[up] Illia felt kind of rushed, but not unbelievable given she was one of Blakes friends and a former comrade in the White Fang. Blake herself making up with Weiss so easily was definitely rushed, and it feels like most of the initial character arcs were resolved way too quickly, especially for Ruby and Weiss. Ruby started off as shy, meek, and kinda aspie-ish and that kind of just vanished midway through volume 2. Weiss meanwhile started off as abrasive, stuck up, and somewhat bigoted (more or less your standard Alpha Bitch) until abruptly turning nice at the end of volume 1.

Hi. I was wondering about something.

The SDC is Remnant's largest Dust supplier, and is virtually THE place to buy Dust on the planet. It also runs on a monopoly, and its Dust products are used for ammo, fuel for cars and airships, power grids, heating, and so on.

Now, let's say someone is buying Dust. Their Lien ultimately goes to the SDC, which is used to finance their operation, built off the backs of essentially slave labor from their Faunus workers in the quarries. Since this Lien is now blood money, and that the overwhelming majority of people today buy Dust from the SDC, Adam's loathing of the human race suddenly makes more sense because they are part of the system that props up slavery in al but name. Even if they were informed, the negativity would affect the world, given the SDC's too-big-to fail status as a corporation.

If this is true, does this logic go in the Fridge or WMG sections?

[up] I think it could be added to the Fridge Brilliance section under some form. It is certainly too solid to be a WMG, as stating that Adam hates humanity because of being maimed by the SDC isn't any kind of stretch.

Apathy is Death. Worse than Death, because at least a rotting corpse feeds beasts and insects.

Greeting from page 2318.

Forgot this show existed for a bit and rewatched the entire Volume. Stream-of-consciousness, a-go!

    V6; E1: Argus Limit

• So did Ruby transform Weiss into a white cone of petals or was that just a visual effect?
• When Adam is mulling things over he says "the Belladonna girl" he says it so informally, like they don't have history.
• There is a location listed on that train terminal as "Wind Path."
• Seeing Ruby so peppy while waiting for the train is just... horrible knowing how serious things get in the next few episodes.
• Qrow is so alpha at this point in the story, shoving off those wannabe huntsmen. Totally betrays how much his alcoholism's going to kick in later.
• Weiss says they're "waiting on Blake" like this is a thing we've actually seen her do several times throughout the series.
• I really like how we transition from the Haven arc here. Volume 5 might not be the most admired, but there's something about transitioning from one part of the story to another.
• How did Neptune get to... Haven? Didn't Sun come here specifically to help Blake on his own?
• I have a feeling that when Sun says "[Blake] hasn't seen the last of [him," I feel like this is the last time she's going to see him.
• They throw characters everywhere this Volume - Maria just strolling through the hallway like that, Blake seeing Adam on the train.
• Blake may be the worst liar I've ever seen.
• Ruby and Weiss sliding into frame <3
• How exactly did anybody determine that Qrow's Semblance was bad luck? I mean, some people are just unlucky. Physical Semblances you can diagnose sure, but how could one say that Qrow was just pure bad luck?
• These chimera Grimm got me thinking... that thing Oobleck said in Volume 2 about some Grimm being survivors, old enough to be more tactical in battle? Is that even relevant anymore what with Salem being in control of the Grimm?
• I thought Aura protected people from conventional harm? That huntsman whose arm got smashed... was he out of Aura? Or is it that Aura isn't a perfect forcefield and that you're still susceptible to fall damage/impacts?
• How did Adam disappear from the end of that train car after Blake cut it... right, he's a ninja.
• So... Ren has the single most useful Semblance in the entire cast, doesn't he.
• Team RWBY had that team attack down pat. And so did Ruby and Qrow, jesus. I mean, one inch and I'm pretty sure they would have sliced through one another killing that giant griffon.
• Why did Maria tag along with them? I guess Nora missed her when she was ushering passengers to the front of the train?
• Yup. Volume 6's intro is still the best one.
• "The lightning doesn't take it back from anyone." Still have no idea what line's referring to.
• We're ~riiiiis-ing like the moooooooo-ahhhhhhhhhn! Wananana-nana-nananah! Shut up. It's a catchy song and you're going to read this a lot.

