I forgot there was an episode of MLP:FIM today, so I accidently posted during the episode. Oh well.

If I recall, all you need to do is talk to some NPC just outside the auction house and it will show up again.

I'm skeptical, but it's worth a try, I guess.

Final Fantasy 6: During that cactuar hunting, a bunch of people learned spells do to all the AP. I didn't pay close attention, but I think Sabin and Celes learned Ultima and Setzer and Cyan learned Reraise.

Talked to the NPC again, and sure enough, Excalipoor is the very first auction.

Excalipoor does not have great stats.

Gilgamesh magacite get

Ok, now time to try Dragons Den again.

I realized that unlike Kefka's Tower, Dragon's Den doesn't seem to be designed to force the 3 parties down distinct paths. Which means that I don't really need 3 strong parties. So my new plan is party 1=Sabin, Setzer, Umaro, party 2=Celes, Cyan, party 3=Mog. Yes, just Mog. Not like they'll have to fight anything.

Sabin, Setzer, and Umaro are my only characters that can dish out a lot of damage without spending MP. My plan is to go for overwhelming force to crush enemies before they can do much. Sort of like what I did with Sabin for most of the game.

Actually, Setzer didn't manage to learn Reraise. He's at 72%. Oh well.

As part of Operation Shock and Awe, I decided to try giving Setzer the Genji Glove and Viper Darts. Also swapped out his armor for Black Garb and Red Hood because gotta go fast.

Unfortuantely, I'll have to redo the first puzzle. That's going to be annoying.

Well that plan isn't working out so well. Sabin and Setzer died to a Vilia in the second battle.

Setzer hasn't gotten a single Death out of his viper darts yet.

Team Sabin got taken out by a Vilia again. This isn't really working.

Is it me or does Genji Glove actually make you do less damage?

The problem is that Vilias are just too tough to kill quickly and O Verture is a death sentence.

Oblivion missed against a great dragon. So much for the ubermoves.

That reminds me. I found out that Cyan normally learns Oblivion at level 70, much like Sabin with Phantom Rush. While searching, I found a page claiming that Oblivion can't be learned at all except from the Doma sidequest. That person probably thinks Sabin can't learn Phantom Rush without talking to Duncan either.

I tried giving Final Trump to Setzer, but it barely does anything more than Viper Darts. Oh well, so much for that. Shame you can't get 2 Fixed Dice.

I'm now up to where I was before. Time to beat up the Red Dragon.

Red Dragon is sacrificing life force to make itself stronger!

All my attacks are doing 0. Huh.

How the heck do you beat this thing? It's the Guardian all over again.

To the interwebs!

Oh, you're just supposed to survive long enough for it to suicide. Well this will probably be tough, since neither of my parties are optimized for that. Time to give it a shot.

Loaded up Celes and Cyan on defensive relics. Cyan reraises himself, Celes reraises and vanishes herself. So far, so good.

Well that wasn't so bad.

Grand Cavern. Oh man, this place is just like the Zone Eater's Belly.

Obtained Celestriad. I think that's what I was supposed to get from beating the brachiosaurus. If the stupid thing would have just shown up. Oh well, got itnow anyway.

It's interesting how every little area in the Dragon's Den has a unique name in the start menu

There was a blue flame patrolling the hallway, but I managed to run past it. That could have been bad, because Mog can't fight their way out of a paper bag. I could have easily been stuck.

Ran into one flame. Mogpredictably died.

Man, there are flames everywhere here. And the real problem is that I have no idea where I'm going.

Made it out of flame hell, aka the cloister of trials.

Found another party change room.

Found the Skull Dragon. Mog predictably dies instantly. I just wanted to know which one it is anyway. I'll have to come back with a real party, but it's pretty far away, so nice to know which one I should bring.

Actually, I should probably rearrange the parties again first, anyway.

It seems that spells aren't affected by Overture at least. Unfortunately, Celes doesn't do that much damage despite being high leveled and +Magic esper boosted and using the Soul of Thamasa. And it's pretty MP intensive.

