... claiming the Yakuza*.
Avatar Source2077 seemed like a good date to end, as it's a subtle reference to the Fallout series and still gives the players a lot of time

Lol, maybe....
I like your character's appearance by the way. Imperial Glory will be next and use similar rules, but adjusted to the more archaic setting
Like... not rushing through things a year at a time?* Because... enforced maximum post limit.
Avatar SourceI could drop the end date for Imperial Glory or alter the turn system so we'll get more moves in while still ending in 1919 (The end of World War One and the demise of traditional empires), if that is what you want.

Err... why end on a date decided by a real life event that will in all probability not happen? No end date seems better.
Hmm. Is it possible that, if someone loses out on a turn due to simply not being on, they get 6 requests on their next turn? That way, real life commitments don't automatically cause you to fall behind.
Avatar SourceThat would actually be great, if you miss a turn, you get six requests for the next turn. And we can have no end date for Imperial Glory, if that is what you wish.

"Oh, dear. The toad, the monkey, and the dog have all screwed up."Reserving the US. No end date seems like the way to go.
Seems more practical to establish an end condition—Apocalypse How of any scale, one world order, lasting world peace, exodus from Earth, etc.
Avatar SourceReserving the USSR just in case anyone missed my claim earlier. Will edit this post later.
EDIT:
It's already been reserved for me? Cheers, Paulie!
SON OF THE NINJA EDIT:
An end condition and/or things going on indefinitely suits me fine. Just one question, though - if our Turn requests are done via PM, then what do we post in the thread proper?

Locking you up on radar since '09I assume that you wait until a reply is received, to find out what's been gained/lost etc.
Avatar SourceUsing this dashing one for my character.
The graceless warrior, wielder of the edgeless blade, prophet of the old religions, writer of fluent nonsense, saviour of soul and song. After thinking about it, I will actually join this one as Japan too. Not kidding either, this◊ shall be my leader for this one.
...If the medieval one starts up at some time in the future, I promise I'll use a different nation for that one. >.>
Because I want to be a rebel (and I can't think of what my leader will look like right now), I think that I might just describe my leader's appearance in prose in my first post.
Also, a quick question directed at Paulie - when the OP states that "The following things require the following number of successful requests during turns", does that mean that we'll need to effectively re-roll for each multpile turn project of ours at the beginning of each turn? Similarly, what counts as "mundane" technological research and "major" technological research? Thanks in advance!
Locking you up on radar since '09Hmmmm... Might claim North Vietnam. Assuming that A. my luck holds, and B. I can avoid getting paddled◊ long enough to actually do something. >.<
"Yup. That tasted purple."Seeing how I'm having the leader of Japan look like... Japan, I think you don't have to worry about B at all.
@DBL:
Heh, cool. The Motherland can help you out - just remember to help us annoy the US a decade or two down the line and be good little communists, okay?
EDITED since I was a derp and misinterpreted the meaning of your post and Moerin's.

Locking you up on radar since '09Clearly you misunderstand just how good being a capitalist is. We have hamburgeeeeeeers!
Also we won't crumble down into a bunch of people in line for a loaf of bread.
And hamburgeeeeeeeers!
So my plans for Japan are pretty simple.
- Step 1: Pump all my points into researching space colonization.
- Step 2: Colonize space.
- Step 3: Rename country to the Principality of Zeon.
- Step 4: Eradicate the filthy Earthnoids who continue to pollute and ruin our mother planet. SIEG ZEON! SIEG ZEON! SIEG-
I mean, uh, um... A-ahem. >.> <.<

Are we required to start exactly as the country we use was at that point?. because then I'll have to use a fascist dictatorship for a good couple of decades... maybe less though.
The graceless warrior, wielder of the edgeless blade, prophet of the old religions, writer of fluent nonsense, saviour of soul and song.@Stratofarius:
In this timeline perhaps... but in alternate Soviet Russia, Soviets defeat you!
As for my own plans, I'm trying to find a nice niche for the USSR that doesn't fall into TESLA COILS EVERYWHERE.
EDIT:
A discussion thread might help cut down on all of our yakking here, I think.

Locking you up on radar since '09Interested in one of the following: a) one of the Koreas (probably North), b) Egypt or c) South Vietnam or the Republic of China (Taiwan). I'm strongly leaning towards North Korea ATM, but definitely have those others in consideration. Anyone have thoughts/suggestions?

War, war never changes...
1949. World War II is over and now the world is divided between the forces of the Capitalist West, the Communist East, and those unlucky to be caught in between. China has fallen to Mao Zedong's communist guerillas, Korea is divided between the democratic South and the totalitarian North, and now both the United States and the Soviet Union have nuclear weaponry. This is a time of great strife and conflict.
Okay, this is a new type of roleplay, a Grand Conquest Role-Play. Instead of individual characters being the sole focus, the focus is on factions, who make alliances, war with each other, and build themselves up in order to carve out their own niche in the dark time known as the Cold War. The game starts out in 1949 and continues throughout the 20th and 21st Century.
RULES
Okay, here's what I have come up with
FACTIONS
The factions are as follows...
