I will say all these quirks do make for some cool choreography.

Why the focus on the face? Her entire body exploded just as much.

In my case, I'm cracking some Black Comedy on the fact that "losing face" is a term for loss of dignity, and is generally a bigger deal in Japan then the western world, if I am not mistaken (I remember a whole Bewitched episode on the subject and everything)

Also, Illegals/Vigilantes really showed that Nagant had a point, trusting vigilantes over killing them would ultimately help them out in the long run.

That wasn't her point though? And even in vigilantes (which isn't even set that long before the main story) killing vigilantes isn't the standard so, yeah.

Anyway, did I miss something? What about this information makes Fa Jin seem weak? Not that I thought it was "OP" (I hate that term) to begin with, but if you had that impression I'm not sure what's supposed to make it seem different now.

The speed scans implied that Fa Jin worked far more efficiently than it does, so now everyone who was complaining it was over powered now think it's lame. Standard internet reaction.

Wait, Rebel, how can Chisaki heal her without his hands?
We've already seen that Quirks have the capacity to evolve to some degree via Toga and Geten, it wouldn't be surprising if Chisaki could use Overhaul by using his feet instead. Hell, if he's desperate enough to see the boss, he may just force an Awakening to occur.

[up]I'm more just irritated that, once again, Deku is able to use it with little to no problems despite the 3rd saying it was too dangerous. And that it's basically a cheat code to let him do 100 percent attacks without actually going to 100 percent.
Side note, but did anyone else think Lady Nagant's enhanced sniper mode looked kind of gross? It was all fleshy and bulbous, looked kind of like Body Horror.

That reunion between Overhaul and the Boss is going to be something else.

Anyway, I'm fairly sure that's some of her hair that been blackened, not her face. Just look at the angle; Horikoshi drew it very strange if that's supposed to be her face.

I really dig the few dialogue Chisaki gets in that chapter. Hoping we get some more.

I thought AFO would have some semblance of decency at least by how he treated Shigaraki. Then the War happened and I realized that psychopath cares about no one but himself. Tomura was nothing more than a tool he supposedly cares about but is nothing more than a puppet at the end of the day for him.

I wonder if All for One is going to be offed at the end of the series by way of being completely surrounded by people who want to make him pay for what he’s done. Many deciding that while Shigaraki and the other villains could be helped, All for One doesn’t deserve the help.

Bonus points if he lost all his quirks somehow

Thing is, AFO seems to be pretty firmly in control of the situation for someone who's on the run and licking their wounds. If the heroes destroy his original body, he can bodyjack Tomura (though I expect that to fail when it matters and kill him for good that way) and carry on with utter glee.

Anyway, Hawks's appearance suggests Nagant is not down for the count yet, though her turn is all but guaranteed now (assuming she's in fighting condition later). Current gripe: still Fa Jin:

  • The hero has to carefully learn and combine his powers? Not Fa Jin, you can just use it right away, no strings attached (oh yeah, sure, some "parallel processing" gets messed up, but that won't matter - see below).
  • The hero is still only halfway through mastering the power output of OFA? Nope, Fa Jin just lets him magically jump to "not really but really 100% OFA" with little to no consequences. The implication is, of course, that he'll be able to do, like, Squillion Percent OFA once he masters it.
  • Surely such a power comes with drawbacks like Danger Sense or is not intuitive at first like Blackwhip? Nah, man, just do some situps and you're golden. And you can do situps basically whenever which will let you store Fa Jin Juice - so you can throw out 100% OFA punches like it's Prime All Might time.

There is no real Doylist explanation for why this Quirk exists other than to artificially bring Deku up to the heavyweight division. This bigger number boost just doesn't gel with earlier themes of teamwork and co-operation, it doesn't gel with the fact that a single mighty Symbol of Peace is a terrible idea because when it topples, everyone can hear it and no one can possibly keep up to fill in the blanks before shit goes to pot. You know, like what happened.

I mean, if story is going for the idea that having just one symbol of peace is bad, then Deku should be as powerful as All Might or more. Otherwise the only thing that would prove is that he wasn't strong enough and that's why he needed help.

If the idea is to paint cooperation and teamwork as the better option, then nothing is gonna make that clearer than having all the power in the world and still come short anyways.

I understand having gripes with how easy Deku just basically masters Fa Jin, but I don't really think that has anything to do with this.

Yeah, I think it's pretty normal for Deku to get to All might's level, even if it should not be the end goal. I don't think the story has ever advocated for the notion Deku shouldn't get to that level one day, and I agree that having Deku reach that level or even beyond, only for it to simply not be enough and teamwork being what makes the difference would be the logical thing to do.

It still feels kind of cheap for Fa Jin to just completely negate one of Deku's limitations. Before this, Deku could only ever reach 100 percent in two ways, by breaking his limbs, or using Eri. The latter though was dangerous due to Eri's quirk being unstable, and the former was doing massive damage to his muscles and bones. Yet by using Fa Jin, a Quirk he had never used prior and was told by it's own owner he can't use safely, he's able to replicate 100 percent OFA without damaging himself.

Yeah, Deku should be getting stronger, but not through something like this. Instead of working to overcome his limits and getting stronger naturally, Fa Jin is basically a "get out of injury free" card.

I said it before, but with Blackwhip and Float he had to work to properly use them, he had to learn how to control them, and it took time. With Danger Sense, there isn't much to learn, and with Smokescreen it's explicitly shown he has a limit still. Yet so far that isn't the case with Fa Jin, despite 3rd describing it as too dangerous for Deku to use it.

If the series took the time to develop and have Deku learn each and every individual quirk he has, the story would barely progress.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.

He didn't really say the quirk was dangerous, he said using it without testing it first would be a bad idea and last chapter we got clarification that he was talking about the parallel processing being thrown off, which did happen and was the reason he lost the advantage he had.

Regardless, I'm not gonna argue with the whole thing being cheap, because it kind of is, but it has nothing to do with the thematic relevance of teamwork and cooperation.

Still think AFO is going to get the Snoke treatment from Shiggy. AFO is the previous generation's archvillain; Shiggy is the foe of Deku's.
