Classic Yu-Gi-Oh! Sequel Movie

That's true XD Neither did Mokuba and Salomon Muto. If the cards had actually been played, would anything happen? Stuff like that is fun to think about.

That link you posted last page says that the plot is that Atem and Kaiba have a duel against each other so at least we know something about it beyond which characters are showing up.

I would think it would be Yugi and not Atem unless the movie isn't a sequel after all.

I'd say nothing would happen since the card wouldn't be programmed into the Kaiba Corp database, except this is Yugioh where protagonists gain new magical cards out of nowhere every other duel and they always work fine on the duel disks...

Well the link says it's Yami Yugi which from my understanding is Atem so...

Man, I was getting my hopes up this would take place after the finale... What's the point of having Yami duel Kaiba for the billionth time?

I thought it was normal Yugi, just years later. o.o His hairstyle fits both Yugis. Maybe they merged somehow?

Looks like Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes are getting redesigned. The biggest change here is that Dark Magician is now bluish-black and silver, like his 10th anniversary alternate art◊.

I don't really see the point of redesigning the iconic monsters for a short OVA movie, but whatever.

Actually, the monsters are closer to their original manga incarnations.

SO its justa duel between Atem and Kaiba....ok.

Which will be interrupted by a man from Ancient Egypt who will only show up towards the end.

Seriously, how often have we seen a duel between these two? Three times (in both manga and anime)! And yet, Atem's duel with Jonouchi has never been shown.

Little interest I had has dissipated.

I at least hope there's some decent support for those two monsters introduced here, though Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician are very well-supported already.

it's cool that they're using the anniversary redesigns but this movie as it stands is pretty pointless UNLESS there's some trick like Kaiba managing to finally beat Yugi or something, which would make this cool but I doubt that'll happen.

I'm really hoping the duel will be regular, non-Yami Yugi vs. Kaiba. Technically, all of Yugi's victories over Kaiba thus far have been thanks to Atem.

If Atem is present, it will be Atem vs. Kaiba. There's just no getting around it. Yugi didn't really grow into his own until the very end of the series, so it would only make any sense if Atem wasn't even present anymore.

Looks like it'll be a full-length movie, and there's no sign of Atem so far. I'm pretty sure it's going to be Yugi dueling Kaiba on his own for once. Note that Yugi doesn't have his Millennium Puzzle.

Also, while this picture is incredibly blurry, you can clearly see Yugi doesn't have the yellow spikes in his hair that Yami Yugi does, and there doesn't seem to be a Millenium Puzzle around his neck. At this point, the evidence overwhelmingly suggests that it will be an older Yugi dueling Kaiba sometime after the original series ended. It's a sequel movie. A sequel.

And frankly, this sounds about a zillion times better than "Atem duels Kaiba again. Hurray." I mean, strictly speaking, Yugi himself never actually dueled Kaiba. I'm guessing the plot will involve Kaiba pointing out that Atem fought all his battles for him and then challenging Yugi to defend his title as King of Games, and then Yugi will win and prove he's grown as a person and doesn't need to rely on Atem anymore and yadda yadda yadda.

Speaking of this movie, I just realized that Yugi will probably use all the new Black Luster cards. So that's why all that support appeared now. But what will Kaiba use? All the latest Blue-Eyes support involves Synchro summoning, so I imagine that means more is coming in a future set that we don't know about.

Being Seto freakin' Kaiba, I don't think it's a stretch to say he's rich enough to get Synchros years before they're released to the general public.

Honestly, I think it would be weird to see him break out Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon as much as it would be weird for Yugi to pull out Ebon Illusion Magician or Magi Magi Magician Gal. Money be damned, I don't think it would make sense, setting-wise, to allow Synchros and Xyz to show up.

Besides, Blue-Eyes really needs the help anyway. Red-Eyes completely outclasses it at the moment.

These new rules are confusing.

I'm also wondering what Kaiba will bring that isn't Synchro or XYZ related to the movie. There's enough time to make new support before the film comes out.

That said, I admit it would be rather hilarious for Yugi to fall for the effect of Maiden with Eyes of Blue (since nobody reads card effects in the anime). Maybe it could appear without acting as a tuner.

They're the simplest things ever, as long as you approach it with an open mindset.

Actually, Yugi's already seen Synchro monsters in Bonds Beyond Time, so if Kaiba busted out Azure-Eyes, Yugi would be all, "Oh, are those things finally being made?"

What'll really be confusing is if the first player doesn't draw on their Draw Phase at the first turn of the duel. In-universe, that rule didn't apply until Arc-V, but out-of-universe, the writers might not want to promote out-of-date rules.

I've been playing Yugioh for years and it took me forever to figure out how Pendulum Monsters work. I like them, but they're really unintuitive. It's the part about them going to the Extra Deck instead of the graveyard that makes it super confusing. Like, you can't send a Pendulum Monster from the field to the graveyard for things like Wonder Wand because they have to go to the Extra Deck... Ugh, I'm getting confused just thinking about it.
