EA will have another studio called "The Sims Studio" working on future Sims games.
Isn't there already an internal studio called "The Sims Studio"?
I hope you get tiny bits of eggshell in all your omelettes for the rest of your life!Sort of good news. It turns out it was just an office in Salt Lake City, not the whole thing. There's a link in the main thread for the source.
Still sucks for them, though.
please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now?Wonder if Will Wright is still doing Stupid Fun Games.
Not a studio, but Inafune's Kaio: King of Pirates was canceled.

Frank Gibeau leaving EA. He'd been with them for over 20 years.
This is a few weeks old, but remember Spark Unlimited? Developer of such, uh, "quality" titles as Legendary, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Lost Planet 3 (which, by most accounts, wasn't so great but had amazing writing) and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z? Better start pouring out those 40's...
I hope you get tiny bits of eggshell in all your omelettes for the rest of your life!Today is a sad day - Tim Borrelli confirmed that 5th Cell is closed.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987It's not closed, but they suffered 45 layoffs after WB canceled a Scribblenauts game.

The Protomen enhanced my life. Two Tribes (makers of Toki Tori and its sequel, and EDGE, among others) will be closing its doors later in the year following the release of its final game, RIVE.

Well, Two Tribes at least sounds they're going to think and change for their future rather than suffering under their misfortune.
Evolution Studios, developers of Driveclub, Motorstorm and World Rally Championship, are no more.
Cortex should take a 12-step plan off a 10-step pierUnited Front, makes of Sleeping Dogs, just closed.
And of Mod Nation Racers, consarn it
MNR is an artifact of the user-generated content frenzy era that is kept on life support due to community efforts. I know this from experience, having played this game between 2011-2012, for 1.5 years.
Runic Games (Torchlight, Torchlight II, Hob) shuts down.
A sudden and dramatic fall from grace bursting of the bubble: reports have surfaced that Telltale Games has laid off most of its workforce, and may be filing for bankruptcy. An anonymous source has stated that some of its crew will remain to finish the final season of The Walking Dead, but its other projects in development (The Wolf Among Us season 2, Stranger Things) are likely cancelled.

Not so sudden as you say.
The studio got sued by its co-founder for unpaid royalties and salaries.
The studio also had to fight allegation of a toxic, overworked atmosphere and general mismanagement. they also had layoffs last November.
There's also been some backlash for their continued use of their engine which is often pointed as both prone to causing performance issues, and limiting their creativity.

So much for Batman.
Mileena MadnessRE: Telltale Games going kaput:
'Member when Telltale Games did funny point-and-click adventure games like Sam & Max, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, Tales of Monkey Island, and Hector: Badge of Carnage because they used to do point-and-click games at LucasArts? Or how they had others like Puzzle Agent and Poker Night at the Inventory?
I 'member.
And they had a toxic work environment?! How'd that happen?! Where did it all go wrong?!
I can only hope a new developer rises from Telltale's impending ashes and revisit the roots of funny adventure games... (Even if I understand it's probably a super niche genre...)

Updates on the Telltale matter. " to be clear, we're not shutting down. As odd as that may sound, 25 of us will continue, foreseeable."
The Protomen enhanced my life....Did you not read the link I posted?
Of course the CEO will say they won't shut down, and they might even continue, but I take his words with a table full of salt.

Double Post, Walking Dead Final Season is cancelled
So I guess the 25 are not there to finish the contract.
Minecraft Story Mode on Netflix is one hell of thing to go out with.
You had a good run Telltale... most of the time.

Just did, and what I got was a horrifying and depressing midnight read.
So basically after their first Walking Dead game, they tried to recapture that lightning in a bottle...except they somehow didn't get what made their TWD game so great. And they were somehow very against experimenting. And they were always dealing with tight deadlines. And they were being bossed around by a guy who apparently got drunk with power and pride thanks to TWD.
And now they're axing the last installment of their Walking Dead series. Anyone else seeing the irony here or is it just me?
In any case, I'm actually glad a work environment as toxic as Telltale's is shutting down. I had some ideas for Telltale, but I guess they'll have to go elsewhere because I refuse to be associated with such toxicity. Wanting to be successful but refusing to experiment and treating employees like dirt? No thanks.
EA.
The Maxis people knew and loved has been LONG gone. Really this is just formalizing what's been a fact for a while.
