The Social Injustice Warrior, Quinton Reviews, and Cinematic Venom have already said everything that needs to be said about his downfall.
Huh, I never realized he had one of those moments.
Missed Joke Opportunity: Doug really should have opened that Stamps ad with "It's a B.E.A.U.-tiful day..." instead of simply "It's a beautiful day...", as it would have tied in nicely with the Jim Carrey theme.
I actually didn't know that Jim Carrey was actually friends with Clint Eastwood even during his early career (although in hindsight, Carrey cameo-ing in two of Eastwood's films during that era makes more sense now).

Yeah, he mentioned that during his last video, after the Stamps-thing.
Next Disneycember is going to be interesting...
I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person.Funny how there's Critical Dissonance with audiences saying his funniest movie was Dumb and Dumber, while critics think it was Liar Liar. I'm going to have to say that I agree with the critics. Liar Liar was just um...smarter?
That's the favorite comedy of most people in my family! It's even my uncle's favorite comedy...
...and he IS a lawyer!
My favorite Jim Carrey comedy is still Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. Though Liar Liar is probably my second favorite.

When Nature Calls is... enjoyable to some extent. When I watch it though (and knowing some of the BTS troubles), I kinda see why Jim Carrey swore off doing sequels for a long time afterwards.
My main criticism with the sequel is there's a lot of jokes that are just re-hashes of jokes from the first film.
Me personally, I think The Mask is Carrey's best film as it completely suited the type of actor Carrey is.
Liar Liar is good too... But it does have some consistency problems (there's a few moments where Fletcher definitely tells a lie, yet manages to get away with it).

Has Doug ever played a JRPG before? Not for any projects, but in general?

Watch Symphogearwhichever ace ventura has him crawl out of a robotic rhinos ass naked, while tourists watch in horror is my favorite jim carrey movie
That's the second one.
My favorite Carrey movie is The Mask.
Here’s another thing I just figured out: it’s strange how he says Ipkiss is his more relatable performance based on one interview where he’s clearly playing it up for the camera, like most actors do. In fact, his friends and even Carrey himself says that his character in Eternal is how Carrey is irl, yet Doug claims that’s just him “trying to be a dramatic actor” or something like that, as if he actually knows the real Carrey.
This is what I mean. It’s one thing to have an opinion, regardless whether you agree or not. It’s another to make up false equivalences or random interjections to explain your opinion. Like how he compares Interstellar to a Road Runner cartoon just to bash the former in his Modern Day Cartoons video or how one random side character is enough to praise an ensemble cast over another in his Batman v Dark Knight & True Grit Old Vs New videos, unless those were meant or be funny. Among other examples I’m sure has been listed already. Again, he has every right to believe whatever he wants and he doesn’t necessarily have to explain why but if he has to, he needs to do much better at that. Or just focus on being a comedian and stop this being a “legit critic” pretense, since his heart is clearly in comedy anyway.

Ironic that Doug would assume somebody's obvious stage persona is the real them over what they claim is the real them, when his fanbase has had that problem for over a decade.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Selectively oblivious? To be fair, web reviewers were weird about their version of Kayfabe in the early years.

Oh hey, it's that other Tom and Jerry cartoon that has a dark ending that isn't banned.
It's been 3000 years…My main criticism with the sequel is there's a lot of jokes that are just re-hashes of jokes from the first film.
Bruce Almighty is another underrated Jim Carrey comedy- I think some got turned off by the religious overtones but it's a lot better than your average "flawed protagonist sees the light" movie. Plus, it's got Steve Carell in a supporting role!
Edited by speedyboris on Feb 6th 2021 at 7:40:38 AM
The scene where Bruce trolls Steve Carell's character on air is practically that film's Signature Scene.
It's a funny film, but like Liar, Liar, the film isn't consistent with the rules it presents itself (the aforementioned scene above for example goes against the "can't mess with free will" rule that God gives).
I guess I'm just picky about those sorts of things.
Probably the coolest thing about Bruce Almighty is, because of this film, when we think of God, we think of Morgan Freeman.
Batman vs. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:
Stray observations:
- Hey, Hyper Fangirl, Benny, and Devil Boner, we haven't seen them in a while!
- "...Does she think *I'm* Batman?"
- "Pack your bags, Alfred, you're fired."
- "I recognized his shell!"
- That was one of the funnier sponsorship breaks recently.
- "That's only said by party dudes! *You're* not a party dude!"
- "All I can give you is my best...except when I don't care."
Oh, fuck, if those three are in it then I have to watch this one.
EDIT: Didn't get super invested in the review proper due to a lack of care for the TMNT and Batman mythos (except the furry versions of Batman villains, those were a delight), but the framing device was so lovely. So much Rewatch Bonus when you realize what their fanfictions represent.

Surprised they haven't done Arctic Dogs especially when they have tackled Nolan of the North. Would make a good callback to Balto too.

Frekshow Cinema: 9:
Man, that movie was a massive letdown. It had a truly kickass trailer promising an epic story and instead we got a bunch of pretty but kind of empty pictures. (Though flatness of the characters does ultimately make sense considering the third-act reveal.)
Just a person. He/him.I love the atmosphere of this movie more than anything.
It's been 3000 years…
I loved this video because...I agree 100% with everything he says.
Yeah, that's why I love it. I'm shallow that way, sue me.
