@KSPAM: Hey, that's only three. You forgot the Lethal Joke Character. Or is it Fighting Clown? Obfuscating Stupidity?

OK, running into a bit of writer's block here. I have a character concept and a personal backstory, but no idea how he would get his powers. Any good writers here willing to help? Send me a PM if so... I'm not used to writing superhero origins

Basically, Alex Mercer (Prototype's main character) has all the powers of The Thing (John Carpenter, not Fantastic Four), and can gain knowledge and experience as well as regain health and energy by "absorbing biomass" which is a fancy way of saying OMNOMNOM FLESH OF THE INNOCENT

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial

@Stratofarius: In that case, he's approved.wink

@Shadowbell: I'd be willing to help. If you're interested, just send me what you have, and I'll give you a backstory.smile

@Totem: Really? That's a shame; I rather liked Fogata. Perhaps you could keep the same personality and basic background, but give her a Power Upgrade?

KSPAM: Okay... but I never saw 'The Thing', and besides that, he still has to write it on his sheet.

The Thing is an alien life form which can regenerate from a single cell, rapidly assimilate living matter, disguise itself perfectly as anything living, and can change its body into a variety of nasty claws, blades, and bludgeons.

[up]Huh. But, as a matter of principal, Insano's still going to have to put that on his character sheet. He's not going to be able to do 'regenerate from a single cell' or anything like that though; too overpowered.

Special thanks to KSPAM for helping me with the origin story

Name: Daniel Imada / The Windrider

Side: Anti-Registration

Physical Appearance: The Windrider is muscular, but not bulky (think Regal from Tales of Symphonia). He has short black hair and brown eyes. His costume consists of a simple green tunic and a Han'nya mask to conceal his identity. He had an elaborate costume with a cape early on in his superhero career, but he found it far too impractical.

Personality: Daniel's deepest held belief is that the strong have a moral duty to help the weak. He's slow to warm up to new people, but once he does consider someone a friend he is very loyal. He cares deeply for his younger sister.

Powers: Power over wind. He doesn't have the ability to actually alter weather patterns, but he can fire powerful bursts of wind at his foes. He also has the power of flight, from which he derives his name.

Other Skills: Daniel is a skilled martial artist in excellent physical condition, though he's definitely not in the same league as Strix.

Background/Origin: Daniel Imada came from a fairly well-off family, and for a while his life was good. However, his parents were killed in an avalanche during a family vacation and the 19 year old Daniel was left to care for his younger sister Emily by himself. One year after this, he returned to the site of his parents' deaths. He saw that the avalanche had exposed an odd stone with a strange green glow. When he touched it, there was a flash of light and he fell unconscious. When he woke up, he found that he had power over wind and the ability to fly. He swore to use these powers to protect the helpless, and never for personal gain. He has a very good reason for being on the anti-registration side: The one time a foe learned his secret identity, he targeted Daniel's sister. He managed to save her, but since then he has fiercely guarded his identity.

Approved. But now, I'm going to have ask newcomers to be pro-reg again. I want at least 1-2 more pro-reggers before we get more anti-regs.

Also, unless anyone has any objections, the starting date will be be tomorrow, Tuesday May 8th, as I said last night. Just an FYI.

I noticed we seemed to be lacking on telepaths like the original RP had, so here we go!

Name: Matthew Wallace and Kara O'Delly (aka "Medium")
Age: Matthew is 24. Kara, well...see below.
Side: Registered
Appearance: Matthew is tall, thin, and brown haired, wears glasses, and prefers dark gray or black clothes. He normally wears an overcoat when on hero duty. Kara is blue colored and translucent (clothing and all), when she chooses to make herself visible to normal people.
Personality: Matthew is calm and laid-back for the most part, to the point of being slightly lazy, although he takes his hero work seriously. Kara is cheerful and optimistic, and a bit of a prankster (not that most people know about her).
Powers: Matthew has the ability to communicate with ghosts, and has a telepathic link with Kara. Kara has full telepathic and telekinetic powers, in addition to being incorporeal and able to pass through solid objects (she is a ghost, after all). However, Kara is bound to Matthew's location, and cannot move more than a few hundred feet away from him. Her psychic powers also do not work beyond this range.
Other Skills: Matthew is a police detective, and has full training and some experience as such.
Background: Kara always wanted to be a super hero when she grew up, and frequently told her long-time friend (and later boyfriend) Matthew such. However, a horrible traffic accident in high school seeming ended that goal. At least, until Matthew discovered later that evening that that the ghost of Kara, with her own powers, was now psychically bonded to him...and he had a few powers of his own. Adopting her dream, he applied for the police academy as soon as he was eligible *

, and has been following that path since, with Kara as his constant (albeit sometimes annoying) companion.

  • Name: Karasuma Kurogane
  • Side: Unregistered
  • Physical Appearance: My drawing of him.
  • Personality: Amicable and easy going, Karasuma is a person who prefers to make friends rather than enemies. A bit blunt at times, he nevertheless is a sociable person. He also goes out of his way to help anyone in need, though sometimes that complicates his problems to an absurd degree.
  • Powers: He has the power to create Dark Rails, or flexible extensions of semi solid black aura that can be used as whips, grappling hooks, armor, springs, and other things. He can also knit them together to change their overall appearance and effectiveness. He can also solidify the Dark Rails to make it hard as steel, though he can only do that for a brief instance at a time.
  • Other Skills: A credible street fighter in his own right, Karasuma knows aikido. He's also very good at abstract designs and art in general, which helps out greatly with Dark Rail shaping. Also very physically fit.
  • Background/Origin: He's from a very specialized onmyoudo family, and its successor. This means he received the handed down yatagarasu shikigami that lives within his body and grants him usage of its powers. Nowadays he uses it to go around and help out people like a good Samaritan, though always in secret. Unlike most other heroes, he doesn't go around actively being a vigilante though he does obviously help out if there is conflict. Currently a high school student who wishes to enter an arts themed college.
  • Miscellaneous Notes: He has a slight phobia around women for some reason, and cannot touch them directly else his body is paralyzed by a mental lock though he does enjoy talking with them. He's working hard on getting around this dilemma at the moment.

I'm pretty sure "unaffiliated" isn't an option here. Or rather, being "unaffiliated" would probably put you in the "unregistered" side by default.

@Grey Star: Mostly fine... but your background could use some work. Yes, we know how he got his powers, but what is he doing, (in other words, his goal, or his drive,) and why is he doing what he's doing? (And this goes without saying, but don't say it in another post, go back to 'background' and put it there.)

Is that better? I'm seeing if he's capable of evolving as a character the story goes on, since right now he's a bit lackluster in heroing zeal. ^^.

Insano: Accepted.smile Just try to keep the 'absorb bio-mass' thing from getting too over-powered, because there is the potential for that.

As you wish. Is the current situation one where registered are allowed to intervene?

Also, may I suggest adding links on the first post to accepted bios? It would be more efficient than jumping around the pages to find the bio of the character you're talking to.

[up]1.Yes, registered can intervene. If they couldn't intervene, then I would have said so.wink Registered's can their normal hero-work as before; it's just that they to give up everything about them to the government, and in addition to that, if the government assigns them to do their dirty work, then they're expected to do it.

2.Might be a good idea, but if I do it, it'll have to be later.