This is pretty much the fault of the Advance version designing tougher enemies specifically for the Dragon's Den. Consider that Vilia's have 23 000 HP and 160(!) MDef, when the Great Behemoth, one of the tankier enemies of the final dungeon, only has 11 000 HP and 105 MDef.

I don't know, it just did. I had to recast it several times. Most likely, I was accidently ending it myself with self-healing/buffing.

Quake would have knocked it off too. Speaking of which, the Float status turns Quake into a joke.

And where the heck did Setzer learn them? I've barely used him.

What about in Darril's Tomb?

It's almost like it's deliberately designed to annoy and discourage players.

I think it's more that they didn't think things through when they programmed those things in. A lot of older JRPGs didn't bother tweaking the odds on extra silly stuff like this. I guess if we're being entirely fair, they might have been catering to kids with that. At least, I know when I was younger, I was easily entertained by it and went to the hall just to see the skits over and over.

Excalipoor does not have great stats.

Ergo, the "poor" part.

Setzer hasn't gotten a single Death out of his viper darts yet.

Given its status as a post-game dungeon that was added way later, I'd wager most of the stuff in there just plain has instant death immunity.

Is it me or does Genji Glove actually make you do less damage?

According to this wiki entry: "Allows user to equip two weapons at once. Increases Defense by 5. Due to a bug in the game, damage is reduced by 25% whenever a character equips a Genji Glove, but only one weapon; the damage algorithm was supposed to give this reduction when two weapons are equipped."

So unless you're only using it with only one weapon, it's just you.

The problem is that Vilias are just too tough to kill quickly and O Verture is a death sentence.

Even with Auto-Haste on Sabin and using Phantom Rush? You might want to consider teaching people more magic.

Party 1 is all the powerful non-spell damage dealers (Sabin, Setzer, Umaro). My main magic user is Celes, but I made her the second party. I suppose the shock and awe strategy won't work until Setzer is buff enough to reliably hit the damage cap with his dice.

I'll probably be rearranging the parties soon anyway.

She's not going as herself, she's going as a Shrinking Violet high school girl who became a she-demon with the help of a magic-sucking device and evil schoolmates.

You know, that one on the other side of the portal with her looks and her voice and a guy who looks like a human version of her brother.

Actually, pony Twilight started out way more self-confident than human Twilight. It was probably because she already had friends around her, even if she barely spent any time with them.

Quake would have knocked it off too. Speaking of which, the Float status turns Quake into a joke.

I've never actually bothered to figure out how Float works. Quake doesn't seem like a big deal anyway. Of course, I read that the Earth Dragon has an attack that removes Float status, so it's irrelevant anyway.

What about in Darril's Tomb?

That could have been it. Though he spent most if it K Oed, IIRC.

Final Fantasy 6: How does one wear both Miracle Shoes and Sprint Shoes at the same time?

Anyway time to explore the early branch once more with Mog, and then form a hit team for the skull dragon.

Hmmm. The party change idea might be harder than I thought, because the way the switches work mean that there's no way to get all three parties into it. That's annoying. Guess I have to solve another puzzle first.

On the bright side, having the Celestriad means that Celes can now go all out in battles without worry.

Dualcasting Ultima makes battles surprisingly easy.

Got another set of Force Armor. Half my characters can't wear it anyway though.

Celestriad + Ultima would feel pretty cheesy, but I'm not the one who gave the trash mobs 23k hp, Entice and Overture. Not that I've actually seen any Vilias yet since I'm no longer in that area.

I don't think there's any point in giving Celes +magic any more, since Ultima 9999s every time anyway. And obviously no point in boosting MP. I don't know, guess I'll give her the cactuar.

Celes is level 71 with 65 magic, for reference.

Meanwhile, Cyan does 4k per hit. 4k. Oh well, I only brought him along just for teh sake of having more than one character anyway.

An Abaddon silences Celes on the first turn. Clever skeleton, there.

And of course Cyan's confused.

Cyan: Wait, what? Why isn't it dead yet? I mean more dead than a skeleton already is.

Cyan dies (thankfully), Celes slowly whittles it down with her sword. I could have used an echo screen or something, but I figured I should at least try to win it without items.

Unfortunately, Celes appears to be completely trapped. She jumped down a ledge, and there's no way out.