    V6; E2: Uncovered

• This intro! Is fire!
• Oh, guess I know why the moon is broken now.
• Dang. I really thought that the mystery woman was supposed to be Neo. I'm just happy she's back though.
• We're ~riiiiii-zen like the mooooooo-aaaahhhn! Oh I'm going to annoy the crap out of my friends when I force them to watch this.
• Oh, Cinder falling through water. This is the end. Hold your breath and cooooouuuunt to ten.
• Wait, so Maidens are allergic to Silver Eyes? Is that why Cinder got so jacked up by Ruby, or was it because of her Grimm DNA? Wouldn't only the arm have been affected? If Maidens can be harmed by silver eyes... wonder who wrote those rules.
• Can't wait to see that poor woman Cinder murdered on RWBY Chibi.
• Holy naked blue goddess Batman. This is the first "Jin" in existence to not grant any wishes.
• You know - Cinder killed that woman without getting any blood on her clothes. Or ash for that matter. Now I could rationally assume she just cleaned those clothes so as not to arouse suspicion. But I'm far more amused of thinking about how Cinder managed to vaporize this woman or otherwise kill her without getting any blood or noticeable ash on her clothes.
• Did Cinder have a prior acquaintance with Little Miss Malachite? She sure found her fast.
• Cinder kept pictures of Teams RWBY and JNPR on her scroll. Which is still functioning after she got electrocuted. And frozen solid. And fell into a chasm at the bottom of which was a pool of water.'
• Little Miss Malachite threatens Cinder by pointing out her bar full of spider-tattooed henchmen... but her metaphor involved making spiders work for her. The connection's clear but... who uses spiders like that? How do you make a spider "work for you?"
• The God of Light made a busty, naked, blue woman as an avatar for divine knowledge. Alright then.
• Despite Weiss, Yang, and Blake having Qrow effectively at gunpoint, Ozpin managed to slip by them and almost grab Ruby.
• I wonder how many times somebody has asked Jin a question she's had to give a complex visual display combined with a history lesson just to explain. I mean all Ruby asked was to know what Ozpin was hiding from them. She wasn't being specific and pretty much learned his whole life's story. If they'd asked Jin "what is Jaune hiding from us" would she have orated his entire life from infancy? Yes, clearly Ozpin has more to hide, but still. Jin went above and beyond for that question.

    V6; E3: The Lost Fable

• I love the episode summaries. "What's your favorite fairy tale?"
• I wonder if Cinder or any of her gang know Salem's side of this story?
• I wonder if any of the members of Team RWBY were agnostic prior to this creation myth... becoming not just a myth.
• Oh god that God of Darkness... the way it moves is just... ew... it's like a broken skeleton trapped in gelatin that's been set aflame and forced to walk around like a person.
• Ozma looked so freaked out when GOD brought him back to life. Is the after-life that horrifying?
• I like how the GOD was actually amenable to GOL after the latter explained what Salem had done.
• Thanos could learn a thing or two from the GOD.
• Seriously when and how did mankind return from the GOL wiping them literally off the face of Remnant? The GOL mentions that mankind will eventually return as a fraction of what it once was.
• So Ozma seems to share voice actors with Oscar. Or is this just Ozpin's VA doing three different voices?
• "Whatever we like." Huh. I missed that the first time Ozma said that to her.
• You know... if Ozma had gone along with Salem's plans and just made that paradise... maybe that would have appeased the GOL and GOD? I mean people are still fighting wars in Salem and Ozma's name but, humans were shown dying in that tower Salem was originally trapped in. It doesn't seem like the world was perfect even with the GOL and GOD present. GOL just wanted unity and harmony and that's sort of what Salem was going for, just not in a particularly humanitarian way.
• The thing I love about this fight between Ozma and Salem is Weiss's reaction. Yeah Weiss, you thought you had family issues.
• If Ozpin started his Ozluminati with Jin's slideshow presentation he'd probably have less trouble recruiting people and keeping them on.

