Same here I fully admit being a giant wuss whenever it comes to “dark” paths in games. also considering how the Genocide route in Undertale corrupted your file, fuuuuuuck that noise.

As someone also too much of a softy to do the Undertale no mercy route I'm actually morbidly curious enough to do the Weird route myself and not just watch it. It's def different than Undertale's no mercy route and promises to be more darker and darker in later versions, but as someone who enjoys corruption stories, the weird route promises to be very interesting.

Oh yes, even if my gut feeling is that Noelle stays on our side willingly or unwillingly through the path, it would be great if she eventually turns on the player and becomes an even bigger monster.

Nah, Spamton is pretty sympathetic IMO. Even the characters seem to pity him.

He's definitely meant to be tragic. Check out the road in front of his shop now that you've beat him if you haven't yet.

Metallic Madness: BAD FUTURE and Spamton NEO: BIG SHOT have a similar feel to me. I can't wait for the High Quality Rip.

It would be honestly be kinda freaky if the outcome of the Weird Route would be basically Noelle becoming obsessed with the Player romantically ala Monika. I mean, I doubt it, but if the Player can emotionally manipulate her in certain ways, well, it could be a potential outcome.

It would go from Anakin and Palpatine to Harley and Joker. With how the weird route feels like coercing Noelle into an abusive relationship like the ferris wheel and forcing her to take the ring, it would feel like you are reducing her to victim reliant on you, would this be a deconstruction of party romances in RPGS?

I find some intersting about kris, like is interstest in playing the piano, aparently he have research piano tutorials and he is pretty upset when susie mock is inhability to play hospital piano, there is also stuff like is reseaching summer vacation or him closing is eyes to asraiel door and more important, he researching the whole "how to do magic" is clear a this point he resent and envy is brother. Which is a intersting reversal from chara/asariel dinamic.

I feel in this way the whole weird route is probably kris trying to suplant asariel with noelly or also playing a twist relationship of himself and asariel by playing the role of "big brother" so to speak given the whole focus on this chapter is relationship and how they play out, this could be the case.

That would be legitimately cool and also more Nightmare Fuel, if partly because of how real it would be in some ways.

Also, some other thoughts on potential options: Imagine the player telling Noelle that the reason they're seeing everyone and visiting the hospital is because it's an RPG and they're talking to all the NPC characters. She would probably find this hilarious at first, because she'd totally understand that and think Kris is joking... And then she looks at Kris, and realizes that the voice is telling her this and it's not a joke. And then she starts realizing how everyone else acts. Would be another layer of existential horror for her. This could end with her either breaking and becoming the player's loyal puppet, deciding to rebel (if at the very least out of spite), or, well...

Okay, I finished Chapter 2 a few hours ago, and I have to say...

...why aren't more people talking about Sweet Cap'n Cakes? Seriously, those robots are fucking precious! They got catchy ass music to come with their presence. And their dancing. Oh my god, their dancing is so cute! I don't know why these characters are prompting such gushing from me, but holy shit their presence warms my heart so much!

Other than that, Queen is a hilarious antagonist, Noelle is a well deserved party member, and Berdy is funny even when he showed up to distract me from solving a puzzle. Toby Fox's dialog and humor is brilliant as always.

Once all of the chapters are released, I plan to marathon through the game and see how they all fit together. Mostly, this is prompted by the recruiting mechanic, which is an interesting addition that adds more to the pacifism vs. violence conflict. The full game is looking to be a hell of an RPG, especially if the Castle Town remains a constant throughout the rest of the chapters.

As for the ending, I will also subscribe to the theory that souless!Kris is the Knight. Their goal may be uncertain, but the results are catastrophic. As for Ralsei, I don't have the heart to say he's sinister, even if he knows more than he lets on. Perhaps what he does is for the greater good, or misguided. How Asriel will be involved in the situation is certain to be important, and it's unknown whether or not he will be an ally or enemy. But Flowey at the end...that's very concerning.

Anyway, loved the chapter, can't wait for more, and not even going to attempt the No Mercy Route. I don't have the heart.

Well It is a certain possibility that Noelle might go Monika or go rage against the player, but Undertale has this leaning towards the fourth wall element in that all the game mechanics can also be explained in-universe, so Noelle can go mad without breaking the fourth wall.

In a side note, Has there been any Snowgrave Noelle fanfics?

Probably a bit too soon for any in-depth fic stuff.

Though, speaking of fics, been thinking of a short fic idea - an Undertale/Deltarune fan finds themselves experiencing the events of Deltarune in their sleep extremely vividly. And the stress of it all, along with the realization of what they have the option to do when the time comes, causes them to break down and have a heart-to-heart with Noelle, who also believes what she's experiencing is a dream. They end up encouraging each other, and the protagonist openly encourages Noelle to kiss Susie when the ferris wheel ride happens, and for Noelle to encourage them to tell the truth to Susie as well. And the protagonist would have something of a more openly antagonistic relationship with Kris, only for them to develop some kind of odd sibling-esque bond.

The Snowgrave route makes me a lot more uncomfortable than the entirety of Undertale's Genocide route, which is surprising, because it's technically more tame as far as sins go.

The reference in Sweet Cap'n Cakes' name did it for me, but I didn't bring it up because I had no idea if it would have meant anything to anyone else here.

It's far more mundane and realistic abuse and turning an innocent girl into a cold murderer. And a teenager dies, like a straight up regular teen dies, while Undertale's cast are far more larger than life. Undertale's genocide route is more supervillain levels of evil. So it's no surprise that people are genuinely uncomfortable with the Weird route, because this is something that can happen in real life.

Genocide was couched more as the player personally slaughtering everyone, but you didn't really know any of them unless you were playing after a pacifist route. Moreover, Genocide had a couple really hype moments that got your blood pumping for a good fight, like Undyne the Undying. It's a climactic hero vs villain fight with you on the side of evil.

Snowgrave, meanwhile, is gaslighting an innocent girl into murdering at your command to the point she starts hallucinating and at points even berates herself for even thinking of disobeying you, as well as kind of jumping straight from the true crossing of the Moral Event Horizon to the final boss which is much less... grandiose than Genocide's big setpiece bosses.