She didn't even accomplish anything besides grabbing a force armor. This seems weird.

Oh I see, Mog can jump across a gap. They already could, but I never noticed that before. It's often really hard to tell where you can and can't jump.

Abbaddon confused, imps, and dooms Celes. Cyan solos it fast enough to stop her from dieing anyway.

And also made Celes float for no apparent reason.

And darknessed, but who cares about that?

An Armodullahan took out Celes and Cyan. Guess I should have healed instead of pressing the attack.

Oh, come on! Now Sabin is trapped.

There's probably a way out of here. It just involved a lot more running around with Mog, trying to figure out where I can jump. Like usual.

Mog's been through every area like 5 times.

Hexadragon's revenge attack killed Celes. Luckily Cyan can revive her.

Ok, after a bunch of running around with Mog and Celes, Mog is back to Sabin. Now I think if Sabin moves up to the room and then Mog and Celes do the thing in reverse, I should have everyone back together.

It's a little annoying how you have to run around so much to get anywhere due to the maze like nature of the puzzles. But at least Mog doesnt' get encounters and Celes doesn't care and they both have sprint shoes.

It is a cool puzzle, just annoying while you try to figure it out.

Ok, finally got the gang back together. Next time: Forming a hit sqaud for the skull dragon.

Thanks guys. I really needed that.smile Also, I'm starting to think that ponies in general are part cat.

On another pony note, random headcanon of mine: I like to imagine that Vinyl's eyes actually are red, but they're also sensitive to sunlight {Kind of like Albino's} so she wears purple contacts that make that less of a pain for her, and the shades help too. Yes, I know contacts do not work that way, but this is a world where Friendship is a literal weapon used against baddies and all kinds of spells exist. You never know what else might exist out there. There's probably a Weight-loss spell, which explains why Celestia isn't morbidly obese at this point with all the cake she eats.

Speaking of Vinyl, this first pic is badass and the 2nd one is cute.

Well, not entirely. It's possible to start the fight in the status, which forces the dragon to waste an action removing it. Since it can be multi-targeted, a character can negate Quake unless the dragon keeps spending actions to remove it. Then the other three party members can beat the crap out of it.

@marston: I don't know about Cadance, but for awhile there was a meme about Luna's favorite food being grilled cheese sandwiches. It came from an activity book (I think?) that had a food associated with each one of the princesses along with recipes for making those foods. Luna's was called "Glorious Grilled Cheese Sandwiches" or something along those lines.

Final Fantasy 6: So I looked up how Quick works. Apparently, you really could use it infinitely in the original version, but they changed it in the GBA port so you can't use Quick inside of a Quick.

I can no longer seem to find the way to the Skull Dragon. I did it before. I don't get it.

Celes hit the HP cap at level 73, thanks to her Red Cap. She was just below it (9964) at level 72.

Sabin meanwhile has only 8885 hp.

After wandering around and going back and forth over the area for a while, I figured it out again. Battle time!

I forgot to mention who the hit squad actually was. It's Sabin, Celes, Terra, and Setzer. All the people who know Rasp.

Each of Celes's Rasps do more than double what Setzer does. Makes sense, as he has a low magic.

Sabin's Rasp does 1438. He does nearly as much as Celes without dualcasting. Celes's is 750 or so. I should have just given the soul to Sabin. Oh well, it'll be over soon anyway at this rate.

And then Terra was a zombie.

Actually Setzer is too.

Sabin died of doom.

756 is on the high end of Celes's rasps. Another one was in the 670s

Setzer tried to kill himself but he's already dead. Celes arised Sabin though.

Well that was pretty easy. Would have been extremely difficult if I only had Setzer though.

Especially if I didn't even know the gimmick. I proably would have wasted ages on that stupid thing.

Apparently Esuna doesn't work on Zombie. Neither does Arise.

Oh well, I'll just leave Terra and Setzer as zombies till I get back to the party room.

Braaiinnnssss....

I just realized that after you defeat Skull Dragon, it creates a shortcut back, so I could have skipped half the journey. Oh well.

The party keeps dieing to that cart monster. It's hard to tell why, but it doesn't help that Setzer keeps trying to kill Celes.

