  • Name: Maria Diamond a.k.a The Diamond. Is currently going by Lassia Silvermoon.
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 263 human years
  • Race: Half Dwarf - Half Lunar Elf
  • Appearance: One of these people. She inherited her mother's looks mostly but is still slightly stockier, a bit on the short side and a lighter shade of purple than most Lunar Elves.
  • Personality: While Maria is Elvish in appearance, she has all the traits of a dwarf, being fiercely loyal to anyone who gains her respect, a good negotiator, being highly manipulative (although opting for a straightforward and realistic view of the world/universe) and stubborn, and also has an irresistible urge for riches and all things shiny, using anything within her power to earn more riches and thus carve out a life of luxury for herself even if it means doing unscrupulous things, her greed winning out over honesty, although not loyalty where one has deserved it.
  • Class: Anything involving stealth, be that guerrilla warfare, spying, scouting assassination etc.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Maria's specialization in magic is the art of bending light to her will, which she uses predominantly to create illusions (which she excels at being able to keep illusions up for many hours and even allowing her to keep some form of the illusion alive when she sleeps at teh cost of not being able to form hard light constructs), temporarily blind people, illuminate spaces and heighten her vision, allowing her x-ray vision, thermal vision, generally sharper vision etc.
    • Excels at using a bow and arrows and is also adept with bladed weapons although she has next to no experience with spears, polearms, axes, etc.
    • Has basic hand-to-hand combat that focuses on being quick and effective instead of flashy, although she's not near professional level. Can also lockpick and is a competent actor, favoring the Bavarian Fire Drill.
    • She's rather agile and fast at the cost of being less durable. She has average strength for a human.
  • Possessions and Gear:
    • Her main weapon is a finely-made and high-quality bow, with a quiver enchanted to hold much more arrows than physically possible. The arrows themselves are enchanted to be invisible and are dipped in poison. She currently has 107 arrows, 7 of which are further enchanted to act as a grenade upon impact.
    • Her secondary weapon is a double-bladed sword, one blade dipped in poison and the other relatively normal.
    • She has only one potion, that works as a fast-acting poison that paralyzes it's victims, and is also highly flammable and the other is a healing potion. It is the size of a 750 ml bottle and is currently a quarter full and is the poison used on her weapons.
    • Is the owner of half a dozen shuriken, again dipped in poison.
    • Maria's armor is enchanted to be extremely durable to make up for her less than usual durability, and can also shift into more "casual" clothes, the two alternatives being a plain white dress or a leather jacket, pants and a top.
    • Finally, she has a satchel that keeps her bottle of poison, a bottle of water, some dried food, a box of matches and a box of painkillers and aspirin.
  • Assets:
    • Maria has many contacts in the criminal underworld, being respected and maybe a little feared among her criminal brethren. She also has her fair share of enemies within the criminal underworld although Maria made sure that they didn't have too much power within the underworld.
    • She managed to keep hold of a pouch of precious stones and also has a bank account, under an alias, that isn't being watched or seized.
    • As a means of transportation, she has a wolf (bred for the purpose of being ridden) large enough to carry her, with pure black fur, and who Maria has a close bond too and has named obsidian.
  • Bio:
    • The middle child of a Dwarven master smith and Lunar caste elf diplomat that found each other when her father (the Dwarf) was personally mining on a moon that Maria's mother was visiting. Falling in love, they got married and went to live on the most populated moon in the galaxy where Maria's father continued mining and then smithing, while Maria's mother took a job on the moon there although she frequently went on diplomatic missions.
    • Having to compete with six other siblings and having nothing special going for her, not being the youngest or oldest daughter, she lost the war of attention she raged on her siblings and was left to do whatever she wanted to in life and her childhood. Subsequently she buried her head in any books she could find and developed a talent for thieving, which she used to thieve books and anything shiny she found interesting, and also grew resentful to her parents who simply never had time for her, despite how much interest she showed in their arts.
    • When faced with the choice of what to do as a late teen, Maria originally chose to be a scholar. Growing well-versed in the various geography, cultures and economies in the world. On her first trip away from her university, Maria's ship was ambushed by the various crime syndicates that plague the galaxy. Her greed getting the better of her, and realizing that she wanted a life of unpredictability and adventure, Maria joined the crime syndicate instead of the alternative. Turning her back on her parents, Maria's life of crime began.
    • Used by the crime syndicate she joined to break into places, her magical skill greatly aiding that aspect of crime, Maria was also trained in basic battle skills, where she began her love of ranged and bladed weapons, although these skills were only concentrated on after Maria's first kill. Soon proving an adept assassin, Maria found that she didn't mind killing for the riches she gained. While she never rose to the top, that title being reserved for the best of the best, people who were brought up in the assassinating role, Maria still rose through the ranks fairly quickly for her experience and became a respected and feared member of the criminal underworld, not THE most feared but enough for you to not want to mess with her.
    • Growing wealthy, Maria, and the rest of her gang, were soon targeted by by the Alliance's police force and, after a several year long operation, they managed to bring the gang down to it's knees, picking off the leading gang members and either killing them or putting them in prison. Maria managed to escape due to not being high up the group and paying a few policemen to give her the blind eye , but only just and as such couldn't carry much with her. Labelled as a fugitive, Maria adjusted her appearance slightly, making her face a darker shade of violet, dying her hair silver and cutting it shorter so it only reached just past her shoulders and was straightened.
    • Slightly lost as to what to do apart from running, Maria soon heard of a newly made mercenary group on a backwater planet. Seeing this as the perfect place to hide while still making some money, Maria secured passage to the planet and signed up.

