That's about what I was thinking. Then again, with MK, you expect no-holds-barred-brutal-as-possible action from fatalities. Plus, stuff like 'TOASTY' is more expected than anything else.
If it's about the Neatherrelm. I bet they'll have Shinnok shown as the Big Bad of the story, and then at the climax, he gets backstabbed and killed off by another character who becomes the final boss. I bet it would be Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, or Undead Liu Kang.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Quan Chi would be more likely. He backstabs everyone.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.I bet it'll actually be Tanya, just to fuck with everybody.
Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.I actually want to see Shinnok done well. Was a crazy push over in MK 4

youtube.com/Fire Trainer 92Shinnok is SUPPOSED to be an incredibly dangerous force. I'd like to see him be given a properly intimidating and powerful role too. A Fallen Elder God seeking vengeance from Hell? That is a story that is begging to be told well.
On Shujinko, I really don't think he was that interesting. He had interesting things happen to him, but the character himself was pretty shallow, just wandering around doing whatever people tell him to do. If I had to pick a favorite Main Protagonist, it would have to be Johnny Cage in a hypothetical future Mortal Kombat where the writers remember that we don't need new heroes, we have perfectly good ones right here the classic Liu Kang. Shujinko felt too much like they were trying to reinvent the wheel, and Taven felt too Sueish.
Killing off Liu Kang was a controversial decision, but trying to replace him with new original characters has proven to be a consistently terrible decision, on account of how much of a fanbase the established characters have. Liu is dead? You need a new hero? Fine! Pick someone. You have plenty of characters to choose from.
It's like Dragon Ball not only killing off Goku, but then replacing him with Bob, a SUDDEN SURPRISE new Saiyan who just arrived on Earth, immediately establishes his superiority to the entire established cast, and goes on to save the world. You can't just throw a new face at us and go, "Meet the new hero, same as the old hero, can kick the ass of all your favorite characters!" and expect it to be taken well.
Ultimately, if they want a new hero, I think Boon's idea of throwing out most of the cast and just having the bare minimum of carryovers is a good one. You can't introduce a new guy to the Mortal Kombat canon in game 6 and just say he's automatically more suited to the protagonist role than everyone in the last five games because he just is. If you want to bring in a brand new protagonist out of nowhere, then avoiding the shackles of continuity and established fanbase is probably the best option. Once New Hero Guy has a chance to establish himself, THEN he can start mingling with the old cast, but doing it right out of the starting gate is just begging for a popularity contest he can't possibly win.
You don't have your new character punch out Wolverine in the first issue of the comic.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.
I agree with the rest of that, but I'm pretty sure punching out Wolverine in the first issue/episode is how most villains get their Establishing Character Moment.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).So are they gonna make another Mortal Kombat soundtrack or what? Nobody knows what the new Wiz song in the MKX trailer is gonna be from, so I'm guessing it might be another MK soundtrack, kinda like the one they did for the last game but not just focused on Dubstep type stuff?
To be honest, all I want if a new MK soundtrack is made is a remix of The Bank theme from MK 3.
And also the rights of Techno Syndrome to be finally bought, seeing as it's still the theme of MK all these years later.

In regards to another "Songs Inspired By The Warriors" soundtrack, get a better rapper. Not dissing Wiz Khalifa, but Tech N9ne would've done a way better job at the dark atmosphere of MK with top-notch lyricism to boot. Of course, this is assuming that this new soundtrack would have a more hip-hop oriented soundtrack (which I personally advise against).
Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.A hip-hop fighting game soundtrack would be cool, but MK isn't the place for it.
I'm going to take a crazy guess and say that MK 10 will include both Mythologies and MK 4 as part of it's story.
Sounds like it's going to be a prequel until it switches to the aftermath of MK 9 halfway through.
Or time travel.
Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.Mythologies came before MK 1 in the timeline, so the only way that would work would be if there are flashbacks or time-travel involved.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. Not really. MK 10 could start before MK 9 and details the events of Mythologies . Then a Time skip happens and the rest of the story takes place after MK 9.

I really want to see Li Mei return. I know she was killed off, but she is one of my favorite characters and I want to see her come back in X.
"Marth likes just the tip, Lucina likes the whole thing."She probably won't. She's tied to the Onaga storyline,so she probably won't reappear until MK XI.

She actually has a chance of showing up if they compress the klassic storylines like they did last time. If they handle it exactly like before, it would go from 4 to Deadly Alliance to Deception.

Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. The thing is when, MK 1-3 were basically three parts of one conflict. 4 represents a different one from that of DA and Deception. Heck given that Both Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung, DA might not even occur.

"Using our highly self-customized version of Unreal 3. 60fps 1080p!"
And a confirmation that Kratos probably won't be back (and that guests in general aren't likely).
Where do you get the impression that guests aren't likely? I'm not saying they are, just that nothing about that tweet implies they're not.
I think I can see where Alucard is coming from. Did the post mean "I don't want to repeat Kratos" or "I don't want to repeat 3rd party characters." I do think he meant Kratos, though. He doesn't mean 3rd parties at all, so it's likely it's just a Kratos thing. Plus he does say not likely, so it's kind of questionable.
But yeah, I don't think it really implies guests aren't possible. Removing one of them does make it possible they wouldn't put them back, not that it's an implication in itself. He was also the first 3rd party character announced in the series. A lot speculated SSB would do a similar thing, removing 3rd parties, but that got proven wrong. Snake may or may not come back(in fact, constantly, the various things Kojima has said neither helps or hurts his chances overall. The best we've seen is that he doesn't think Sakurai was likely to ask him. And considering Kojima was the one who asked Sakurai and not the other way around, I guess it makes sense to think that. Why would Sakurai ask him and not the other way around? However, let's also note that you're not supposed to leak information before the official date that a reveal should happen. If Snake is in, Kojima couldn't say).
Overall, he doesn't sound like he wants Kratos back that much, but doesn't specify about anyone else, so it can be assumed at best he might just want a different list of 3rd party characters(that's the overall implication I get from his message, no repeated 3rd parties).
Apparently Sweet Tooth was considered for Mortal Kombat 9. Maybe they'll use him this time because there hadn't been any Twisted Metal games in a while when Mortal Kombat 9 came out, but since then Twisted Metal 2012 has come out and he was in Playstation All Stars Battle Royale.
Cortex should take a 12-step plan off a 10-step pier
zero: Either it's especially gruesome (and after 9, I'm not sure how much more you could pump into them), or it's a pumped-up version of a classic fatality (probably "Toasty").