• I love how blunt this episode's title is.
• So all of this god-stuff really puts all of the other subplots in this show under the microscope. I mean. Do we care about Faunus rights and Weiss's family problems when the literal makers of this world are threatening to come back and blow everything up if mankind hasn't reached a 100% fresh rating? It's sort of like... well I guess in RWBY's case this would technically be a "first world problem," but still.
• Riiiising like the mooooooo-aaaahn! Wananananana-nanananah!
• Qrow hit Ozpin so hard that he went straight into a tree. Jesus.
• So uh... was Raven right? Did Ozpin show her Jin's slideshow before Qrow? It kind of feels like Raven was right.
• So I remember young!Maria looking pretty tall... she lost a couple inches in her old age, didn't she.
• They're all taking the fact that their entire world was created by two glowing, magical dragons who abandoned the planet... extremely well.
• Oh I just know Ruby and Oscar are going to be a thing down the line.
• I've got to know if Salem just spends her time in her throne room watching Godtube on her crystal ball, or if she actually has any hobbies.
• Emerald's cleavage is just fantastic this Volume.
• Tyrian is just extra creepy this Volume.
• Salem just flipped a goddamned table in Tyrian's direction. XD
• Hazel just went from the biggest badass in this group to being held down like a dog.
• I feel bad for whatever glassmaker is going to have to fix Salem's throne room.

• Staaaaay cloooosee, mooove faaaaast... the daaark-ness can-not laaast~
• Truuuuust-the waaaaay-we're maaaaaade~
• Hey, Little Miss Malachite's back. And it only took her a week to get the information Cinder needed, just like promised!
• Ding ding-ding! Neo is meltin the competition! Oh god I haven't watched this fight in like a month. It's so good.
• A single life, a single friend, but you maaaade-thaaaat-eeeeend!~
• 3:17 that bit where they're on the counter, Neo starts batting the china at Cinder, Cinder catches a bowl right in front of her family, they leap away, and Cinder rebounds off the damned ceiling to Falcon Pawnch Neo uuuuuoooooh so cool!
• Though, hah-hah, I have to ask how much of this fight actually happened. Neo's clothes are still perfect in the bar. I thought that was supposed to represent the illusion. The moment she drops the illusion her pants and jacket are scuffed, meaning that's the real one. Plus, you know, the hat.
• That look Neo gives Cinder is just so... pitiful. Even the look that Cinder gives back says a lot.
• Just noticed that Neo isn't wearing a bra. Hrh-hrm. Moving on.
• I love how Neo can actually match and overwhelm Cinder in combat before the magic powers come into play.
• I just noticed Neo's little gesture when Cinder asks to have a talk with her. Cute.
• As it turns out Weiss - wearing a dress, leggings, and a scarf isn't great winter wear. Still don't get how Ruby just isn't cold.
• This episode's so low-key. I can't call it a Bottle Episode, but it's easy to digest after 2-3 episodes of a major fan favorite character RETURNING TO THE WRESTLING RING and finding out that DRAGONS CREATED MANKIND.
• Blake, no white-knighting. Blake, no white-knighting. Blake, no white-knighting.
• Soooo much easier to see everybody's subconscious fears and irritability flaring up in hindsight.
• Shrimp-flavored beans? Who makes those? Who thought that was a good idea?
• I'm kind of surprised Ruby didn't replace or try to fix up her cloak in all of this time. Especially with them going into a colder climate.
• I've really come to appreciate Jessica Nigri as a voice actor in these three to four seasons. At first it felt like she was just a name to throw on in order to attract certain nerd circles. Now she feels like an intrinsic part of this show.

