Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (ASMR)

When I first started getting into ASMR, the roleplay videos worked great for me, but in the middle of watching one, it was like something flipped a switch in my head and threw me out of the experience, and my ability to suspend disbelief and fully immerse in them has been blunted ever since.

I'm watching the Kitty Klaw vids, not for the ASMR but because she's Russian it'll help my learning of Russian.

But truthfully if I want a tingly feeling I get drunk.

Fuck! Though my grasp on Cyrilic was better.

That would be Ephemeral Rift. Most of his stuff is too weird for my taste, but this one is insanely good.

I ended up dropping Pelagea...wet mouth sounds are a huge anti-trigger and she relies on them way too much for my liking.

Life Is Strange ain't immune to the ASMR.

Also, I might be addicted to camera sounds.

Appearantly, ASMR Darling gets a lot of flak. I also noticed Russian ASM Rs tend to be pretty popular.

Some should have trope pages, if you ask me.

Wait, for what? Shoddy equipment?

Any youtube creator invites drama. Some are Lolcows (from a trainwreck to a hotmess), others are just targets for trolls.

I feel there's a more specific reason than that because were that the case, several ASMR people would be ripe for some kind of targeting.

There will always be hostile trolls and creeps. If there are issues in a youtuber's personal life, sadly social media has a way of amping up the drama or exposing misdeads (see Role-Ending Misdemeanor). Well there is a reddit thread about her, but youtube drama or personal issues are out of the scope of this thread.

ASMR-requests has some of the highest production values, I swear.

I wish she'd do more sci-fi stuff.

Kizuna AI has also done three awesome ASMR videos ! But when I try to close my eyes to fully immerse in the experience, I hit the language barrier .

So... word around the grapevine is that Cloverless ASMR kind of self-destructed. She made a Life Is Strange video that is near and dear to my heart. She has talent, and as someone else put it, she "seemingly had her shit together" despite all of the edgy, hyperbolic content she was churning out.

So it's kind of depressing to wake up and see a "serious" video from her discussing her recent problems and downward spiral, and secondary sources confirming as much. It was hard to believe because her content is so edgy. I thought she was doing a Pewdiepie and just going, "ugh I'm so troubled" for more views. Shame on me.

Can't say I watched her streaming or Patreon stuff (just learned she had one), but regardless I felt the urge to say something nice to her after reading about all of that.

If she made more stuff like the Life Is Strange one she'd be one of the greats. I hope she straightens out.

Oh, and also... maybe a redirect for the full trope name (or maybe the ASMR page could be the redirect for it) ?

I added Cosplay and Periphery Demographic:

• Cosplay is huge with roleplayers as vids like "Harley Quin gives you a shave" are very popular (Personally I would never be in a room with her and anything sharp).

• A lot of works have ASMR Tingleheads who follow them because of ASMR. Bob Ross is the Uber-example.

Maybe it will be displaced to Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, with a ASMR as a redirect.

I've no objections to adding her.

As for the title, I'd just posted on the TLP that I maybe should've created the page as ASMR Video to make it more clear that it's focusing on the videos themselves and not just the phenomenon (doo-doooo-dee-doodoo). The actual name's almost never used outside of explaining what it is, so I wonder if we'd be sacrificing recognizability for correctness.

On the trope page for ASMR, I need to add Brown Note : some performers use flashing lights or certain images that can trigger bad reactions in people. Smart performers stick warnings at the beginning of the videos or post two versions - one with the potential Brown Note and the other without. Does this go on Trivia or YMMV???