Oh well, next time I see one of those things, I'm using reraise.

Armodullahan. That's what it's called.

Sabin and Celes both died and were reraised. Sabin was finished off by mosnter attack, Celes got hit in the back of the head by a bunch of dice. Luckily, I just realized that Cuaraga can be multitargted too.

Celes and Sabin died again to Blaster.

Celes arises Sabin and reraises herself. Immediately afterwards, Armo thunders her to death.

Sabin dies to spear.

Celes blocks blaster with shield.

And while Celes is busy reraising everyone yet again, Zombie Setzer finishes off the enemy.

Finally, that stupid thing is dead. That was 3 deaths each for Celes and Sabin. I spent so much time raising them that I didn't have many turns left over for attacking. Battles are hard with a zombie Fixed Dice Setzer in the party. (Plus Zombie Terra, but she's a lot weaker).

You know, it's a really good thing that Zombie Setzer doesn't seem to get the benefit of the Master's Scroll.

Oh wait, I unequipped the scroll before the skull dragon fight since it'd be useless anyway.

That was even luckier, seeing as there's no way to take equipment away from a zombie.

Ok, back to normal parties. I also added Gogo to Sabin's party for the heck of it.

Now if I could only remember where the seal that opened up was.

Found it.

I am now in the Holy Palace.

Obtained Magus Robe. It is equippable by Strago, Relm, and Gogo. Now is that a random assortment or what? I can understand the Strago Relm connection, but Gogo?

The other two rooms of the Holy Palace are completely empty. Guess I need to flip a switch elsewehre first or something.

Oh, there's a hidden switch between the two lava pools outside. There was a clue about it earlier, but I thought the dragon was supposed to appear there.

And now there's a dragon inside the palace.

I wonder what the Holy Dragon's gimmick is. Hopefully they just made it a little tougher like the Ice, Earth, and Blue dragons, rather than an outright Puzzle Boss like the Red and Skull dragons.

Time to see.

Holy Dragon calls for heavenly aid!

It begins by lowering Celes and Cyan to 1 hp.

Followed by Saintly Beam. Good thing Celes managed to get reraises off inbetween.

Cyan dead again before I could do anything.

Celes reraises herself and arises Cyan.

Celes curagas herself and hastegas. Cyan reraises himself.

Ok, now I can start attacking.

The dragon is healing itself though.

After each 10k ultima, it heals itself back for 6.3k. This is going to take a while.

Dragon offs Cyan again.

And then again after the reraise. How does it attack 3 times in a row? No fair!

Celes tries a Bio to sap the dragon, followed by an Ultima. That was chosen a turn ago before Cyan died twice btw.

Celes dead. This is getting close.

Celes curagas and reraises herself.

Then arises Cyan and hastegas.

Some more healing and rerising and Celes gets to start spamming Ultima again.

If the Dragon counterattacks Cyan's Fang with curaga, then Cyan is actually doing net negative damage. Wow.

The dragon is at 38253/55000. This is going to take forever.

From now on, Cyan is just going to heal. Bushido seems to be highly counterproductive here.

Unfortunately, the dragon did it's cheap Saintly Beams 3x in a row thing again, killing off both Celes and Cyan for good thing time.

It's like the designers for the bonus dungeon saw that Reraise is a thing and went "screw that, we'll make an enemy that kills you twice in between each of your turns."

Ok, time to try again with a different outfit. Not that it's likely to make much difference.

This time Cyan isn't even attacking at all, just spamming heals.

It's going a lot better so far.

Yep, won without either character dieing even once. I wonder if Cyan's early bushdio attacks last time made it counterattack a lot, putting me on the back foot. Because this time Celes was able to pump out Ultimas every round after the first. Cyan's constant healing made that easier of course. Though the real difference is that it didn't use Heartless Angel at all until the very end this time.

Oh well, guess that's enough for now.

Obtained Zanmato, a weapon for Cyan, coincidentally.

Yeah, if a given FF boss appears to be taking several actions in a row, unless it's the 3rd game (where every boss always gets two actions), it's very likely because you're setting off counterattacks. With the 6th game in particular, they tend to be percentage-based, which adds some RNG factor.