    V6; E 5 - Alone in the Woods

• "As darkness falls on Brunswick Farms and the snow continues to fall, Team RWBY's morale is at an all-time low. The only thing worse than being stranded, alone in the woods... is realizing you're not alone at all."
• "The lightning doesn't take it back from aaaaany-one~" what does that mean?'
• We're riiiiii-zin like the mooooooooo-uuuun! Nananana-wananana-nahanahah!
• Everybody looks so depressed.
• It's some combination of optimism and experience that seems to beat this new type of Grimm. Oscar and Maria seem the least affected though. I guess Oscar does seem more fatigued but Maria... isn't any different really?
• Jeez, I'm getting tired and moody just watching this episode. Excuse me I'm going to go check my basement real quick. -grabs a bat-
• Oh I missed the scene of Blake hallucinating Adam? Darn.
• You know... Yang's not wrong. Burying the relics or throwing them into a chasm is probably smarter than locking them away in a vault in some other dimension inside giant towers that Salem is sure to attack.
• But wait, didn't a giant Grimm dragon come out of one of those towers? How did that get there? Great now I need to go rewatch Volume 3.
• That shot of Weiss, Blake, and Yang staring at Ruby, at 7:43, is so damned creepy. Reminds me of the Elizabeths staring back at Booker at the end of Bioshock Infinite. Seriously, check it. Creepy.
• actual show dialogue
• Ruby: I'm not leaving without the lamp!
• Blake: sigh I'll go down with you.
• Weiss: immediately after We'll go down together.
• c_c
• I respect Qrow's dedication to the devil's drink and his ability to get completely crocked in the time it took for Team RWBY to climb down into a sewer and fight their way back to the surface.
• actual show dialogue
• Ruby: Ugh, where is it.
• Blake: Turn off your lights and look for the glow.
• c_c
• Considering Team RWBY never seems to run out of ammunition, firing a few warning shots down the long, dark, and spooky sewer might have been smart.
• Man those Grimm are creepy. Some dude actually went and captured these things and put them down here? Wow.
• It just occurred to me that this is yet another way to defeat Yang without needing to out-style her like Neo did. Sound-based attacks.
• Wow. Out of everybody Blake was the first to just completely give up.
• I get the feeling that Ruby's going to end up losing one of her eyes down the line to make the Silver Eyes ability less OP. All of those fanart RWBY AU's where she's got an eyepatch suddenly make sense.
• Qrow Branwen, man among men, drunkard among drunkards.
• In the same amount of time it took for Qrow to get liquored up Oscar repaired a wagon wheel.
• The Apathy - wasn't there a thing in Volume 2 about how no one had captured any Grimm alive, or at least not for long. Bartleby must have had quite the technique.
• So Maria just tossed the last and only record of what happened in that town into the snow, never to be found again. So when some colonist or traders come through the bodies are going to be... hard to explain. Kind of a dick move Maria.

    V6; E 7 - The Grim Reaper

• I skipped the intro... well, to the part where Adam stands in front of the burning White Fang symbol.
• rising like the moooooooon~
• I don't know what you call this exactly - cinematrography? Timing Cinder's spinning that knife with the "cuts" between camera angles is cool.
• Cinder just melted a knife in her hand and didn't even react.
• Got to get back. Back to the past. Maria Calvera. Wa-chow. Gotta get back. Back to the past.
• That is the biggest Nevermore we've seen in quite a while.
• Um. Ok. Maria's the most badass fighter we've seen in this show.
• So... are Maria's weapons part of her Semblance... or did magnetic-gravity-defying weapons just fall out of style throughout the years?
• So how did Maria make her way off of that mountain after having her eyes sliced apart?
• There's motorcycle garages outside of the city. That's funny.
• Ruby and Jaune have no romantic chemistry whatsoever. But their completely platonic friendship brings tears to my eyes. The brother-sister/best friend dynamic works for them.
• The design of this city is... "Tryst in the Mist." LOL WHAT. What kind of movie is this?
• You know I don't know why but... literally the moment Jaune's sister showed up and I saw the kid I had a feeling this was a same-sex couple. I have no idea how I made that guess. The camera had moved away from her, and moments before the wife walked in I just thought "wonder if this is that lesbian couple CRWBY was on about."
• Oh god Jaune really does have like 7 sisters. How on earth do you have that many kids? How do you survive that many siblings?
• are we ever going to find out how Jaune snuck into Beacon this is like the best time for that story...
• Are those... grilled ham/lettuce/tomato sandwiches? They've got those little grill markings on top but... who grills ham, lettuce, and tomatoes? Or is it just the type of bread? It looks like regular white/rye bread.
• Good note to end this episode on. What type of sandwiches were those!? I refuse to watch another episode until I find the answer!

