Body Screen Fill Up seems to be a supertrope to Walk Through the Camera at any rate, since the latter requires the "walk through the camera" to continue after entry and exiting.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI don't see a difference between the tropes, so a merge sounds sensible.
Check out my fanfiction!Body Screen Fill Up: After the character walks into the screen, either the show will cut to a different scene, the same setting will be shown afterwards, the camera will cut to black, or the camera will rotate 180° and show them walking through it.
Walk Through the Camera seems to jus be The Same But More, with a lot of links as examples.
Body Screen Fill Up seems like an awkward name, but it's hard to argue with success. Walk Through the Camera does look like The Same But More Specific; +1 to merge.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Walk Through the Camera is a subtrope to Body Screen Fill Up. Body Screen Fill Up only requires the first part (the body filling the screen), not the second (cutting to the back side of the person, showing them walking away). I think we should remove any duplicate examples from Body Screen Fill Up, leaving them only on the subtrope, as is standard procedure. I see no need to merge a valid subtrope into its supertrope.
Fair enough. But what about the new pages created/being created, mostly by the same troper — Walk Into Camera Obstruction and Walk Out Of Camera Obstruction and Walk into the Camera (blanked) and possibly Eat the Camera and Sit on the Camera, which may be distinct enough. I find it highly unlikely that every one of these pages need to be separate.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Walk Into Camera Obstruction is a duplicate of Body Screen Fill Up, as even stated in the Walk Into Camera Obstruction YKTTW (which probably also explains why the creator blanked Body Screen Fill Up). Walk Out of Camera Obstruction is a duplicate of Walk Through the Camera, and thus should be discarded (as I've pointed out on that YKTTW already; EDIT: and the YKTTW has been discarded). All of these seem to have been created by the same person, although Walk Through the Camera doesn't have a YKTTW, so I'm not sure.
Maybe you're right. Maybe they would be better on a single page, ignoring the finer distinctions. I tend to be a splitter rather than a lumper, so that's where my preference for leaving subtropes alone comes from, but this mass seems to be rather a mess.

I guess Eat the Camera and Sit on the Camera are distinct enough to be separate tropes, though they both need better descriptions.
The rest are just tiny differences that should be merged.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.Bumping this; we now have a POV Camera Cut Front To Back YKTTW, by a different person, and the Walking Away Shot page by the same person as started the rest of them. We really, really need to cut this down to one page.
I think all the tropes should be merged into either Body Screen Fill Up or Walk Through the Camera — the second is nicer as a name, but the first encompasses sitting on or eating the camera. Those two, while distinct in excecution, don't have a different meaning to walking into or out of the camera, so they aren't separate tropes.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Eyo. Do we need a crowner for this?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHere's an idea, how about we move the examples from Body Screen Fill Up to Walk Through the Camera, because I agree that Body Screen Fill Up is an awkward name, Walk Through the Camera gives the description of the trope more sense, plus THAT title may give people the wrong idea. Or, how about this title "In And Out POV Obstruction" it kind of gives detail about all the tropes created by this person.

Since this discussion is so slow, I've created a crowner to get consensus. Feel free to add options and edit the description. Oh, and here are the numbers for the pages, for reference.
Page | Wicks | Inbounds |
Body Screen Fill Up | 1* | 322 |
Walk Through the Camera | 30 | 144 |
Walk Into Camera Obstruction | 63 | 61 |
Walk into the Camera | 0 | 25 |
Walking Away Shot | 10 | 62 |
Sit on the Camera | 20 | 0 |
Eat the Camera | 18 | 385 |
With the "possible" exceptions - so are we doing another crowner round?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI didn't intend it to read like that. I mean that if the option for keeping those articles separate achieves consensus, they won't be merged in; otherwise, they will.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. So Telcontar, how many votes counting on before the decision is made?
Generally, the mods look for at least 15 votes before they'll call the crowner.
Body Screen Fill Up is a terrible name, bordering on Word Salad.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableAgreed, it's an awful name for a trope. I don't get why it has so many more inbounds than the others.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. The inbounds from all of these aren't the normal general use in discussions and articles across the 'net. The creator of all of them (sans the current YKTTW) has a Youtube channel which links to several of the pages (only a few at a time, it seems, which explains why he wiped and recreated a couple), so Body Screen Fill Up got inbounds from there. This means that inbounds can't be considered a measure of trope success to the extent they normally can and they're not necessarily indicative of a good name.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I added a "merge into [Name to be Determined]" option to the crowner because I don't like any of the names on there.
Walk Through the Camera is too specific for merging everything, Body Screen Fill Up is just awkward (and with the inbound count not being valid, there's no real reason to save it), and In And Out Camera POV is bland and awkward.
So does anyone have any better ideas for a name?

Downvoted top suggestion until we have a name settled.
"Polite life will fill you full of cancer." - Iggy Pop "I've seen the future, brother, it is murder." -Leonard CohenThat is the job of an alt names crowner, but I have to agree that we ought to have some alternate names.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMaybe Through The Camera or Into The Camera or something like that?
Crown Description:
Walk Through The Camera, Body Screen Fill Up, Walk Into Camera Obstruction, Walk Into The Camera (blanked), Walking Away Shot, and POV Camera Cut Front To Back are all about camera transitions that are identical or very similar. In addition, Sit On The Camera and Eat The Camera have little distinct meaning in a story. It is likely that not all the separate pages are needed. Wick and inbound counts are given in post 13.
I think it's fairly obvious this is a duplicate of Body Screen Fill Up — a character walks towards the camera and fills the screen, cut to the character walking away from the camera. They even have many of the same examples, with pages like Rugrats listing both trope names.
Since Body Screen Fill Up has twice the wicks (51 vs 27) and many times the inbounds as Walk Through the Camera (295 vs 45), I propose we redirect WTTC to it, merging examples if needed. Does that seem sensible to everyone?
