I live in an area with very good public transportation, so I'm not really sufferring from the fact that I can't drive at the age of 20. My parents, however, really do want me to drive, and I was thinking about it.

Maybe i should, at least for emergencies. Unfortunately, my memory is absolutely terrible, so I may not retain a lot of information i would learn from driving lessons. Also, I get kinda dizzy when i concentrate on something (like staring at a screen or out a window) while sitting in the front of the car whenever one of my parents drive. If I can't look out a window when being a passenger, I'm certainly worried if i ever do get behind the wheel.

[up][up] I'm a New Yorker too. My family only has one car so it wouldn't make much of a difference if I could drive or not.

My poor vision (due to having one eye. among other things) means that I won't be able to drive or obtain a license. And I'm currently 17, so... here I am.

I can't drive and I'm 30.

I got my permit once when I was 18, I drove once and then decided never to drive again. I was going to drive again but I never got around going a second time. The only part I hated about driving was going in reverse.

I'm doing my license at the moment. I already passed the theory and I've already had 4 (about 60-90 minutes) lessons. I need at least 12 lessons and I'll probably need A LOT more. I'm doing a manual license and actually the clutch and stick aren't my main problem, but I really have problems to do so many things at a time... I forget to look, I drive to close to the pavement, I forget to look at shields... I think my driving instructor really is annoyed with me already. I expect to be "done" in about 3 months, let's see if i maybe can write that I did pass, against all odds, but right now I'm not sure if it's not just a waste of money...sad

The family (as well as most of the job market) keeps pressuring me to get a driving license. Interestingly enough, my mother taught me the basics yesterday and, today, when all of the family was out and I was alone in the house, I managed to park one of the cars on my own in a slightly higher ground near the garden. I still had a bit of trouble at the very end (nothing dangerous, just a miscalculation), but I think the absence of social pressure made me calm down a bit.

However, I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with the idea of driving. I'm a bit speed-trigger happy (because the clutch pedal was heavy in one of the other cars yesterday, which made me lose coordination in the legs), and I fear the possibility of causing accidents or becoming victim of one.

Still, I made a tiny bit of progress today, since the car that I parked has softer pedals, which made me feel more comfortable with my feet.

I can't drive but next school year I'm taking driving school at school. But I'm nervous because most times I try driving either a car, truck or a moped stuff always goes wrong even to the point where my moped tried running me over.

I keep meaning to take driving lessons so I can move out of the city one day, but I never get around to it. Given I live in a city where everyone takes mass transit everywhere, getting a license is never on the forefront of my mind. A lot of people my age and older don't have licenses around you, because you don't need one

I have a permit, but I am unable to drive on my own without someone in the car.

So far, I have managed to master turning, and the accelerator.

The brake, on the other hand.....

Well, my stops are abrupt.

[up]I too have that brake problem, but it's usually if I feel I'm too close to hitting something (even when I'm actually not close enough).

Starting to get the hang of going in reverse, in spite of hitting the wall a little bit in the first attempt a few days ago. Naturally, my family is getting back to pressuring me to get the driver's license now that they see me doing something, but I said that I have to feel comfortable when driving a car first, before I attempt anything outside the house.

If I truly feel ready, I'll do my best to get itnote . But until then, I want to learn and memorize all the moves inside the house's area as much as possible.

I'm sixteen, but I'm afraid of driving/too lazy and depressed to study the manual/too autistic and easily distracted to be trusted on the road...I could think of excuses all day. Most of my friends have licenses.

I'm 20 and I will probably never learn how to drive simply for the sake of others around me. I get road ragey even when people are walking slow, so I don't wanna risk it.

I'm 24 and still don't have a license or even have any plans to get one any time soon - though I live in a place with good public transport, wherever I want to go there's most likely a bus/train/tram going there so I feel like I don't really need a car or license. And honestly I'm not sure I even feel comfortable with driving, I feel like I might have a hard time concentrating properly especially if I get bored

Public transport exists where I am, but isn't particularly good, it's not a place where a bus comes every 15-20 minutes. And I do have to take a bus at 6:45am to get somewhere at 8am, the place is out of the way.

I didn't manage to get my license until I was 24, but I lived in Upstate NY at the time so it was kinda necessary.[lol] Anyone still interested in learning want any tips?
