See, someone with unorthodox powers can be interesting.

Not every fight needs to be a straight up slug fest.

That being said, all of Araki's fights are puzzle bosses, when the occasional straight up slug fest would good as well.

It's about variety.

Gentle's fight feels like a great puzzle boss vs physical boss middle ground.

It's a good thing I don't care about your opinion about Jojo.

But yea, Hori could use some more creative powers for his characters. Strength enhancement is a bit too common

In fairness to Overhaul, his power was a lot more complicated than just strength enhancement

He used it to become a big punchy monster but it was a lot more complicated than that.

I think a white collar middle aged man using pent-up stress as a power is quite interesting, actually.

Also last arc we got 20 characters with some of the wackiest powers.

Yeah, I can't imagine what would happen if a low-grade salaryman ended up with the Stress Quirk… or, you know, a weekly mangaka.

I remember a Jojo entry somewhere used to have a comment that getting close enough to slugfest it out was the reward, not the objective.

Well in Jojo's case, the gimmick Stands tend to be weaker than the standard speed and power ones the protagonists use.

It's just you have to figure out the gimmick. Once that's over, the punching begins.

That is, unless you're one of those stands that are just good at everything like ZA WARUDO!!! Star Platinum ( after it gains the same time freezing powers as ZA WARUDO!!!) and a few others.

King Crimson is not one of those stands (shit defence) but more than makes up for it with its it just works power.

That being said, my point is sometimes just punching is good, sometimes trick vs trick is interesting, and sometimes trick vs punching is great for seeing one side forced out of their comfort zone.

It's about variety.

That’s just another Stand with maxed out physical parameters & a broken-ass ability.

There’s also Crazy Diamond where despite being a healing based Stand, it also moves & punches faster than a bullet for some reason.

I think the lack of it is because it's made obvious very early on that Ochaco is the love interest. Plus, her and Deku's interactions are wholesome and beneficial for both of them, so there's no real reason to be against it. Other than "it's boring".

So that leaves the gay shippers, and most readers are wise enough to know gay pairings are unlikely in a shonen manga.

But... that's usual a completely valid reason for them.

....and that usually doesn't stop them.
