Sengoku Rance - P5 only

IT is a horror story. The entire thing is meant to be repulsive, and make you uncomfortable as you read it. Last I checked, Sengoku Rance is about conquering Japan. Besides the fact that IT's offending material is maybe two pages of an 1100 page book.

Nothing actually happens in Lolita. Besides the fact that yes, being culturally important is something of a deciding factor. Specifically, School Study Media is exempt from being cut.

I haven't seen Mysterious Skin, but people who have describe it as a movie about the horrors of child molestation. And the P5 agreed, and passed it.

None of those is comparable to Rance.

Can we make this P5 only? I think everyone here needs to cool off a bit.

There is a HUGE difference between the content of Mysterious Skin, which shows most of its sexuality in shadows and simply talks about disturbing things, and an image of a young girl coated in semen. I appreciate what you're doing, but as far as I'm concerned, there are just so many better ways to get your point across without resorting to something that panders to the basest instincts of its audience. It's pandering. It's worse than Litchi Hikari Club's bloodletting.

You are fully misinterpreting the matter.

There are plenty of negative portrayals of paedophilia, which show, in fact, the sexual abuse to horrify you. Mysterious Skin. Higanbana No Saku Yoru Ni. Neither of those has a little girl going bukkake on her face. The act is drawn as unattractive as possible, without obvious depiction of fanservice. This is just one more thing against Rance, which has a lot on its plate.

Your personal feelings and love of the series are irrelevant.

Okay, this is why I don't just look at the CG sets. There's no context for anything.

Kouhime's rape scene is not played for titillation at all. It is played like a torture scene, and then Rance comes in and starts killing the torturers (that is, rapists). This was brought up earlier in the thread, but looking back it wasn't made obvious that the whole thing—well, the end of it, anyway—was on screen. Any of the characters who thought that was anything but horrifying are either dead by the end of the scene, or the Big Bad. This is also Rance's major turning point, going from "Eh, I guess I should stop the bad guy, I'm living here and everything..." to actually declaring that he's going to kill him.

To be quite honest, at this point, I honestly couldn't give two bits about whatever context that scene has. I mean, this game is filled to the brim with enough questionable content already, and that scene was what pushed past to the point of what I consider "acceptable." Sorry, mon, but I ain't changing my vote.

Bumping this to get some closed threads to the bottom of the list.

Apologies for the double-post. Can't get the DL links to work. In the mean time, I'll see if I can find a Let's Play or something.

After thinking things over, I have decided that Sengoku Rance ultimately does not meet our content policies. While there is a detailed strategy game in there, multiple problematic elements exist (not the least of which being Kou's rape scene). If the programmers had used something not rape there, or even just used a discretion shot, it could have passed, but as others have said, that is the last straw of sorts.

To other P5 Members: Before I lock in my devilhead, do any of my comrades want to deliberate what our disposition ought to be, or should I go ahead and throw it on the cutlist?

To others reading the thread: Please do not argue against my decision, or for that matter even mention Sengoku Rance. My decision is final. I will not hesitate to holler to the mods for being disruptive should you not respect this request. At this point, I'm sick of hearing about Rance.

To the staff: If I'm out of line in the above, please say so. I will recant that statement if I am. Also, should this be cutlisted, be on your guard for the page being recreated as happened with Baldr Sky and Kamidori Alchemy Meister (or whatever it was called).

I would like to redirect it somewhere, but with the main Franchise/ page gone, I don't see a place for it.

Oh well. Everyone said everything they had to say on this series, I think.

EDIT: Or, as pointed out on the other thread, we can redirect it (and probably the franchise page and whatnot) to Alice Soft. That's what we did with XX Xenophile and Phil Foglio.

That would work fine. I would still like to hear from Meeble, Komodin, and the ever-elusive Catalogue before I lock in my devil. Two out of those three would be acceptable. Where is Catalogue, anyways?

Hm, while I would be just peachy with cutting it wholesale, I guess we can go with redirecting it to Alice Soft. I just want to be done with this game already.

I'm fine with that. Redirect and lock prevents people from recreating the page as an added benefit.
