I think the closest we got to that was " What If... J. Jonah Jameson Adopted Spider-Man?"

The Protomen enhanced my life.

[up] I think there was also a What If where Jonah's canonical and biological son, John Jameson, became Spider-Man instead of Peter Parker, but I'm not too sure about that.

[up]It's the aftermath of Spider-Man No More. Some guy found Spidey's costume in the trash and brought it to Jameson for a reward; the latter had it framed and hung on his wall as a trophy to his triumph over the webbed menace. They cut this particular part from the movie.

I FINALLY GOT TO WATCH MOVIE and thought it was great! Here's some of the things I liked about it, but just as a warning, I originally wrote th for my Tumblr blog so I was instinctively freer with the all-caps than I would have been here ...

-The soundtrack is always moment-appropriate in every way and I loved the drums and horns that increased along with the tension during the fight at Aunt May’s house.

-As with all movies, the dialogue was unclear to me sometimes so I watched with subtitles, and the first few times a comic-style thought-bubble appeared on screen I was like, “Wait, there’s already subtitles?”

-This was actually the first movie I’ve seen where I felt like subtitles were a distraction. The visual style took a little getting used to at first, but it’s excellent! The way it gets more comic-booky or realistic depending on the mood, the way they combined characters from completely visually-different universes, the way so much is happening in such an elegant way. I need to get some dialogue memorized so I can watch the movie again without subtitles and really take in the visual stuff.

-I love that the Kingpin’s head and collar look like they’re floating in a black void.

-The Prowler’s design is beautiful too. That big eerie note of music starts repeating and you see Silhouette Man (okay, he’s purple, but he’s always almost in silhouette even when nothing else is) jumping and running elegantly at you! The other scary thing is that he doesn’t care about being seen or making collateral damage - you hide behind a car and he just smashes that car and the bystanders inside it. It’s like now that Peter Parker’s gone he doesn’t care who sees him - entire police force? doesn’t matter - because no one can stop him.

-And then we see him more and it’s emotional pain time! :D

-I was so taken aback by the way that one death happened because it was done by completely realistic means - abrupt and bodily and unmagical in the midst of all this science-fantasy. Like, there will be kid viewers who actually lost people they loved in that exact way. But they obviously did NOT write it this way out of insensitivity. They’re doing it to tell you that You Aren’t the Only One.

-When Jefferson said, “I love you, but you don’t have to say it back” and he thought Miles was silent cause he was angry at him, but you know Miles WANTED to say it back SO BADLY but he COULDN’T agh it hurt so much.

-I’m never gonna forget how the movie kind of encouraged us to make fun of Peter B. Parker moping ass-up on his bed, but also let us see him making this intensely sad face - not a silly exaggerated sad face, but the kind of tired sad face that only gets animated in serious scenes. So every audience member gets to choose for themselves whether to sympathize, make fun, or (the Tumblr reaction) both. Audience freedom is the essence of a family movie so I’m glad they did that.

-I definitely, definitely get now why everyone worships the “What’s up danger?” scene.

-AND THEN THE ENDING WHICH INCLUDES THINGS SUCH AS:

-Miles convincing Peter B to put off the low-key suicide talk he was making throughout the film and try again in his own universe,

-Miles starting up the Spider-quips immediately once all his counterparts have left him (a way to deal with being emotionally ripped up, AND to show he’s ready to do this stuff himself now),

-THE HUG and Miles's dad is so confused,

-The little detail that they commemorate Uncle Aaron with the phrase “Rest in Power”,

-the IMPLICATION THAT THE SPIDER-PEOPLE FOUND A WAY TO TALK THROUGH UNIVERSES WITHOUT DESTROYING EVERYTHING,

-THE HAPPINESS. Like yes I know this is a superhero cartoon, but I got so invested and so ripped up at the painful scenes, and the ending was so genuinely hard-earned, that it still felt like an unexpected grace from God.

Yay, more people onboard the Spider-Verse love train! :D

There is just genuinely so much love and magic poured into basically every moment and aspect of this movie, it's unbelievable. Certainly better than these bloody Disney live-action remakes (though to Disney's credit Mulan seems at least ok, it's like at least that one's trying a bit harder than the rest). If this were to just up and won Best Picture this year then I'd be perfectly happy with that. At least it won for Best Animated Feature.

I found this fan short on Newgrounds showing what would happen if Venom teamed up with with the rest of the Spider-Verse crew. I thought it was pretty amusing, especially once they meet the main villain.

They actually gave an in-universe explanation for why the animation's not as good as the movie, and Venom saves the day because his film made more money then everyone else.

Yeah even if it has a heavy stylized design sense and animation without any motion blur which is usually disorienting, the movie has a ton of serious and dramatic moments and pulls them all off well!

[up] Speaking of the unusual frame rate, the one scene that's always felt off to me, is when Miles and his family are running around his apartment, getting ready for the day.

The first part where he's singing in his room is fantastic, but when he walks out into the rest of his apartment, the action feels too fast to be animated on twos, and just looks jittery.

The one thing I really want in the Spider-Verse sequel is for them to pay off the arc they set up for Peter B, and give us the Amazing Spider-Dad.

And then they'll ruin it by giving us Reign instead.

[up]x2 Kid’s movie is a bit of a flimsy excuse when there is a lot of content in the movie that isn’t really family friendly. I mean the first act of the movie end with Spider-Man being killed off for real. That’s Transformers The Movie level of grimdark right there.

Though however, Radioactive Spider Jizz is Traumaville Level of Mature (specifically Class of Nuke Em High); so yeah that shit is best left out.

[up] hilariously, this is also the movie that introduces Spider-Ham to a wide audience.

Still, there’s a difference between realistic depictions of death (which has been done several times in kids movies), and Spider-Man’s radioactive Sperm.

Spider-Noir's backstory and home universe is very fucked up if you read the comics.

But yeah, I do agree that Radioactive Jizz is too far.

[up]. Even Noir is a fair bit lighter and softer than his comic counterpart though. He’s played as more the The Comically Serious who’s fascinated by a Rubix Cube, rather than the early Batman like avenger he is in his books.

Feels natural. The kid wont be too old, though, unless we do a Time Skip and let Miles age.

Ironic, really. Miles, Peter and Gwen were heroes in their own worlds. Later, Miles moved to main continuity but at least he filled out young Spider-Man niche, while Peter is allowed to be grown-up Spider-Man.

But Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, Marvel Spider-Man cartoon and new Marvel Action comic book instead have to deal with writing numerous teenage Spider-People and not make them redundant.

There's exactly one thing in Reign that needs to be adapted into everything everywhere and that's Sandman's daughter. Everything else, I say leave behind.

That said, the last couple attempt to adapt that character haven't been great, so maybe not.

Seriously, though, I'm down with anything they do in Spider-Verse 2 as long as it's not Morlun. I hate that character.

If they do have a subplot where Peter B. becomes a dad, they have to include Mayday among the group. It'd be interesting for to see how he'd react to a reality where his child has taken up superheroics, and whether he's prepared to accept that possibility. How'd he feel knowing his own child will risk her life on a regular basis?

I've also felt that having an evil Spider-Man be the villain in the sequel would be the most interesting angle to explore. Someone who's a twisted mirror of what Spider-Man stands for, and uses their powers in a very irresponsible way.
