Oh man, I had no idea Tide Goes Out was so... smooth.
It's been fun.Stuff like this is why I need to listen to the soundtrack more closely.
Reaction Image RepositorySo what's the skinny on the Splatfest? I'm pretty sure Family will get the popular vote, but will it be an example of Money vs Love?
irrelevant to your question, but after a few dozen games im fairly certain i can say people just straight up quit when they see their team doesnt have any multipliers on it >_>

"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaI've had one mirror match for Team Family so far, but on its own that doesn't mean much.
Also, wasn't expecting Grillers to show up on Shifty Station.
Reaction Image RepositorySplatfest is today?
It's been going since yesterday, actually. And I think it lasts until tomorrow. It's a 2-day holiday event.
Reaction Image RepositoryYep. It started at 5 PM Eastern yesterday, and will last until 5 PM tomorrow.
I hadn't leveled up my Splatfest Tee before it started, and also haven't leveled up the bonus hats. So I only played 7 matches in Pro Mode to get a starting Friend Power, then switched to Normal Mode to finish leveling up the Tee and Hats.
My starting power is 2071.9, with a 5-2 record in Pro Mode. So far I'm 4-3 in Normal Mode.
The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever.Got to Fam Champion before I called it quits. Smash has been distracting me too much and my Splatoon skills are atrophying.
I used the Sloshing Machine and got ten kills the first time I used it which was pretty cool, but every match afterwards was a disaster. I couldn't even fall back on my Custom Splattershot Jr for easy wins.
Last I checked we're fighting for nobility, and that's passed down between family, not friends. The choice is obvious.
Lots of Christmas newcomers, so it felt easier than normal. But I did manage the feat of getting to 998p on Champion. Can't even feel frustrated at that.
Lol, just battled against a group on Team Friends consisting of Chandler, Monica, Ross, and Rachel.
From my experience, Family will probably win the popular vote, but Friends will probably take home at least regular victories. It'll be a coin toss as to who wins Pro battles, but my vote's on Friends.
Hit royalty
It was a weirdly rocky go. Things started off smoothly and then there was this patch where I just couldn’t get a win and then a short patch of smooth sailing after several minutes where I couldn’t get into a match at all because of time outs and communication errors
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHit royalty with a power of 2195.4, capping out at 2244.1. Honestly didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would.

I was hoping to level up all four of the Holiday Headgear, but I only managed to fully level 3 of them.
The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever.Wow that one was miserable. My final record was 18 wins out of 42 matches — some of which were serious heartbreakers, like the match where my team lost by 0.2% and it was very obviously the literal first time one of my teammates was playing (they were level 1, using the regular splattershot, got no kills, used no specials, and only inked 200 points worth of turf).
That said, I managed to hit royalty at the last possible second — three of my 18 wins were the last three matches I played, and the last match I played was the last one before the splatfest ended. Even more ridiculous was the fact that I hit the 999 points I needed for royalty rank exactly. I had 927 points and my last match gave me 72 points (20 for the match and 40 for the win, with a 1.2x bonus applied for my team setup).
Maybe I should go back to playing pro matches instead of normal. Before they switched up the splatfest mechanics I seemed to do better. Or maybe I'm just having a streak of bad luck, who knows?
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Team Friends takes it, 2-1. Family won popularity; Friends won everything else.
I FIGHT FOR MY FRIENDS

So, the Octo Expansion artbook came out a bit ago, and a couple of people have been translating/scanning bits and pieces from them. Here's the links (reddit's frozenpandaman, tumblr's clannfearrunt).
Things of note: Tartar itself was going to be a boss fight (including a couple versions where it merged with the blender[s]), standard Octarians can apparently grow into Octolings, dedf1sh's real (JP) name is Mizuta Ahato (eastern name order), Salmonids have tribal titles instead of individual names (for example, ω-3's DJ is known as "The Loyal Servant of the True Salmon King Hizunamasu" [hizunamasu being a dish made with salmon head cartilage]), and a certain Squidbeak agent has a side-career as a DJ. Also, 80s squid/cuttlefish idols.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Got the game on sale a few days ago, and liked it as much as the first one, which I kind of regretted drifting away from.
Overall, the single player mode felt easier than the first game’s (screw the Experimentorium, though), especially thre final boss, but I liked the plot far better.
That said, as heartfelt as Callie and Marie’s plot was in this one I think I like Pearl and Marina better as the game’s hosts (fite me), particularly the amusing way Marina is clearly an Octoling and constantly on edge that someone will finally grow a brain and notice. I already know about the Octo Expansion plot and twists (I plan to get it soon), and I’m looking forward to it.
Otherwise, the multiplayer gameplay is just as engaging as always (plus a horde mode, yay!). Between this, RDR 2 and Overwatch, I’m pretty much good on shooters for a long time.
