Awesome game. Though I admit I've spend a lot more time on Alien Soldier than I have with this game. I need a person to play with.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.You should try Alien soldier if you ever get the chance. Cool game.
And Seven Force is to this day, one of the coolest bosses in VG history.

Too bad the GBA version of Seven Force is easy because of the cannon.
Seven Force's theme alone is badass.

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.It was pretty cool.
However, the Homing gun combined with the Lightning gun = Instant Game-Breaker to me.
Watch SymphogearExpert players will tell you it's not the best combination especially for higher difficulties. It's really good if you're not a pro.
I gotta admit, this is a game I loved until I had a cousin who insisted on ALWAYS PLAYING THIS when he came over. It quickly got grating after that... I'd buy new games but he'd keep wanting to play this.
I hate it when that happens, because I know that whatever bias I have its a perfectly good game. It's no Contra Hard Corps but it rocks on its own.
How was the GBA Remake?
visit my blog! That weird mix of nicer in some respects, not as good as others, and too much trying to copy the original in some points and not following the original in others. A shinier package, but I wouldn't really call it a better game. I'd still recommend it, mind you, it just doesn't feel as good.
The final boss battle is a disappointment compared to the battle against Golden Silver in the original. Most of the other boss battles feel a bit weaker, except Black. (At least, I thought Black was cool) The final duel against Green in the original where he takes you on with his bare hands is instead now Green attacking you with Seven Force again. This time, he dashes across the screen, changes into one form of Seven Force, attacks, changes back, dashes, changes into a different form... Not bad, but again, the duel against Green in the original was better.
It also has a plot. A somewhat complex plot that takes multiple playthroughs to get the full story. Not a completely wretched plot, but with a game like Gunstar Heroes, you don't need a plot. Evil Empire doing Bad Things, Go Blow Everything Up. The game takes place quite some time in the future of the original Gunstar. (I forget if it was a hundred years or a thousand.)

Don't take life too seriously. It's only a temporary situation.Yes! I finally got to play this game again! Thank you Shirow Shirow!
It's a lot easier than I remember, but I guess playing it at 21 is a lot easier than playing it at 10 or something.
Also I haven't played hard yet.

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books.I highly suggest you tackle Alien Soldier, this game's Spiritual Successor and semi sequel after this, Game Chainsaw.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.YOU SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN LIMITED AMMO IN A GAME LIKE THAT!
You expect me not to shoot everything constantly!?
You be welcome. I grabbed it too because... Well, it was the honorable thing to do. Wonder if it has online play....

Bleye knows Sabers.WHAT?! How can you not love that game, Shirow?! That game is like, the closest thing to Run N Gun God Hand/ Devil May Cry!!
Also, your ammo gradually replenishes when it's not selected.

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Oh, I love the game. But still. @$%& it. She makes it her own solemn duty to cause me as much suffering as physically possible. She's a sadist. She's the action-genre version of Dark Souls.
The sega collection isn't actually working for me for some reason, but I can still play the games through less honorable means.

Bleye knows Sabers.Eh, if you bought it I doubt anyone cares if you pirated it afterwards.
The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books. The sega collection of that game sucks. If you have to, get either the Steam version or the VC version.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Why does it suck exactly?
unless I've played the wrong collection. I think there was a collection on the dreamcast that had butchered sound?
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.OHHHH that one? I remember hearing about that infamous collection.
Well, I've just learned the hard way that the difficulty jumps significantly on hard. Particularly the Smash Daisokyou (something) fight.
EDIT: and the space level is worse. On the plus side, I have a new favourite weapon; the double chaser.

The term "Great Man" is disturbingly interchangeable with "mass murderer" in history books. So reviving this for a quick question.
I don't get the combination mechanic.
I pick a weapon at the start, and that seems to be it. Just one.
Every walkthrough I can find says you should use the A button which switches weapons, but nothing seems to happen. I've tried tapping, just pressing, and holding, but nothing.
Does the combined weapon have a unique animation or is it just the same with a different contact damage?
I can't shake the feeling I'm missing out on something incredibly obvious and am only getting half the play experience.
Unless maybe the second weapon is a powerup? idk.
"No will to break."You have to pick up another weapon during the stage, which you usually find off fallen enemies, containers, or the little birdie that drops items. Once you get the second weapon they combine but you're still able to switch to the two individual weapons if you so choose, unless you get two of the same in which you'd just get two choices(singular and double combination). Let's take an example.
You pick lightning at the stage select screen. You pick a level, and in that level you find a chaser powerup. Once you pick it up, it now turns into the lightning chaser. By pressing switch(which the button prompt depends on which version your playing) you can rotate between lightning, chaser, or lightning chaser. Once you pick up another weapon one of the ones you have equipped will be dropped, but you can pick it up. Just note that you can only have two weapon pickups at once.
The basic weapons are lightning, force, chaser, and fire. Combine or double up any of those to get the combination weapons. Generally combining two different ones is better than doubling up on the same, but they're also more specialized and harder to use.
AH, thanks. On Normal I've barely picked up any powerups at all, so that explains it. Thanks. This is literally not explained anywhere in the over a dozen guides I've dug through.
"No will to break."Hilariously abusable on stage 5 with 2 players since the duck moves the direction of the screen scroll.
Ahh yes, a Classic by Treasure.
I just downloaded it off PSN and it's very fun so far.
