I agree, we are definitely in wrapup mode here, tying up loose ends left and right.
Optimism is a duty. The Friendship Journal isn't canon discontinuity, it got mentioned in Frenemies.
Yeah, and besides, Whooves seems like the sort of guy who would have researched this.
Optimism is a duty.A thing about Big Mac's talking to keep in mind.
Even though he can speak normally, he's never just done so without the occasion being really special. His heart to heart with Apple Bloom for instance was just that, a heart to heart. An emotional moment where he was able to articulate his complex feelings into words. He spoke when dressed in drag, but that wasn't him being himself.
Big Mac is naturally quiet and reserved.
Kaze ni Nare!Yeah, Big Mac is one of those kinds of people that will only actually "speak" if he has something he really wants to say, especially after he nearly got Granny Smith unnecessarily-surgery'd in his youth.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayIt really is heartwarming how Octavia was the only one who passed all parts of the job interview with flying colours.
And I really liked the way Starlight desperately wanted Trixie to be right for the job in spite of everything. It’s very relateable. She wanted to stay by her friend as much as she could. Especially since her position was already eating into their time together.
Kaze ni Nare!Is there a trope for when a character can only speak in the jargon of their defining character trait? Like how Octavia was always talking in musical terms this episode? Whooves does it too to some extent.
Optimism is a duty.I'unno. It felt a bit like Flanderization, honestly. Except that there was really nothing before that they were Flanderized from.

There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.A friend of mine brought up a really cool little tidbit.
One of Starlight's first focus episodes ever involved her forcing Big Mac to speak against his will. Her last focus episode includes a scene of her talking amicably to Big Mac about his voice, and being understanding about how he just isn't comfortable speaking around others.
Just a nice little thing showing how far she's come.

Kaze ni Nare!Alright, “Gauntlet of Fire” is today.
Woop, woop.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. That was a fun episode overall. Lol at saying "wink" over and over.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI'm getting a weird hype anticipation for the finale. The Awesomeness Withdrawal is probably gonna be huge after this show's been a huge part of my life for the last 7 years. Hope its ending is more Star Trek: The Next Generation and less Game of Thrones.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit.Has any major finale of the last few years been well-received?

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayCoulda sworn Phineas and Ferb's finale was well-received, despite some mediocrity from episodes before it. Until they undid it with that sort-of sequel show, anyway.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit. The Weirdmageddon trio was pretty dang good, that is true.
Weirdmageddon was good, but it was marred a bit by the delay of the last part, which was honestly way too long. I had some minor hype aversion by the time it came along, honestly.
I don't see this show go down in flames like Game of Thrones. Sure, the season had some hiccups, but it was pretty good overall, especially concerning it's main arc. Sure, Grogar is a bit of an Orcus On H Is Throne, but I'm sure he will more than make up for it in the finale.
Optimism is a duty.I expect the ending two-parter to be mainly bullcrap, mostly because the ending two-parters of this series usually are.
Even Season 5, which gets credit because of it’s use of the Magic of Friendship in a way that isn’t as a mystical power source, is mostly bullcrap.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. Also in the case of GOT, the writing was on the wall. The previous seasons were clearly getting worse over time (mostly due to not having the books to follow any more).

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYeah, with GOT, everyone knew stuff was on its way downhill before the actual finale aired. With MLP, the general consensus I've seen is that this is one of the better seasons. I'd personally rank them 7 > 5 > 4 > 9 > 2 > 8 > 6 > 1 > 3. The only way it could really fall flat is if it forced an ending, rather than let things culminate on their own, but it doesn't look like it's in danger of doing that. Stuff's being wrapped up in believable ways left and right.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit.
I was thinking last night that we really are in something of a wrap-up/transitional phase, if not really a continuous arc. We’ve consecutively had the final Summer Sun Celebration (with Twilight actually starting to act like a princess), spotlights/turning points in the Fluttershy/Angel and Spike/Rarity relationships, and a shakeup in the Friendship School hierarchy. And the remaining few before the finale seem poised to continue the trend.
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.
