We are Worms, we're the best
And we've come to end the war,
We'll stand and never run
Stay until it's done,
Though our friends may fall,
And our world may fall apart,
We'll fight with all our might,
Fight for what is right,
'Til the end.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Last year I often played Worms 2 with some friends between classes. We always played on an "Overpowered" setting, meaning everyone got an infinite number of every weapon (which made Super Sheep, Mad Cows and Super Banana Bombs the weapons of choice) and that the Uzi, which we got after 7 rounds or so, was so ridiculously powerful it could blast away a good chunk of the map. Good times...
The only disadvantage was that it made games against the computer an absolute bore. The Worms AI (understandably) wasn't programmed to do well under players' own custom rulesets, and thus always played as if the standard rules were in effect, making it laughably easy to blast them away with my infinite Super Banana Bombs.
Mache dich, mein Herze, rein...Did you end up using one of the homing weapons that only showed up in Worms 2?
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.I have Reloaded and 3D. I like them both quite a lot, for different moods.
And damn is that theme song catchy!
I used to play Worms World Party all the time when I was much younger.
I didn't even know if there were any new games in the series coming out, I think I'll check them out soon.
One of them is a Facebook game, while the other, Revolution, is apparently going to shake up the formula a bit. For example, it's 2½D.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. It also introduces four classes of worms: The soilder, The scout, the scientist and the heavy.
A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.Of course, that's if one wants to deal with classes. There's even some new bits involving water, physics-bound objects, and at least one weapon that takes advantage of the fact that Worms Revolution is 2.5D (Boggy B.).
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.I have Reloaded. And I haven't played it in forever. Fond, fond memories of playing Worms back in the day though.
So, what do you name your worms? I have a team of Stalfos, Lizalfos, Armos, Beamos; a team of Isaac A., Robert H., Arthur C., Ray. B; a team of Typhoons!, Hurricanes!, Earthquakes!, SMOG!; etc. CPU teams include personality cores (Morality, Curiosity, Logic, Emotion); medieval siege engines (Trebuchet, Ballista, Onager, Mangonel); I could go on.

Worms Revolution is coming October 10th, and preordering it will get you exclusive hats, forts, speechbanks, gravestones and bonus campaign missions. Even better, if you pre-order it on Steam, you'll get Worms Armageddon (not the recent one, the original), updated for modern P Cs and ready to play right now!
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle. Is one of those voices New Yorker?
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Nope. The new voices are Wildlife Documenter and Reality TV Talent Judge.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Teasers been released for 2020 game
Looks like a return to 3D Worms.
(Talk about a seldom-visited thread though)
All I know about Worms is the Worst Shot Ever compilations XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.Seems the Worms Rumble will be real time single worm combat rather then turn-based team combat
Well, that kills a lot of my interest in the game.

If it were me, I'd probably go for 2D: It's a lot simpler to work with, I daresay, and a lot simpler to play in, too.
For the latter, after all, in 2D trajectories have only a single plane in which to fall, and "wind" likely only acts on a single axis. That makes, I feel, for trajectory-based gameplay that's much more accessible and much more intuitive.
Not to mention that 2D makes the presentation and reading of the playfield much easier, too. Imagine dealing with tunnels in 3D, in terms of spotting them, aiming them, and digging to meet them.
I won't say that 3D worms couldn't work, just that I feel that 2D is more congenial to the concept.

My Games & WritingI'd imagine dirt remains would be more a problem with 3D, amount of worms lost when a something explodes in their face from hitting one missed pixel of dirt would be much more common with all rough edges in a 3D tunnel
As two new Worms games are coming out soon, and we don't have a discussion thread for either of those or most of the classic games, I think we need a general thread to discuss Worms-ish things in.
So, what new weapons are you looking forward to in Revolution?