    V6;E 8 - Dead End

• Riiisng like the mooooooooon~
• Oh god, comic relief bodyguards who move and shout in unison. This is actually happening.
• Is this supposed to be the RWBY equivalent of Canada?
• The delivery on Maria's "maybe she's dead" knocked me out of my chair.
• Ruby's putting point after point into her Speech Skill this season.
• Ugh... Carolyn and those guards... just stark reminders that this show is about as anime as it gets. Nora and Ruby's eccentricity gets a pass. These characters don't.
• Team JNPR isn't taking the news that their world was created by dragons well at all. I wonder why that is. I mean, that's a pretty awesome origin story.
• I figured the orange ring in Oscar's eyes was the visual cue that Ozpin was present. Shame that doesn't seem to be the case here, I was like, oh snap Ozpin's listening in!
• Maria's comment about having to explain what she meant about Ruby not giving herself enough credit not being a compliment, and then not wanting to explain it to Ruby. Explain it to me.
• Ruby learning about her Silver Eye Powers in a garden full of butterflies. Hmph.
• Ah, reflexes. That explains everything Maria's done so far.
• I can hear a bit of Ruby's Red Like Roses theme during the talk with Maria. Neat. I love how they remix certain songs here and in Chibi.
• So... Maria just learned about the GOL and the GOD. Funny how she adapts her lesson to Ruby and tailors it with that information.
• Again with Cinder being affected by the Silver Eyes - only her arm is Grimm, so what was the deal with her eye and face getting burnt?
• And Oscar's gone.

    V6;E 9 - Lost

• Some clarity on Mercury and Emerald's motivations is nice
• I wonder if Torchwick had any knowledge of Salem. He seemed to know a little more than he let on back when he was kicking Ruby around Ironwood's airship.
• Mercury is like a... villainous Rock Lee...
• Love how the power dynamics changed here - Mercury snapping at Emerald, Tyrian antagonizing Mercury, and finally Watts reigning in Tyrian
• Oh right - we're in Pyrrha's home...town, country, land? At last a scene I've waited for annnnd... kind of underwhelming. Touching, but not the full exploration of Pyrrha's background that I'd hoped for. And I feel like we're not going to see much more than this.
• Also, I'm of the mind that Pyrrha's mom might be a... ghost? Jaune looked away for like two seconds and she was gone.
• [tup] Casey Williams' lovely voice
• Jesus of all the places Jaune and the crew could wind up
• Ren and Nora haven't had much to say about Pyrrha's death come to think of it.
• Well if Cinder hadn't disintegrated her maybe Pyrrha's body could have been tossed into the GOL's magic waterpool. Maybe?
• Qrow is like the chillest drunk ever - short of snapping when Ruby dragged him out of that house he's always just chilling, sleeping, or stumbling
• Oscar's got a new coat
• Legit everybody glomped him at the same time
• Just starting to realize how screwed up Oscar's situation is. Talk about identity theft.
• XD of course Jaune would be the one to spontaneously come up with the idea of committing a crime
• Ruby's Growing the Beard as the main character, hmm
• Ahhhh... a sad Pyrrha song to close the episode... q_q I need to hear the badass intro again.

