Archery is just what he chooses to do.

Also note he apparently gets nothing but holes in one in Golf.

Oh right. Civil War also had him revealing he can make his Bow into a bo.

I don't seem to have the dislike for Jeremy Renner that others do. Maybe things would have been better if the other movies had used him a bit more. Not sure why they held back on that.

I didn't mind it at first (hell, I wanted them to do gender-bent Sun-Wukong...which I think they did do), but then it started getting out of control.

They saw it worked once, and decided to go all in. Now it's just stocked with Waifus.

But it does prove the point.

When Kate does it, she’s a cool slick cute badass. But when Clint does it he’s an old fuddy-duddy.

Despite the fact the there’s not really much of a difference between the 2 aside from gender.

Honestly, I think Kate works because of Clint.

She has great chemistry with him but when they hang out he tends to be a trash fire so she looks more put together in comparison.

He also started playing second fiddle a lot after his death and resurrection and lost a lot of his fire so he's just tired these days. A tired guy who is constantly covered in bandages and wears a shirt with an arrowhead icon because he's too tired to put on the ol' costume.

He used to push to lead the Avengers or ingratiate himself into the Thunderbolts and now he's just happy to add some experience to whatever random collection of people he ends up with.

Man, death really changed Clint.

Also, Kate hangs out with America Chavez and to a lesser extent the other Young Avengers and they also have great chemistry.

Then again, dying kills a lot of things, Clint included.

I suspect, because I'm a jerk, that dying in such a profoundly stupid way killed something deep instead Clint. Like, out of embarrassment.

You can argue this at being a deconstruction of Badass Normals.

Clint's a normal human and so getting old and the constant wear and tear is getting to him. While Cap can maintain his physical prime for far longer than a normal human lifespan, Clint's body is like an athlete whose pushed himself all his life and is breaking down faster.

When was he resurrected?

It was back during House of M I believe.

Although why is Clint the only one suffering this? There are lots of other totally normal dudes (who aren't getting by on a technicality like Steve via the super soldier serum) who are right there in the thick of things.

Black Widow, Daredevil, etc.

Why is Clint the only one getting too old for this shit?

Natasha apparently has her own kind of Super Serum, mainly about keeping her young, if she isn't as obviously enhanced, and Matt... well, he is a permanently beaten down mess, really.

True, and Matt's pretty beaten up too.

He'd probably be worse if he didn't have his Super-Senses to help him avoid a lot of hits he should be taking, and he's still pretty wrecked.

Ok, I'm sure there's at least one other person who's completely normal with no super powers like Clint....

Let me see here: Night Thrasher wears armour, which probably protects him a lot, so he might not count.

Oh. The Punisher. That guy often looks like an utterly battered mess.

.....but wow. Marvel has far fewer fully Bad Ass Normal heroes than DC does it seems.

Edit: I forgot Mockingbird.....no, wait, they did do something to her recently didn't they? I think they gave him Nick Fury's infinity formula or something.

A combination of the Infinity Formula and the Super Soldier Serum actually.

It was warned that it could have dangerous consequences but she seems pretty okay. Unless the dangerous consequences were not having much panel time.

At this point, I would say Moon Knight has been depicted without powers for probably as long as he was written with powers.

Also, Clint has a history of bad things happening to him and then having them written out later. He was rendered 80% deaf, and then that was fixed around the time of Heroes Return (the first one), he died and was resurrected twice from Avengers Disassembled to the end of House of M, he was going blind but then he got a bone marrow transplant to fix that, and so on.

It's the kind of thing that happens to a character when they've been around for nearly 60 years.

Another thing re Kate not picking up Clint’s memetic loser reputation, I think it’s been influenced the way they were written as foils in Fraction’s run. Since it was focusing on Clint as kind of a fuck-up, Kate was more hypercompetent by comparison and since that was such a prominent series, that’s the characterisation that’s stuck since.

Though, interestingly, she was only that hyper-competent around Clint. When she went on her own during that run, she was a pretty major fuck-up, herself.

Being around Clint makes anyone look more competent.

Though the Lemire run completely fell into the stereotype by portraying Kate as actually hyper-competant and perfect while nerfing Clint so hard he couldn't even beat one mook.

Granted it depends on what kind of competence. There is a difference between being good at fighting and being good at handling your life.
