Tropers - The first of many exciting updates to TV Tropes is upon us! In this update, we focused primarily on making the header and side navigation bars consistent throughout the site. We also reworked a ton of the backend code to allow for easier and more rapid development as we move forward.
Some of you may love the new design, others may hate it. Either way, we would love to hear from you below. We are listening, I promise.
If you have a bug to report, please use the designated thread on the Tech Wishlist and Bug Report to let us know about it.
Now get back to Troping!

It was like the new design for a few minutes for me, and then returned to the old one suddenly.
I can report that the same is true for me.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. What? Just? Happened?
Likewise. And the new design was being very slow. It may have some bugs that need to be worked out.
"Never let anyone tell you that something is impossible." - Monty Oum, 1981-2015That happened for me as well.
UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOIHold that thought - something in the code broke. We are working on it now.
Everything seemed to break while the new design was here on the main site. Hm. Seems like there were some issues that needed ironing out. EDIT:

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Oh. I thought that the new programming became sentient and started screwing with us.
Yeah, I was logged out and couldn't log in the whole time.
About the design... very much inferior to the classic look. It looked like a generic wikia page. If we want to be recognizable we shouldn't blend in with the crowd.
There were no text colors for a moment, which would be highly problematic on the Roleplay boards
I saw it for a few minutes before the whole thing crashed, and was very relieved when it reverted back to the old one because the design is absolutely AWFUL.
Rule 1 when updating your website's layout: DON'T CHANGE THE FREAKING COLOR SCHEME.
Just because there is subtle blue highlights on the buttons of the current version of TV tropes doesn't mean we want to be OVERWHELMED with huge ugly heavy blue banners on the top and bottom of the screen.
TV tropes has always been a pure black and white website with light blue buttons and it should STAY THAT WAY.
For those who didn't see it: You see that kickstarter button/notice at the top? Imagine that color all over the top and bottom of the page. Yeah, blech.

I would also like to confirm that the new design logged me out, and was incredibly sluggish at opening anything. It was so slow my login timed for chrissake And yeah, it changed back to the old design for me too.
The new design was very.... bright?
I won't say it was THAT bad (and that bits of what you said were a bit r00d), but yeah, 2muchbloo.
I'm no website designer, but I think keeping it to a simple color scheme is best.
The classic minimalistic design is very much a virtue of the site, not a flaw. I really see no reason for such a drastic change.
It looked weird being all blue, but eh. I had a bit of issue logging back in due to it taking a very long time.
No other issues on my end. Good luck getting it set back up.
Also, FIRST!!!
But seriously, I didn't like it. It was too blue and slow, but I think we will all eventually get used to it and like once all the bugs are ironed out.
I clicked on the site and it the new design's forum page, but I was logged out. When I hit login it automatically logged me back in but kicked me back to the old design. Odd.
As for the revamp, eh, I prefer the classic but I can see myself getting used to the redesign. From what little I saw however my favorite was the "Tropers logged in" count. It was 0 but it was there and was cool.

#IceBearForPresidentI had the same issue with logging in as well, and everything was sluggish.
I didn't mind the blue color, but then again, that kind of blue just happens to be my favorite. Maybe add a setting to where people can change the color to what they want? Or have a setting to have a oldschool-style layout?
...Oh, and my favorite part of this experience is when I logged in to find that the Main Page was missing, and replaced by a :

If anyone's complaining about the design, then let me tell you something: We've been talking about this for over a month, and you had a thread and plenty of time to express complaints. You all knew this was coming.

Yeah, for a few minutes, it was laggy as fuck. I don't think any of our suggestions on the design page in the beta site were taken into consideration for the design layout. No ironing out the design for the layout was done and I don't know why that layout was implemented on this site so quickly. Plus, it came without warning to the rest of us.
I believe we did have some complaints. I don't think the design ones were addressed and there still were a lot of flaws on that site.

We never got to see what design they were going for, is the thing.
I had to log in to the website. The Account log in system struggled to recognise me. Just in case of typos, I was careful to double-check my username, password and the catchpa, and I was typing things in correctly. It worked on the third attempt (this was three attempts of typing things in correctly, no mistakes).
I logged back out then back in to make absolutely sure I wasn't making any errors I hadn't spotted, it took several attempts (to clarify, I had catchpa issues that I don't believe were related to this site). Once I logged in the second time, I was back to the old website design and layout.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.I see a lot of people contributing to the beta who say otherwise.
