"Oh hi, Bo. Hi."

Context: It's a micro-teaser for Bo Peep appearing in Toy Story 4. Professional opinion, we'll be getting a bigger look closer to the Super Bowl.

So Disney's been making a bunch of subtle changes to Disneyland in preparation for Galaxy's Edge. They call it Project: Stardust.

[up] Honestly, I imagine a lot of those "improving crowd flow" type projects should have been done a long time ago. Things like lack of dedicated stroller parking and tight walkways, have been causing issues with bottlenecking for years, and the fact that it took them this long to address it is actually kind of surprising.

What's the best incarnation of Daisy Duck? She has the most inconsistent design and personality.

I kind of like the House of Mouse take on her....and their take on Minnie is my favourite.

[up] Yeah, that’s probably her most likable incarnation. That’s kind of a low bar though, because outside of the early shorts when they were still trying to figure out characterization, her most common incarnation is mostly based on dated stereotypes, and often comes off as unlikable or even mean spirited.

I really want to see the Ducktales Crew do a take on her, and give her a much needed revamp.

I'd also have to say House of Mouse, but only because that's the only version that I'm familiar with.

Daisy gets a new characterization in like every incarnation, but I'd say overall my favorite is probably the House of Mouse (but not the Mouseworks one, with the exception of Donald's Failed Fourth which is probably my favorite short with Daisy in it) one too. The Quack Pack Daisy is pretty dope too.

[up][up] Well, with the shorts it kind of depends..the classic ones, that is. There are quite a few in which Daisy is very supportive of Donald. But there are also a lot in which she is mostly demanding. When she is in full Donna Duck mode, she isn't really all that likeable - and I couldn't STAND her in Micky Mouse Works. Can't really comment on her in Quack Pack, the show was a little bit too 1990s for my taste, so I never watched all that much of it.

House of Mouse and I think the most recent shorts too have a good balance with Daisy being a little bit of an airhead and still somewhat a walking stereotype, but paired with a heart of gold and quite a clever head when she sets her mind on something. And I mean, just because females who are gossiping all day and often star struck are a stereotype it doesn't mean that they don't exist.

I love the moment in house of mouse where Daisy gives up a starring role when she realizes how much Minnie wanted to duet with Mickey. The song is really cute too.

Yeah, one of my favourite episodes. Though, frankly, Daisy did the song better than Minnie.

[up] I might have to watch that show now. Is it any good?

To be honest, I'm mostly familiar with the Muppets through the Muppet Christmas Carol. I've seen other stuff with them of course, but that's still my favorite.

Speaking of them, one of the celebrities on the original show was long time host of Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe review, Wally Boag. He's absolutely hilarious.

I don't. Given the show's track record, they'd probably resort to something really stupid and convoluted in an effort to subvert the audience's expectations about the character. Like, I dunno, make Daisy into Donald's imaginary girlfriend from high school, turned real via Applied Phlebotinum. Or Donald's opposite-sex counterpart from another dimension. Or an actress payed by Donald's nephews into pretending she's in love with him, only to inevitably fall in love with him for real. Or a badass master criminal who worms her way into Donald's life to steal Scrooge's fortune. Something like that.

I dunno. While the show does that for practically everything else, it tries to keep things that are Donald related more down to Earth (since he's basically the Closer to Earth foil to the entire series), so I could imagine them doing something more stable where Daisy is concerned. Her being something crazy kind of counteracts what Donald's character is all about, kind of like turning Dr. Watson's wife into a super-assassin.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did a plot where the nephews thought something was weird about Daisy, but it turned out there wasn't.

I watched the Mickey Mouse Halloween special recently and... Mickey has nephews? Mice nephews? I think that exists in the comics, but when I saw the summary I was expecting a few of Oswald's kids.

They need to do more with Oswald.

Yeah, Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse. I think they actually predate Donald's nephews.

Yeah, Morty and Ferdie originated in the comics in 1932, if I'm reading correctly. Apparently the two young mice in 1934's Mickey's Steamroller are them, as well.

[up] I was vaguely aware Mickey has nephews but I always thought of them as only being regulated to comics. It's weird seeing them in a modern cartoon.

[up]x5 That kinda what I was thinking as well.

The show tends to key in on realistic family relationships and character dynamics, and Daisy could really benefit from that. (Looking at you, Lot3C.)
