega man subseries not just because of the concept, but because of its art direction and music, which are arguably more important in determining the overall feel of a work as opposed to just concepts.
