There was an official ban on eating meat until 1871, though apparently that didn't stop some people. By all means, though; I apologize for making a scene.

It's been fun.

I'm thinking of a Fae guy with a house on chicken legs all Baba Yaga style...

but it's more a shop on chicken legs...

and it's bigger on the inside...

and he has everything... for a price...

Sorry for my absence everyone, been a bit of a rough, long day. Anyway, here is the last judgments.

@Taco: Minutes plural, it should take to regenerate from a gunshot wound. Say, about five minutes or so.

@Troy: Looking once again back at your profile, I'm afraid I may not be able to accept it. While you get the aesthetics of the setting, I'm afraid your character may not work very well as a PC on this specific RP. He is too well trained and well equipped in comparison with the challenges I may throw at the players. Even if left on his own, the presence of such a hunter might disrupt the threats present within the RP.

@KSPAM: Daniel is approved, though I'll ask you remove the Holy Macedonian silver as it seems as a bit too much protection to start with. The rest of his custom wards are good and expected of one with such experiences.

@Claw: Similarly to Troy though to a lesser extend, this character is too well equipped and trained.

@Moe: Accepted, though depending on the case we may need to discuss the extend of her abilities. Mostly in what she can do before she runs out of power to do magic and how long would the reinforcements last and such.

@Anno: Hmmm I truly would prefer if your character wasn't so strongly based on its inspiration, but in and of itself, there's nothing wrong with it. Alexis may need to do some explaining about the supernatural if the gang gets in trouble.

@Infinite Paragon: Really like this character for the most part, though I'd prefer if he was a bit more human. It sounds like his inability to be shaken, surprised or disturbed is a bit too absolute and that kind of sounds like a big mood breaker. I can accept him taking stuff better than others and mostly not displaying many signs of his distress, but even the most unflappable should feel something specially with the reveal of magic and the dangers it presents.

@ Tropay Xion: Hmmm may not work as well as I expected... mostly because I feel like the setting is not being taken into account in your signup. How did an amnesiac Kitsune get to Volwick? Why remain there when it really isn't all that interesting for outsiders?

@ Truth Hurts: Luck manipulation can work as it isn't as broken as some think. Depending on scale it can just be a boon or bonus on the actions of one who is attempting them.

@ Taco: No arms dealers.

@ Raineh: Similar to Xion, though you explained how this Japanese Cat Spirit got to Volwick even if not why. Necromancer... That seems like a bit of setting changing power in that it allows for people to come back to life with their whole memories and will intact... and that's kind of a big deal. If the body doesn't decay then that's a big shortcut to immortality.

@Blue Beri: A moving shop on chicken legs... I don't think that would work within the highly urban Volwick.

Okay, so a well armed monster hunter wouldn't work. Alright. Out of curiosity would a plain Occult detective work?

[up][up][up] The body ONLY doesn't decay after resurrection. Seriously, she only has enough fresh corpses from, say, haunting LA at midnight in December. If she isn't around and/or it isn't cold? Not a shortcut at all. Personality loss increases with time from death.
And even if you do avoid all that, you're leaving a genki, hammy girl with the ability to give irrefutable commands if she's pushed into it. Kasumi normally doesn't, because it's abhorrent and unnecessary, but if it's a matter of life and death...

... as for why she's in Volwick... she wants to enjoy life. Set up in a town big enough to fund that, but small enough it's not to be incessantly pressured. Out of the way but not xenophobic. This is in the state most likely to have Japanese immigrants, so...

Well, Mikoto could have just been traveling when she ended up losing her memory, and she stays at Volwick because it was nearby and she just likes the place.

How does Undead works in this setting? I'm thinking a previously normal human who becomes a Revenant through Memento kinda reason.

...Actually, now that I've read other profiles some, Raineh, how likely is your character going to resurrect someone accidentally?

I'm thinking of using my character Mokara, from King's Contest (original sheet here) - there's a little bit of a rework going, like the mo'kai gaining an apostrophe in their name like their inspiration that I stole from, their existence being way better under wraps and smaller in scale and Mokara herself disguising herself as a human, being fairly jaded with her own species to the point she's almost a Death Seeker and actually holding a pretty high religious position amongst her own people as well (to the point mo'kai believe she enforces the will of their deity) and finally actually gaining some magical abilities as much as her mundane ones (ambiguous as to whether the god of the fictitious mo'kai religion exists or it is Mokara's own magic)

Any opinions welcome.