  • Name: Weiss Krausnik
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 25
  • Race: Half-Elf
  • Appearance: Weiss is a rather pale young man, muscular, but not in a bulky way, he is rather more of a wiry, svelte sort, he has light brown hair and almond colored eyes, the classic “elfish ear” appearance to his ears, though slightly smaller than a full blooded elf's ears. He is rather handsome, and carries himself well. He usually wears a brown armored vest, a black shirt under that, slacks, and boots. His arms are covered to the elbow by a pair of armguards.
  • Personality: Weiss is a rather cheery individual, despite being cast out from his home for his “heritage”, deciding he will not let his past make him an insufferable brooder – though there are times when Elves are brought up that a darker side to his personality surfaces. He believes in a rather simple moral code – “I do what I do for money, but if there's the opportunity to do good on the side, I should take it”. He suffers no nonsense during battle, though, and uses any means to defeat his foes, regardless if they are considered honorable or not. He believes that the foremost drive in battle is to survive, and that this takes precedence in the case of a wanderer like him over some sort of honor code of the type that Knights make use of. Note, though, he has an incredibly sarcastic wit, combined with a Seen It All perspective, resulting in him dispensing verbal barbs with impunity.
  • Class: Spell-Sword
  • Skills and Abilities: As a Spell-Blade, he makes use of several kinds of spells, including Conflagration (a short range flame spell that is shot from one's hands), Frostbite (shoots a freezing blast of energy that buffets the foe with ice...and freezes the ground), Spark-Storm (lightning type spell that he mostly uses in cases involving water due to poor accuracy), as well as Banishing Blade (enchants his sword to deal better damage to undead creatures) and a "simple" healing spell made to heal mostly external wounds that haven't caused deeper damage.
  • Possessions and Gear: He uses an old sword his mother provided for him called Onyxia, which is enchanted to create difficult to extinguish Black Flames when swung, these only following the swing of his blade, being a close range flame attack. He has a crossbow as a secondary weapon. His armor has been enchanted to be strong against other magic. He has one Healing potion, one potion that basically explodes when thrown and releases a lot of smoke, and another Potion that temporarily strengthens magic. He has a magic tool called Ether-Brand that insulates him from curses. It is a necklace with a blue teardrop at the center.
  • Assets: He has about ten gold pieces / Gold Piece equivalents, no home, no connections. He is a wanderer, a cast out.
  • Bio: Apparently, Weiss was born of a scandalous relationship – his father was patriarch of the Krausnik Family of Elves, when he was too drunk one night and had a fling with a young woman named Mirantha. The Krausniks are a very, very, very old-fashioned family that has fallen into being disliked by other elves for being obtuse, old fashioned, and unduly arrogant due to some of them being highly placed in the Castes. Due to Mirantha deciding to keep the baby, she was not exactly able to stay with the amount of hostility she was facing. She wandered for a time before handing young Weiss off to another wanderer, as she was apparently “sick” according to this wanderer, leaving him only a Sword as a hint to who she was, with this Sword to be given to Weiss “when he leaves home”. The Wanderer raised Weiss until he was stricken with an infirm condition, and could wander no more. The Wanderer settled down into the Mandabus Cottage, a run down old place. Weiss knew little to nothing of his mother, so once his erstwhile father passed away, he left his “home” and never looked back. He has since tried to find out as much about his mother as possible, using Onyxia as a hint. Weiss has thus, since his eighteenth birthday, wandered the world looking for his mother. Seven years later, he's still looking for Mom.