• I am just so underwhelmed by Gen:Lock. I mean, I was underwhelmed when RWBY got its first reveal at the tail end of a Red vs Blue season and look at where am I now. Still.
• The lightning doesn't take it back from anyoooone~ The wheel of life something something saaaay-yeaaaah-ha!~
• And we'll get the dreeeaam together someday soooooon~ we're riiiising like the moooooo-nah!
• Wait so... Jaune's sister's wife is... apparently useful to this operation? Some kind of technical expert? I feel like this wasn't established prior to it happening.
• Jaune trying to be a cool, stoic leader was funny.
• Those bodyguards were starting to grow on me. Then Weiss beat them up and tied them to a parachute.
• Ruby's Speech Skill = 99
• Oh Atlas has a giant robot.
• ...of course they have a giant robot. All that money and time put into making Penny but they've had giant robots all along.
• Adam's back.
• As I said once before - Adam just boomeranged his sword off of Blake's face. That is simultaneously the douchiest, most awesome thing I have seen on this show.
• I can't wait to see how this conflict resolves.

• ...so just what is this title referencing? I'm guessing it's Nora saying that Carolyn's base looks like a boot?
• 2:45 The look Ruby gives Carolyn after sniping her missle out of the air has so much attitude.
• "He's not the only one who can grab a bird's eye view." What happened to you Qrow? I used to respect you.
• Forgive me. I need to watch this fight sequence.
• ...
• ...
• ...
• ...
• They blended some of the music here. I could hear a bit of "Bad Luck Ch ARM" WHEN Qrow landed on the mech. Mirror Mirror lyrics when Weiss and Ruby were leaping across icicles.
• I could not hear what Nora was saying when she first started shooting at the giant mech.
• Why would Carolyn not have these hard light shields activated prior to starting this fight?
• Well if Weiss hadn't caught Ruby she'd have to swim for it I guess. Didn't seem like she was particularly high up that the fall would have killed her.
• Did Nora just call Ren "her man?"
• Welp. Adam's done. I still think they railroaded this character into creepy, abusive, irredeemable stalker boyfriend, but at least his fighting style is cool.
• Yang just owned him with that motorcycle. RIP Bumblebee, RIP Adam's spine. Well I guess that died back in Volume 5
• Wow, so that's what's under Adam's mask. That's... f-cked up.
• Ah, I guess we're getting one more episode out of Adam. But he's dead next episode I'm sure of it.
• This is the first time there's been noticeable clothing damage in the middle of a fight before.
• That dramatic hand-holding...
• That song in the credits/during the giant robot fight. Fire.

    V6;E 12 - Seeing Red

• Where do I remember that title from... I swear there's a video game or an anime with a character whose special move was called "Seeing Red"
• Actually, I think somebody on the RWBY Wiki used that term to describe Adam's Semblance at one point. Damn, this is going to bother me.
• Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiising-like-the-mooooooon!
• Why is Ruby struggling with... oh nevermind, she's back on the cliff.
• I was... kind of lost with how the robot caught the missile and flung it back.
• Well that plan went south fast.
• Look at the pair on Ruby. Speech Skill 100.
• Wait, bigger people than Carolyn? Nobody they've fought before has shown up in a giant robot with a death ray and missiles. What is Ruby referring to?
• Geez, for a split-second I thought Carolyn was going to listen. And now she's about to blast a little girl to smithereens.
• This robot reminds me of the Santa Death Parade from No More Heroes Desperate Struggle.
• Wait, so why was Ruby almost KO'd? She escaped the cannon before the Dust went off it looked like. I guess not?
• Rooster Teeth really listened to all that criticism about Ruby not being a good protagonist, huh. Jesus.
• The sexual tension in this fight between Yang, Adam, and Blake is... like I was joking before but it's actually starting to feel palpable. "What does she even see in you!?" is not something you shout angrily to someone your ex-partner is perfectly platonic with while trying to kill them both.
• So we've had two villains thus far who just... refuse to Heel–Face Turn.
• Ok I don't think Adam's coming back, but, I swear Rooster Teeth just cannot resist throwing villains off of cliffs. I don't know how to feel about that.
• Also gaaaawd-damn. I was not expecting all of that blood. Samurai Jack Season Five all up in here.
• Oh my god GRIMM-ZILLA. Right when the giant robot was destroyed.
• NICE JOB HEROES.
• So, what's the pot at on Adam actually being dead? I'd like some of that action.