  • Name: Marcus Karrde
  • Age: 19
  • Gender: Male
  • Religion: Lip Service Christianity
  • Race: Revenant
  • Appearance: Mmm…
  • Personality: Lethargic. Sleepy. Worn. Terse. Talk. Like. So. Kinda. Annoying. Just. That. Little. Bit. Trollish. And. Teasing. Surprisingly. Smart.
  • Bio: Marcus was a rather normal guy living a normal life, working as a shelf-stocker to fund his law degree. Well embossed in “Japanese culture”, his life would changes dramatically whence upon he come to a chance encounter with a passing clusmy, yet extremely powerful, kitsune. Choosing to, foolishly upon further reflection, follow his first instinct of [x] Touching Fluffy Tails, he was off-handedly punched to unconsciousness. Instead of the story ending with an Aesopian moral –never molest centuries old foxgirl- it takes a dark turn. For reason mysterious, instead of waking up with the mother of all bruise but for the most part unharmed, his unconscious body would be shot straight through the heart, killing him instantly. After which, his corpse was buried under a children playground.

…Until…

On a bright noon, the sunlight blistering, not a cloud and nary an ominous thunderclap in the sky he rises!

For what it’s worth, he was pretty pissed about the whole thing. Hiring a PI of exceptional skill –and more than a couple diviners- he eventually find the culprits to be connected to some sinister syndicate, operating in this very city!

So begins the Amazing Adventure of the (wannabe) Lawyer Revenant: Quest for Justice: Justice Harder!

… Is what he wants to have happen. But, alas, life hardly proves to be so accommodating. Following a week of collateral damage laden adventure that leads to loss of roughly 3% of the Syndicate’s holdings, he was smacked upside the head by a hero of justice type and told to knock it off.

For the last six months since, he have been living the NEET life. Shut inside his apartment and uplinked to the internet. That, unfortunately, comes to a close yesterday. Thrown out due to missing payments one time too many, thus begins a new adventure!

…He wanted a warm bed first, though.

    • Crippling Social Anxiety: Played off as being the “cool, silent type”, Marcus is overtly tense in social situations. Knowing that he tends to tense up in the face of unprepared interaction, Marcus have taken to prepares for every single imaginable possibilities with his keen mind. Within limits of someone with a knowledge base colored by image boards and tvtropes.
    • Genius: A tertiary class genius note , Marcus is exceptionally capable of retaining knowledge, mathematical calculation and connecting patterns. He uses this to cheat at online poker.
    • Revenant: The state of non-life. Returned to life by uncertain means, his skin is pale and cools to the touch. He can withstand massive amount of punishment, and has a curiously high speed of regeneration. While he doesn’t truly need food or water, he rather enjoy such amenities. Incidentally, his theory is that he was buried where leylines cross, and that residual magic reanimate him. Therefore, it maybe more accurate to call him a Mana-borne construct?
    • Mana Reserve: Stupid huge mana reserve. Not being a magus himself, through, he can hardly utilize it.

Punched, rather than kill. Mhm. I guess I'd leave the cause of reanimation be vengeance like I originally planned to, then.

It's impolite to utilise someone else's characters without consulting them. This is important to remember. You can clash with established abilities, backstory—or, importantly—what the character would do. [lol]

Yeah, if that kitsune in your profile is meant to be mine... putting aside whether or not my character would punch someone over touching her tail, that's the kind of thing you need to ask permission for.

Not to mention, Dalt's yet to accept my profile, so best not to assume my character would even be around for that.

...and now that I have read that, it comes off as way more assholish and biting than I intended. Apologies if offended.

Found it. Made some minor changes though, mostly to fit the new signup scheme:

  • Name: Goes by Cade
  • Age: About 35 million-ish
  • Gender: Proclaimed Male
  • Religion: None
  • Race: Guardian Elemental
  • Appearance: Normally wears a black jacket over a white T-shirt and jeans, with black hair. Normally has regular, dark brown eyes, which turn red as he uses more power. Non-human appearance: [1]
  • Bio: Cade is a dragon-esque elemental spirit who can assume a human form, who is supposed to preside over the Cascade Mountains. People among the magically community who dislike him call him 'Helen' derogatorily, Cade, having once made an offhand comment to the effect of "Huh, well yeah I could have stopped the eruption if I wanted to." His 'job' as much as the term applies ('purpose' might be more accurate) is to protect the planet from large scale otherworldly threats. Spends most of his not-fighting-Eldritch-abominations time wandering around looking for delicious foodstuffs.
  • Personality: His attitude towards most of what goes on, especially as far as humans are concerned, is one of nonchalance. He does find them amusing however, and usually good for a laugh. As such he takes a stroll into human society when sufficiently bored and hungry (sufficiently in this case being a rather low threshold) for entertainment. May or may not get actually get drawn into whatever the rest of the characters are doing, and if so, it will only be to amuse himself. Cade is likely to require large amounts of foodstuffs during any incident.
  • Skills: Has the power to manipulate the elements fire, wind, and earth (being the spirit of a volcanic mountain range). Also has magically boosted speed/strength when in human form, and is top-class even when counted amoung magi and spirits with a speed/strength specialty. All abilities are reduced outside of his home turf (taking him essentially from a high-end (nigh Deus-weight) Lottery-Weight to a normal one).
  • Assets/Possesions: Some cotton candy he recently bought. It is quite delicious.