Rapier: To answer your question... Karshold was settled a human generation or two ago, though it bears signs that it may have been populated some time in the past. It was settled with somewhat modern magitechnology and since then, it has lagged behind a little, though they do buy from the large metropolis. The settlements are connected by a few roads and depend on a certain extend on one another to sustain themselves. The local fauna is certainly dangerous if you are not ready for it, with quite a diverse amount of peaceful critters and then some large dangerous ones.

Tricksen: Hmmm this is a tricky one. There are a lot I like here, and also stuff I'm iffy about. I do like how you incorporated details on the setting, how you geared yourself up and thought of the abilities and backstory of your character. She truly does feel like someone born to it. However, I am a bit iffy on the level of her equipment coupled with overall experience. As mentioned in her backstory, she's someone that reached the top, so perhaps she's a bit to experienced as she stands to be starting up with the rookies. I'm also a bit iffy about such a criminal past... I do like that she's ambitious and has motivations to spend what she will be earning, but do worry about her personality and past.

Troy: Depends... though it does ring a few alarm bells.

Well what could I do to make her more to your liking? As for the whole experience issue, well she's lying low so it would make sense for her not to go to a 5-star mercenary group, but are three people who managed to storm a ship and kill the Warchief (who was probably the strongest person orc on the ship) really rookies?

  • Name: Galoni Thresh

  • Gender: Male

  • Age: 19

  • Race: Anthromorph (Beastmen) Subspecies: Avian - Bird

  • Appearance: At 4 feet 5 inches and weighing just sixty pounds, Galoni is small and scruffy looking - more feathers than muscle. The pale brown bird's green eyes look out from around a hook shaped beak, and his arms, from which much larger, barely functional feathers hang past his knees, end in dexterous claws . The feathers on his head are also especially long, terminating at about shoulder length in black tips that almost resemble human hair.

Personality: Galoni is impulsive and emotional, making him quick to act and respond to a threat, but somewhat scatterbrained and clumsy when it comes to dealing with the young, innocent, infirm, or other non-threats in a combat situation. When in an relaxed environment, he tends to be curious and inquisitive, especially when visiting new environments or upon meeting members of species he's had little interaction with, which includes most that are not his own race and elves.

  • Class: Brave - functionally a lightly armored tribal Paladin, with a very slight emphasis on healing over combat.

  • Skills and Abilities: Trained since he could waddle as a Brave, Galoni is especially skilled with his halberd at disarming and disemboweling foes and prey alike. He has also received both traditional medical training and continues to study divine magic - focusing exclusively on spells that heal, ease pain, or prevent it altogether, as he feels it is a waste of time and precious mana to try and accomplish what he can just fine with a spear.

His natural racial traits allow him to glide short distances, provided he's unimpeded.

  • Possessions and Gear: Galoni owns a simple, metal bladed halberd, which is both a weapon and a focus for his divine magic, at least in combat.

His most expensive possession - an heirloom he couldn't possibly afford otherwise - is a set of enchanted light weight chain mail that ends in a sort of kilt, protecting his torso and legs. The protection it provides is minimal by default, but it's light enough that it hardly impedes his movement nor his ability to glide. With a press of a button, it can generate a body encompassing shield that prevents movement, but greatly increases his resistance to most forms of damage, provides him with a limited supply of air, and protects him from hazardous environments, radiation, and the like.

