Simple sentences, I believe mostly just repeating what others had said.

I'm a bit softer on the movie but he mostly nails all my thoughts and criticisms. When it works it works, when it doesn't it doesn't, but I think overall it has a lot more value than the typical Disney remake.

I think the Wall review proves that Doug should stick to just mocking low hanging fruit like Garbage Pail Kids or the Pound Puppies movie, clearly, with the Wall, his ambition did not match his abilities.

Is this the NBC show or the shitty prequel? Because if it’s the former, goddammit.

That's what I meant. I see. Man, after so much buildup of Mason from the show, he ended up looking super stupid.

"FBI agent shoot woman who was carrying a baby" sounds like the type of thing that would get the FBI bad publicity wv3n if said woman was a ganf leader.

The Unsolved Mysteries intro for this years Nostalgiaween was pretty on point, a rather iconic series for the time period but something I'm not sure people are too familiar with today.

I can't help but wonder if the "There's no glass" gag was a Take That! at the last episode of Sherlock.

[up] I've only watched the first two seasons of this show but I know Rob ragged on the finale on his Facebook, so I think that might've been an intentional reference.

I will say too, their efforts to get around showing explicit content often results in a decent joke. That's partially the reason why ratings standards are a good thing for creativity, it encourages lateral thinking.

I always liked Unsolved Mysteries (preferably the Robert Stack era), but the show hasn't really aged well (examples of Bad "Bad Acting" in the reenactments), and they frequently made goof-ups in their segments, which (in my opinion) hindered some of the cases they highlighted.

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.

Not really worth it at this point. His videos and style have not aged well at all and the behind-the-scenes drama at Channel Awesome (which he was rather complicit in) really sours his image as a person. There's just so many better reviewers out there, including of course former CA blood like Lindsay Ellis, Linkara, etc.

I think he's made an easy-to-watch and breezy style of reviewing movies that has helped him get and remain popular. It makes for good binge watching, a vital part of internet content. I don't think he is really that good of a critic, and his reviews list the cast members unnecessarily, but he does have a few good gags and is able to express his thoughts in a coherent way. His limitations become more obvious in his editorial videos, as he often lacks a thesis and just tries to list pros and cons and his observations are more shallow.

In contrast, Lindsay Ellis is very well educated on her video topics and does so in a charming way, but is a lot more academic in approach and so requires a lot more of your attention. I've enjoyed every video she's put out (as herself), but I have to be in the right frame of mind to keep up with it.

Re: Doug's just kinda shallow always chasing the popular opinion.

Ehh... not quite. I mean he's said in more than one video that he thought Spider-Man 3 wasn't as bad as most people made it out to be (incidentally, Stan Lee said the same thing when I first saw him at a con, although he didn't like Gwen Stacy's depiction).

(Spider Man 3 sucks though. I tried to give it another chance a few years ago, but really the film is just a mess.)

He only said it was overhated because he felt all three movies in the trilogy were equally stupid, though. Not exactly a glowing defense.

And I mean, I can agree that objectively they're all pretty stupid. All of the Spider-Man movies are based on ludicrous situations and nonsensical pseudo-science. That's just something you're going to have to accept if you're watching them. But I'm not sure why you'd single out the Raimi movies as being stupid for those reasons while giving the Amazing films (or the current MCU films) a pass, despite them being just as silly when you get right down to it.

So, I conclude that Doug Walker is generally not good, but has at least a number of vids that are watchable at least.

At a certain point its just watch it and decide for yourself. There is a lot of other content on the channel besides Nostalgia Critic, Tamara's videos are especially adorable.

I sometimes rewatch his pre-reboot videos as I feel that they still hold up, but I don't watch his post-controversy videos (barring a few due to overwhelming curiosity).

Honestly thats the best way to look at it, at this point any old guard fans are either apathetic or outright hostile toward Doug so our view is gonna be skewed toward the negative

Basically if you want to watch him, see if he's reviewing something you'd have an interest in and go from there

Well, I will said raimi movie were particular cheesy because it try to have the comic booky feel of the marvel universe, meanwhile MCU have nearl twenty movie to work it out.

But yeah spiderman 3 is overstuffed, is not really that bad.

Hell I will said afflect daredevil is not so bad ether.