    V6; E 13 - Our Way

• It seems like the amount of characters with active roles and problems is outweighed by the significance of Salem being the greater threat. And I can't see that plot going for more than 3-5 seasons without losing some intensity, unless a significant enough new cog gets thrown into the wheel like some unseen danger, a major character death, or the dramatic reveal that not all is as it seems. We can't be scared of Salem's immortal, curvy self and unknowable black magic forever.
• Why do Cinder and Neo look sexier now?
• They're so evil together it's perfect
• Also, for some reason, I'd kind of thought that Cinder would go back and murder Little Miss Malachite for that crap she pulled.
• The Leviathan, a giant sea monster... breathes fire...
• Kind of a cool-down after all of the intense battles that led up to this point. Not much to say here. Ozpin's around. Ruby did crazy stuff. Qrow finally put down the bottle. I can't tell what Yang and Blake's relationship status is right now. Carolyn just broke character and let everyone go. The solution to the Leviathan wasn't what I expected. Using the lamp to pause reality was clever and funny.
• For a split-second I thought Atlas was going to be on fire the way they approached it, but... it's just the fleet standing by. Interesting.
• I normally love pianos but I just can't seem to focus on this ending song. The other ones had me pumped but this one's kind of tame. Eh, I'll need to listen to it a few more times.
• The Stinger is just Salem gearing up for war. Ok.
• I guess we're not following up with Raven and Taiyang, hmm.

    Awards

• Most quotable material: Maria "Maybe she's dead" Calavera with her gallows humor
• Best new character: Maria
• Most growth: Holy sh-t I can't believe I'm saying this but it's Ruby
• Best fighter: It's a toss-up between Maria and Ruby because jesus christ did she take the lead against that robot
• Best fight sequence: It's a toss-up between Ruby fighting the robot, Adam fighting Blake and Yang, and Maria fighting Tick-Tock and the Nevermore.
• Most effective party member: Toss-up between Yang and Ruby. Yang for gut-punching Adam and literally punching Blake's weapons into the right positions to take down Grimm. Ruby for being kickass and take-charge in general.
• Best party member: Maria; normally I'd say Nora but her comic relief got smothered by the bodyguards, Maria, and even RWBY at points
• Worst party member: I'm finally removing Blake from her permanent place here because Qrow just sucked this Volume. I know it was necessary character development but, still, and Blake actually contribut... Blake contri... but... she... hrh-hrm. Blake helped.
• Biggest surprise: Ruby using the Relic at the last second.
• Best song: Oh you already know. Though the song from the fight with the robot was pretty lit.
• Best moment: Adam boomerang-ing his sword off of Blake's face. I chuckle even as I type that. Either that or Tyrian getting bulldozed when Salem threw the table.

tl,dr: I enjoyed this.

• Ruby feels like the main character now
• Blake's... ok.
• Yang punched all the things and it was awesome.
• Oh no, Adam got Torchwick'd! Killed before his time!
• Maria is the best cranky old person character and I love her.
• Neo and Cinder are deliciously evil.
• That mech fight, yo.
• I love the theme song.

Was there ever a consensus on Team RWBY/JNR thinking that Qrow and Raven turning into birds is crazy because "there's no such thing as magic"?

I remember Nora seeing Raven shapeshift and saying "So they really are magic!" while looking all confused and I'm just baffled by it.

After seeing everything she and her teammates can do, I think magic would be extremely easy to accept. If someone told her that their Semblance was being able to turn into a bird she wouldn't be anywhere near as shocked. Yet suddenly it is all different because they use the word magic?

[up]I think this has come up before on this forum and I think there a trope for it but I forget what it's call but for Team RWBY/JNR magic is something they only know from a fairy tails story's they were told to as kids and believe to be fake.

We also don't know what the power limit on Semblance is so far I don't think we seen anyone that can transform with one.