Otherwise, he owns a rucksack larger than himself that he tries to keep stocked with medical supplies, his notes on flora, fauna, and the anatomy of all aliens he encounters, and, on odd occasions, food, water, and camping supplies, something he prides himself on doing without more often than not.

  • Assets: While always welcome back in his tribal home on another obscure backwater planet, Galoni has no prestigious home to call his own just yet, nor does he have much in the way of money. His most valuable connections are the friendships he's made among the earth elves that regularly visit his home - they were the ones he impressed enough with his medical skills and magic use that they agreed to take him along on an expedition to Karshold.

  • Bio: Like his mother before him, Galoni trained as a Brave - honored guardians of his people: defenders, healers, and keepers of tribal lore - from the moment he could heft a halberd on. It was from the latter that he grew a healthy imagination and appreciation for the world around him, and an insatiable desire to learn more, see more, experience more. When he first met a featherless elf who had visited his village to teach them her language and intergalactic history, his imagination soared with the stories of other featherless creatures and their entire populated planets, brimming with foreign cultures, flora, and fauna. He became convinced that he would one day see the universe outside his village, no matter how badly his parents insisted he stay home all his life to guide future Braves.

With help from an elfin scout, he managed to convince his family that exploring the greater galaxy would lead to future braves with far greater skill than any that had come before him; secure a position in an expedition to the far off planet Karshold; find himself in a skirmish with a set of ruthless desperadoes that had, to his great shame, forced him to flee for his life; and, penniless, stranded, and angry, stumble upon a man advertising for a mercenary group called the Hunter's Blades. With nothing to lose, he agreed to join up, even if he didn't entirely believe all he promised.

Indeed, the three are not rookies by all means, however, they are not exactly the stick by which the characters should be measured. They would be your bosses and the guys providing training and expertise. The three won't be taking an actual part in the missions, at least at the beginning. On the background, they will be taking some missions on their own to raise extra money for the company.

Thus, while you certainly don't have to make a rookie, I also don't want someone who's top notch and rose to the top.

  • Name: Hakushu Gaou
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 35
  • Race: Dwarf
  • Appearance:
    • Description: A grouchy looking brown-bearded grizzled dwarf warrior. She has a long coat of shaggy brown her up to her shoulders that merges with her beard partway down. She's a bit on the stocky side, but that's just muscle. She has a squarish face, but would not be entirely unattractive if she ridded herself of the beard. As it is, she looks like a rugged older biker who rides around in a Harley-Davidson. I'd supply a picture, but there are very few pictures of middle-aged female dwarves on the internet.
    • Height/Weight: 5 ft 4 inches, 155 pounds. That's around 165cm and 70kg
    • Clothes: She wears enchanted leather armor that lets her move around well with a brown cloak over it. Very practical, very ragged.
  • Personality: Hakushu is, to the core, a grouchy leader-type, hell-bent on getting her juniors in line. Quick to anger and one to criticize, she is like a nagging mother except that she could kick your ass any day of the week. Does have a kinder side. She cooks and looks after her juniors but also makes them work for the food.
  • Class: Sniper/Chef/Leader
  • Skills and Abilities: Is knowledgeable about general military tactics but has limited field experience. She's been on a couple of high stakes missions but nothing too dangerous.
  • Possessions and Gear: A set of cooking tools, her enchanted leather armor and her buffed Chu-Ko-Nu. It's the only weapon she has and she can enchant it on the fly in a couple of ways. She has her long-range sniper mode where she can fire a shot accurately from a literal mile away assuming good visibility and a high vantage point. It still has an automatic reload ability like this, but no more than a repeating crossbow in the real world. Her other mode enchants it with faster and automatic reloading (Say, two shots per second)with the added benefit of additional magical arrows on top of her regular supply. This would have an effective range of around 80 metres, that of a normal repeating crossbow.
  • Assets: A few connections to a couple of friends from the mercenary's guild from her previous occupation. Middle-class Parents still around if she ever gets around to contacting them.
  • Bio: Was raised in an ordinary household but adopted her mercenary guild as her family after she finished secondary-education. Quickly rose up through the ranks taking risky but high-paying jobs. Some of her seniors became jealous, and accused her for a theft of a higher officer's personal safebox. Unfortunately, her brash personality irritated many in the guild and despite being proven innocent, the fact that she was suspected ruined her reputation and she left the guild voluntarily. Since then, she's been traveling through to different planets, experiencing the galaxy, and taking odd-jobs here and there. She hasn't been getting too much combat experience so the thirst for fighting, rather than for money, brought her to the Hunter's Blades. Still, she has quite a nest egg she's built up over the years from her initial jobs from the guild and what she's built up, she's saved, living bare bones and rarely splurging.

