Okay, gonna do a word-count check on Fate/Revenant Sword's chapter, hang on a bit.

...

Almost 10k words? That's your preferred chapter length?

Well, I still find that a tad shorter than I'd care for, really. Anything 10k+ is fair game, though, so that's what I try to write.

That kind of league is what I prefer. Usually because I don't have a large block of time in which to tackle chapters that are, say, 90k for instance.

As far as my own writing goes, I tend to find that around 7k words works fine, though I will of course go longer or shorter depending on what feels riht for a chapter in question.

Okay, 90k is ridiculous, even for me!

I may have done around a third of that amount for the prologue and the first Phase, but it gets shorter for the three phases afterword, and that includes the Phase that isn't published yet.

In regards to your own chapters, I understand what you mean, 30k is not an absolute average for me in any case.

Well, I know it's probably bad forum etiquette to double-post, but I couldn't help but ask this.

Who here wants to help fill the tropes page for my story? I'm referring to Gundam Wing: Reaper of the SEED.

Don't worry about double-posting so long as there's a considerable gap between the two. Which, here, was the case.

As for troping your fic... sorry man, but I don't think I'm quite the guy to do it for ya.

I see. Thanks for that clarification.

Also, I guess that I'll have to wait on that subject, at least for a short while.

Has anyone considered doing a Crisis On Infinite Earths-style crossover with the various Gundam shows?

I was thinking the Big Bad might be a parallel Turn A (or Turn X) that got infected with DG Cells.

I'm late to the party but Iaculus, if you haven't written that freaky friday flip yet, please do. It sounds hilarious.

This is a fic I wrote a while ago (I think I posted it in the Gundam forum at the time, but got no responses). I'm always happy to have reviews, or even just readers though, so if anybody is interested, please feel free to take a look:

Yes, the Freaky Friday flip has to happen. For Haman's experiences in the AGE universe if nothing else.

Yeah, I'm working on another, ongoing project at the moment, but I certainly have... ideas for that story. Ideas like Haman's reaction to meeting her very first Char Clone, and Mashmyre serving as Fram's cheerfully oblivious guide to the Universal Century.

Also, I have a surprising amount of plans pertaining to Girard Spriggan, of all people.

[up]Cue the Mashmyre x Fram shipping from everybody reading it. Though honestly, I could get behind such a ship. On a more serious note, Fram's not gonna like Rakan Dahkaran or Glemmy is she? Come to think of it, she missed out on Decil so she's never been that close to one of Gundam's bona fide psycho for hire types. She's really not gonna like Rakan. Or Yazan if she meets him across the battlefield.

I need to get back on fanfiction writing, but the fact that people generally aren't interested in the characters I write about (and tend to flip out when Ghinius is portrayed sympathetically) kind if kills my motivation to do so.

[up]Question: how sympathetically are we talking about? Assuming we're not talking Draco in Leather Pants territory, they really shouldn't be freaking out.

Androidraptor Since: Jan, 2001

Sympathetic as in not just 100% evil with nothing else to him, and a complex product of his circumstances (though still acknowledging his flaws and faults). Which is enough to make people get their britches in a crack at me, because apparently treating him as anything other than pure evil is Leather Pantsing, or at the very least reading into things that aren't there and being a delusional fangirl. Believe me, it's happened before.

I really hate how that term is getting to be overused as a way to insult people who just like or sympathize with villain characters, even if they aren't actually taking it to the extreme of Draco in Leather Pants. It's like Mary-Sue, yeah it describes a very real phenomenon, but it's quickly becoming an insult thrown around at whatever female character a person doesn't like, whether they actually are Sue-y or not.

[up][up][up][up]It's worth remembering that by the third generation, the Vagan military actually has quite a high atrocity threshold, as evidenced by things like Zeheart bombing Kio's home city. It's needless deaths on their own side that really get to them. I can see Fram actually going quite a little way before she ends up going 'whoa, whoa, whoa, this is seriously fucked up' (not in those exact words, obviously).

As for Mash, he's had a Celeb Crush on Haman ever since they were both kids. His reaction when/if he discovers that a totally different person from a totally different universe has taken up residence inside her brain should be... interesting.

Another thing I was looking at was pinning down the mechanics of Newtype and X-Rounder powers to make them clearly distinct. I had a few ideas on this count, actually. Newtypes are all about forming connections, understanding others, and shaping the world around them. Telepathy and limited telekinesis, basically. Pretty easy to work with, since the UC had covered the generalities of how they work extensively. X-Rounders are trickier - in some ways, what an X-Rounder can do is even vaguer than Tomino at his most mystic. Forming connections didn't quite seem to work thematically, especially given Ezelcant's line about X-Rounders being regrettably necessary throwbacks. Instead, I decided on a theme of perception - heightened awareness bordering on Super-Senses, ultra-fast thought processes, and short-distance precognition. There was another, darker take I thought of, a hyperdeveloped survival instinct that tells you how to most efficiently kill your enemy in a manner akin to Tsukihime's Mystic Eyes of Death Perception and slowly drives you into murderous insanity, but I felt that needed a story to itself (I had a notion in the pipeline for a 'Tomino version' of AGE, bringing in his pessimistic take on the franchise's anti-war themes... though definitely not his weird gender politics).

Another thing I was thinking of was making Rounders and Newtypes violently allergic to each other - Newtypes can't detect or form connections with X-Rounders, who just get crippling headaches instead. I'm sure you can think of a few dozen ways that could go entertainingly wrong.

Still working on my next chapter of Peacekeepers.

To anyone who doesn't know, it's a crossover between most Gundam series and the Super Robot Wars series.

[up][up]It's not so much what Rakan does that I would expect to bother her, as the attitude he brings to it. With the exceptions of Decil and maybe Zanald, most of the Vagan that I remember commit atrocities because they think they're fighting people who have it coming. Guys like Rakan and Yazan who just kill for the Hell of it seem comparitively rare (again, excepting Decil whom she never met).

The Newtype/X-Rounder setup sounds good.

I've always had a few Crossover ideas kicking around in my head, I always wanted to see a crossover where Char or one of his clones wound up in the Armored Core 4/4A universe. They'd keep their signature suits too.

The other one I'd love to see is Mr.Bushido in the 13th Gundam Fight. Come on tell me that wouldn't be hilarious and awesome.

The final one that I always thought'd be awesome is... Gurren Laggan meets G Gundam. Specifically Master Asia vs Kamina.

[up]Graham would probably have an hour-long screaming match with the judges about not being allowed to pilot a Flag variant into the tournament, and then get disqualified halfway through the Gundam Fight for having an inappropriate relationship with a mobile suit from a rival country.

So I decided to revise Reaper of the SEED by a long shot. No longer will it have needless crossovers, but instead, it'll be a triple-crossover (I hope) between Gundam Wing/SEED-verse/00.

Currently in the planning stages for how the whole story will run its course.

Graham's melee focused suits actually might be a challange for any Gundam Fighter to deal with, as its completely different than most Gundam Fighters.