[up] The only explanation I have for that weird attitude the heroes express is that semblances follow some strict law of conservation of mass, therefore turning into birds should be impossible. Otherwise, they are just being selectively sceptical.

Apathy is Death. Worse than Death, because at least a rotting corpse feeds beasts and insects.

Semblances also require aura to use, whilst magic doesn't. In general it appears that semblances all fit into a system whilst magic is a lot bigger.

[up][up] Might be conservation of energy; unleashing the power of dust consumes the crystal in the process and using a semblance costs aura, but magic seemingly pulls power from nowhere, so from the heroes perspective the idea of magic as the setting defines it is like a perpetual motion machine.

i think the description for Adam's semblance is wrong, i think it's far more likely can channel his semblance into any object he holds.

he just preferred using the sword or didn't realize it, since i can't see the semblance differentiating between what is and isn't a weapon. that means he could use his semblance on his sheath even if he lost his sword

this would also highlight how Yang grew while he didn't

now to jump back to page 1522 and continue reading from there

because he hasn't figured out that he can channel his semblance into any object he holds, because he has always used the sword, given his aggressive personality and his anger issues. seems far more likely than a sentient semblance

also, it's been confirmed that Adam's role in regards to the Beauty and The Beast symbolism is Gaston

his personality certainly matches Gaston, just without any of the comedy

and just like the Beast, Yang was the one that got over her anger issues

Y'know, with the benefit of hindsight, I feel that making Adam a one-track pony with Moonslice was a waste. I get that he may be most comfortable using Moonslice, but the idea of a hypothetical Moonshot or other uses of his Semblance could have added a degree of versatility to his fighting style. For f-cks sakes he still had Blush one him. He still had a weapon even after Yang tossed Wilt off a cliff.

Speaking of hindsight, one of RWBY's defining... features is that the majority of the weapons have dual utility as melee weapons and ranged weapons. And yet the ranged feature almost always seems suffer a Worf Barrage type a issue (that is, when they don't miss). When was the last time anyone's gun/ranged weapon that isn't Crescent Rose or Ember Celica did ANY notable damage? Magnhild is the biggest offender. It's a grenade launcher yet it's firepower hasn't done shit as far as I can recall. I probably missed a few things something cos I remember it not doing any notable damage to the Deathstalker, Nuckelavee or the Cordovin's mech. Maybe it killed a few Manticores?

What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.

[up][up]The problem with that comparation is it clash with is backstory: Gaston is a entitled men who run is personality with being wealthy and sort of superficial charm as him being strong.

Adam have a brand of is face, really work is way to ranks(and was used by a woman for political reasons), and the best you can compare to him is being manipulative.

[up]Kinda, there some issues: moonslice varies for destroying a robot with one hit, to slicing yang hand with just a couple of shot to delivering a huge blow who just....scratch her hand...what?.

Or Adam delivring other good moves like launching his sword or those weird sword things to confuse yang, which is clear monty idea that dosent mesh well with who things are.

both Gaston and Adam strikes me as incels, Adam is just far more ruthless and dangerous

Which is a issue, incels in general are melodramatic of cataphrozing over their inhability to get laid or having a relationship, in part is shit because much of them arent that ugly, Adam does have a huge grunge against humans for what SCD did to him and that part is ignore.

I dont know, I find the conection very lacking in much regard.

Wouldn't that rule out Gaston since I don't think he has much trouble getting dates. The only female uninterested in him was Belle.

I feel like its weird to use modern terms for classic disney movies ._.

Anywaaay, just to note since it got mentioned, redemption basically just means character continually tries to atone for their sins, not that they actually get absolved of any wrong doing they did. Like character is redeemed if they try to fix what they did for rest of their lives even if they don't ultimately succeed.

By that definition, every character COULD be redeemed but only if they wanted it. In practice that isn't the case since some characters would never do that :P

also, it's been confirmed that Adam's role in regards to the Beauty and The Beast symbolism is Gaston

...so then who's the Beast in this story?

It is, people do it anyway. >.<

Legit nobody has wanted it so far and that bugs me. Other then maybe Emerald.