  • Name: Ulrich Diraldan
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 47
  • Race: Human
  • Appearance: Lookin' for work.
  • Personality: Ulrich has a rather gruff manner but will open up and become more friendly to people he's gotten to know, whether over a couple of drinks or fighting side by side against an army. Some people take up the mercenary lifestyle for the glory, others for the ability to hone their skills, but most people became mercs for the money. Ulrich is the latter, he's in it for the money and sees glory and improved combat skills as a nice benefit to the job. Despite his rather simple view of his job, Ulrich will never betray whoever has paid for his skills for as long as he's on their payroll. When the money stops coming in, anyone's fair game if they can afford his services. Ulrich is used to fighting alongside all sorts of people and is rather accepting and appreciative of anyone who is going to stand and fight by his side.
  • Class: Brawler. Ulrich focuses on crowd control when he's fighting and usually aims to distract as many opponents as possible, allowing any archers or backstabby types to get easy kills.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ulrich's been selling his sword for more than 20 years and he's learned how to fight groups of people effectively as well as general knowledge of most major planets and cities.
  • Possessions and Gear:
    • A relatively simple broadsword. Ulrich doesn't see much point in fancy or enchanted swords and uses the sword he's fought with since his first battle.
    • A handaxe that serves as an offhand weapon and can be thrown in a pinch.
    • A short sword for use in indoor and underground environments.
    • Ulrich wears a simple suit of armour consisting of a hardened leather vest with a pair of steel pauldrons, steel plated leather gloves and a pair of light tassets to cover his legs.
    • A bare-bones first-aid kit consisting of a few rolls of bandages and sutures.
    • A small tent and bedroll.
    • A cloak that can double as a blanket if needed.
    • A flask of Dwarven whiskey that mostly serves as a painkiller and disinfectant for wounds.
    • Various tools for maintaining Ulrich's weapons and armour.
  • Assets: Ulrich's usually on the move and likes to keep his possessions to what little he needs to do his job and survive, so he doesn't really have a permanent residence or too many close connections.
  • Bio: Ulrich was born to a small but poor family in a rather large port city and grew up hearing war stories from some of the veterans that lived in his neighbourhood. These tales of battle excited Ulrich and got him interested in a life of combat, assuming that it would be a glorious lifestyle. Oh how wrong he was. Ulrich signed with the first Mercenary company he could find the day he turned 18 and shipped off to an off-planet skirmish with a small group of his fellow rookies. The battle ended poorly for the side Ulrich was fighting on, most of his squad was killed within minutes of the battle's start and Ulrich only managed to survive by falling in with a group of veteran fighters he knew from back home. The survivors cut their losses and headed back out to go find somewhere else to fight, getting their recruits slaughtered was a waste of perfectly good coin. The few experienced members that managed to survive that bloody day took Ulrich under their collective wings and taught him the basics of how to become a better fighter.

  • After a few years of training with experienced members of his mercenary company, Ulrich became a relatively skilled warrior and started earning a decent wage. Realizing that sticking with a group would impede his income, Ulrich decided to set off on his own and keep fighting for the highest bidder. Ulrich fought his way across the galaxy for two straight decades, rarely taking a break from war, before he stumbled across The Hunter's Blades. He'd heard of them and knew the pay was solid, so he decided to sign up and see if he could land a position with them.

