This is the exact amount of talent and skilled writing I expect from the "Unsolicited Opinions on Israel" writer.

Tbf, it was outright stated and shown that Raven did watch over Yang the entire time. Raven was even the sixth character who appeared in the show. Plus it seems that this is the period where Summer was still alive. There are a few hints in the show that during this period, Raven was still a true member of the Ozluminati but already had abandoned her family and that her leaving Ozpin and her leaving Yang were done for entirely different reasons. Personally, I believe that Raven was forced to abandon her family because of the Ozluminati and that this plays into her resentment of Ozpin. Which explains her resentment in that scene.

[up] x4 To me it seemed like Raven was waiting there, or at least watching Ruby in particular. She was sitting on that branch like the most conspicuous-looking bird ever and had the whole speech prepared from the looks of it.

[up] How can this scene be possibly set before Summer's death? Everyone is talking about her in past tense and all, not to mention Ruby can actually speak.

You should actually read the issue for yourselves instead of hacked up summaries.

Qrow goes out of his way to sandbag Ruby's question about the bird when she comes back and plays it off.

Raven watching over Yang has been a thing since the trailers.

Her being a shitty hypocrite who still wants Yang to like her is extremely consistent with who she has always been shown to be

So... What the hell did Taiyang see in Raven again?

She's pretty much female Adam.

You're saying that like she isn't a MILF version of Yang. Her Semblance removes all the stress of long-distance dating, and repeat dates are pretty inexpensive provided Raven liked the place they went to. And she can also probably kill a bear with her bare hands. Which would probably be a turn-on for most people on Remnant.

The only downside is that she's a bandit but Taiyang apparently didn't mind.

I suspect she had a sweeter side that we just haven't seen.

Having read the issue, I point people to Tharkun's post on the matter. Yang tells Ruby a bunch of tall tales about her mother, Ruby starts to tell Raven-in-bird-form how awesome her mother was, only for Raven to take exception to that. It looks like Yang treating Summer like a perfect mother was a berserk button for her.

@The Lovecraftian: Yang never saw Raven at that point in time, Ruby didn't exactly do a good job of explaining what had happened, and Yang was maybe five at most at that time. It'd be a bit weird if she remembered this event she didn't witness (plus science as proven you're more likely to forget negative memories than positive ones).

Summer's only in flashbacks briefly, but in the one combat like scene it looks like she's lunging at a Beowolf about to punch it which sounds pretty badass. There was also a time where she got conned by a beggar and robbed blind and had to be bailed out by Raven, and she also volunteered at soup kitchens. Also more depressed Ruby in this comic, which I think is maybe as many times as we saw depressed Ruby in volumes 4-6.

[up][up][up] What'd Blake see in Adam? Remember, we're used to the late thirties/early forties versions, but for all we know, they were still in school when Yang was born.

My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I think Taiyang and Raven was just teen love or the result of a one night stand, Raven got pregnant with Yang out of wedlock, and without thinking things through they got married. Taiyang was legitimately in love, and whether or not Raven loved himnote  she felt her duty to the Branwen tribe came first, and just ran off.
Cause really, she and Qrow enrolled into Beacon just to learn how to kill Huntsmen so they could aid the Tribe. Then they got involved in the Ozluminati, and Raven got involved with Tai. She more than likely had no intention of staying after graduating, and only did so because of getting pregnant. Then of course you have her frustration with Ozpin implying she didn't agree with his method of keeping people in the dark, and by that point Qrow had gone native and decided to ditch the Tribe. So she probably thought she'd go native if she stayed with Tai and Yang, and felt her duty to the Tribe came first, so she flew off.

Honestly, if the events of this comic aren't referenced in series, I think I'll subject it to Fanon Discontinuity. Cause so far it seems riddled with not only continuity errors, but also Out-of-Character Moment aplenty. Like why the hell would Raven even start squawking at them anyway? And somehow, according to Qrow, Raven actually helped Summer out a lot, and yet right beforehand she was badmouthing Summer to high heaven. And considering Qrow had just said he hates lying since "A Lie is a Lie", it would be random for him to be lying too. So why the sudden change from love to hate?

I will guess Raven does care for him in a way, maybe because he stick around and learn to take their personality(this kind of people cling because of it), until it become to much, in raven case she chose the tribe over family.

I mean someone ask what blake saw in adam, a good question is what Adam saw in her too.

[up][up][up][up][up] Considering the only other mother Yang knew just straight up left her, I'm very unimpressed with Raven blowing a gasket. Hypocrisy is her usual mode of operation, as we've since seen.

[up]Except Qrow's the only one in the Ozluminati who didn't outright lie to people and say everything was fine. Hell, one of the reasons why he picked a fight with Winter and the Atlesian Knights was because he got pissed about Ironwood going behind Ozpin's back, and instead of letting people believe Atlas was protecting everyone, he openly denounced Atlas and Ironwood. True he was drunk off his ass at the time, but he's always drunk so it doesn't really make a difference.

Plus, he never outright lied to RNJR, or even told them Half-Truths. He told them everything he knew to the best of his ability, and told them what Ozpin told him. He didn't spread the lies Ozpin made, since he was often in the field on his own, and he had no reason to interact with anyone. Even when Ruby and Yang were gloating about taking down Torchwick, he pretty much told them that Torchwick was low on the Totem Pole, and that Vagueness Is Coming.

So far, Qrow can be said to be the only one who hasn't lied to them.

[up] What about when he tried to deflect that he was using Ruby as bait or outright said he had nothing else to say when Raven swooped in?

Shaoken Since: Jan, 2001
#61218: Sep 12th 2019 at 12:43:45 PM

Neither were lies. He didn't use Ruby as bait, he stayed away so his semblance didn't hurt them. And I don't see what your second point Is, that after a long conversation of dropping many secrets and truths he lied because he didn't keep offering up more unprompted revelations? Because he didn't say he had no more secrets, he said he didn't have anything more to say thay night, which is an admission that there was more to tell.

Has anyone talked about Rooster Teeth laying off 13% of their staff?

Looks like it’s more consolidation in the face of the Warner Media merger and its mass restructuring.

That news is literally only four hours old.

I imagine the 3D animation teams will be fine as they are responsible for two two big hits out of the company.

The article says that almost every part of the company was hit bar event staff.

I'd actually be more worried for the animation staff than before considering the previous workplace allegations. Having even one less body will hurt.

It's also dead, and if animators or writers on RWBY were laid of that is relevant here.

Edit: Not part of the layoffs, but Gray has just revealed that he parted ways with RT some time ago.

Wait. Gray? As in Gray G. Haddock? The Head of Animation? Why'd he leave?

Also, unless he agrees to still do voice work for them, I'm guessing Locus, Flashback!Roman, and Leon are gonna either need new voices or be killed off. Or in Roman's case, never return in flashbacks.

Hell, Gray created gen:Lock, so what does this mean for that if the creator has left the company?
