Muay Vacu

A martial art from Vacuo, this form uses the elbows and knees, along with the fists and feet for a versatile combination of attack and defense. Among its greatest advantages is its versatility. Meaning that given enough time, anyone facing two different practitioners would be in for a surprise when they find themselves to be facing what looks to be two different fighting styles.

Leviathan

The ancient word for sea monster is one many have been reluctant to "reward" any oceanic Grimm, for surely the abyssal depths will spit out a creature far more worthy of the title in time.

Rather, the title is used to refer to seemingly unique and behemoth monsters that arise from the ocean floor as a sort of generic catch-all term. Of course, when something actually pops up that earns the title, it's at least a foot note in history, earning the full title of, "The Leviathan Of [Place]".

Due to the vast nature of the oceanic depths, this is far more common to the sea than the land. However, on occasion that such a mysterious beasty briefly lives upon the land, unique and destructive enough to warrant great notice but not long enough to get its own name, it is called a Behemoth.

Even more rarely, and obscure, when something of the sky descends from nowhere, it is a Ziz.

The Second Leviathan Of Port Jonah
The Behemoth Of Fort David
The Behemoth Of Mount George

Grimm - Las Plagas

An insect-type Grimm endemic to parts of Vacuo and Menagerie, though known for massive migrations to the reaches of the other Kingdoms. They mostly resemble a monstrous bi-pedal locust, with the head covered by the typical bone mask.

Typically, a single Plaga is classed as Epsilon-level, but go higher in threat levels, depending their numbers.

It is these the youth of Vacuo often find themselves facing on their first deployments. History refers to Las Plagas as "The Harbingers of Spite", as they would target crops and caravans of settlers. The largest recorded swarm of this was referred to as "The Endless Night".

People - Stephanie Meer

Remnant's third greatest fashion designer. Developer of the Actiomeer Clothing line. A noted philanthropist and inventor, she has also developed the current line of Vale Public School uniforms.

Mrs. Meer lives in a ranch in Vale's heartland with her spouse.

Posting these guys here due to the relevance of aquatic grim right now, but I will probably be using them more in Rising due to playing a pirate from Vocau there.

Grim: Ikuchi

Ikuchi aproach the target as a thick black cloud in the water, one which can not be touched, and to which no attempts to catch have ever succeded, during this phase they will aproach any ship that sails near them. If they get close enough they change, sticking to the outside of the ships hull and becoming imobile this does not however make them harmless, because at this stage they become thick black coating that begins to eat away at the hull underneath. This alone makes them dangerous, but even worse is attempting to remove them, not only are they incredibly durable due to there armour not needing to move, but they possess the ability to project toxic spines from there body, on an infested ship this can end up resulting in a hail of needles.

Gonna need a GM ruling for this one; are Scrolls waterproof?

I'm not sure if they are, and given they're the equivalent of smartphones I'm assuming they aren't.

Honestly, I'd assume that'd depend on the individual Scroll. Waterproof cases for them are a thing though.

Dia's parents could afford her a waterproof one. Even if it isn't, Dia herself can make it waterproof although temporarily unusable.

>The Crown Driver and Scroll are at the edge of a shooting range

"All I'm sayin' is, those things look like mighty big targets. Hell, any one mook can put two-and-two together and it's goodbye Gage!"

>Someone whips out a submachine gun and unloads on the trinkets, making Gage duck for cover.

>The only one to duck for cover.

>Both Scroll and Driver are brought to the assembly.

>Neither thing looks like it took a dent, apart from some scorch marks.

Just remember, waterproof does not mean it will work underwater.

Maximum range for radio-transmission under water is 2-3 meters....

Its why the little robot submarines use an umbilical, the scroll may not be destroyed but it is going to have a grand total of zero reception.

[up] Well, I actually did google up how well laser/plasma weapons would work underwater. I figure laser weapons would be slightly less powerful, but get more spread because of scattering.

Not sure how plasma weapons would work, but given plasma is superheated, electrically charged air... I'm not too sure it and water would mix all that well. Unless there's, like, a superheated water sword or something.

Applying science to RWBY: it's a fool's errand but damn if I won't do it anyhow!

Either way, if nothing else my Scroll's job has been done. The pew-pew blasters will work underwater now. And maybe burn themselves out slightly.

No scrolls were used underwater yet though not as far as I can tell.

[up] Yeah, but I'm operating on the assumption that scrolls are just like real-world smartphones. They aren't water-resistant, but you can probably get a hardened case that is.

Hell, if Scrolls are widespread amongst Hunters I wouldn't be surprised if they offered a militarized Scroll.

And agian, waterpoof does not mean it works underwater, only water wont destroy it.

No electronics exist that allow for wireless communication more then 2-3 meters underwater, because it is just not physically possible.

Its why the robot submarines are tethered, and the maned ones use a Hydrophone if they absolutely positively need to communicate.

[up] Which is a relevant fact for later on, yes, but doesn't change the fact that "I've already done what I needed to do with my Scroll, so unless I somehow need to make an underwater collect call, it shouldn't worry me too much".

Everyone should NOT attack the Fathom for now. I need everyone to get into the research room in order for things to advance. There will be plenty of fighting later, trust me.