  • Name: Uillzon "Billy" Deritt
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 18 (Equivalent to a human aged 29.5 years)
  • Race: Anthromorph (Beastmen), Subspecies: Aries - Ram
  • Appearance: Stands about 5'8". Muscular in build, with bulging biceps and a body shaped like an upside-down triangle. His legs, while thick, are short in proportion to the rest of his body. Covered in gray fur, and with a head exactly like a ram's (including large spiral horns and a 'beard'). Tends to wear simple leather overalls.
  • Personality: Generally speaking Billy's a difficult person to get along with. A deeply insecure and emotionally immature person, he projects the image of a bloodthirsty beast as a defense mechanism. He has a well-earned reputation for violence, but in his heart most of the things he does disgust him. His real personality, that of a world-weary neurotic, comes out on the rare occasions he speaks unprompted.
  • Class: Berserker — Billy wears little armor, but is very strong and fights with axes and/or sheer physical might. However, he doesn't exactly enter a battle rage - his mind is relatively clear during combat.
  • Skills and Abilities: Billy has incredible physical might, even compared to others of his subspecies. He is trained in the use of a one-handed axe (or two), as well as in multiple styles of wrestling. He has a powerful headbutt, and if angry enough may even charge an enemy with his horns lowered. Billy's greatest asset, however, is his combat experience; he's been in fights of every kind, and there's little he hasn't encountered before. He also has a great deal of knowledge relating to military history, technology, and tactics. He only starts a fight after planning his opening move if nothing else; against unskilled opponents he's more than happy to "wing it" the rest of the way.
  • Possessions and Gear: Billy carries two large-headed axes of identical design, "Pain" (left-hand) and "Fear" (right-hand). Both are enchanted by way of runic carvings to be incredibly strong and resistant to damage or wear. That aside, he was provided little by his family as he left to join Hunter's Blades, aside from a not-inconsiderable amount of money in a coin pouch.

  • Bio: Billy comes from a culture where men are pressured to constantly assert their masculinity, vitality, and strength. As a young boy, Billy had little of any of those things, and was constantly victimized by larger and more aggressive boys. By age 9, the peak of his adolescence, he had grown, and he had learned from his tormentors' constant beatings. Others no longer picked fights with him, but Billy vowed to never be a victim again. He trained his body and his mind day and night, building his muscles to tremendous size and absorbing all the information he could find on combat. When this training was complete, so was his transformation. Others feared him, especially other species. He started fights over imagined slights because he felt he was supposed to. Shortly after he turned 18, he killed three unarmed offworlders in a bar fight. His family, wealthy and respected in the area, was able to keep it quiet, but he was forced to flee his home and join a roving band of mercenaries in order to evade justice. At this point Billy realized he'd become a monster, and that he didn't - and still doesn't - know how to change.

  • Personality: Stoic, an ogre of few words with a harsh and unforgiving take on the world, his companions and himself but with a strict personal code of honor.
  • Class: Mounted warrior although he can fight well on foot as well.
  • Skills and Abilities: His primary skills are riding and shooting although he's adept with a spear as well. Good at living off the land, especially in plains and desert terrains. An adept tracker and also a gunsmith who makes his own bullets.
  • Possessions and Gear: A musket enchanted for accuracy, a spear for close quarters combat. He doesn't wear armor per se but his harness is enchanted for protection, No potions but he has a set of horse harness that is also enchanted to prtect his steeds of which he has two. They are thoats, six legged (Burroughs had eight but that's too much of a good thing) that resemble Percheron sized horses in shape but are hairless with brown skins (shading to black on the bellies), green hooves and wedge shaped tails (going from narrow at the base to wide). One is his battle mount, the other a spare. Also he has a bullet making kit that creates bullets that explode on contact.
  • History: From the planet of Bad Critters (does it have a name? If not I'm naming it Moozrab which is not quite Barsoom spelled backwards) He left his tribe when he lost the battle to replace a dead chief. Since then he has wandered, hiring himself out as a warrior. The Hunters blades are but the latest of several companies he's worked for.

Unfortunately, it is not... I'm sorry for the long silence and cowardice involved in it, however due to reasons I will keep private I won't be launching the RP. At least not this iteration.
