I'm late to the notice, but I just learned that Tawna is in CTR. That's so good. It's twenty years late, but at least Tawna is getting some attention.

Are the Nitro Squad separate characters or Tawna skins?

[up] They have their own voices and expressions, so I'd say they're individual characters.

There certainly are a lot of anthropomorphic bandicoots in the cast now, though. In the first game, wasn't Crash an experiment? I guess that's just an artifact now.

My fan-theory is that Neo Cortex sold the patent to his intelligence granting machine to make ends meet, allowing any mad scientist on the street to uplift animals, making sapient animals relatively common.

Sure, it has zero backing in the games, and it's probably best to just call Crash's origin an artifact, but whatever.

Tawna and the Nitro Girls will be available on the first Grand Prix Season on July 3rd. She will have to be unlocked via a Seasonal pass like system that requires player skill and the Nitro Girls will be unlockable in the Pit Stop.

And yeah Sewer Speedway was an frustrating track for me as I never could get jumping off the half pipes to work and the AI on that track (particularly Dingodile) can be pretty nasty along with that second barrel which can be hellish to dodge.

Beyond that I am just having long loading issues and small graphical issues that may be the Switch or my TV being so big. Not sure.

[up]I dunno, that wouldn't surprise me if it were true. Cortex is a egomaniac and he wants the praise of others.

My god, Pinstripe is aggravating. I've lost at least twenty times to him and I'm barely in medium difficulty!

If you're hit by a couple of bombs in a row, you can't come back ever because he's simply too fast. You miss a jump and fall in a pit? Might as well just restart. Projectiles of any sort are completely useless, because the circuit is too tortuous for homing missiles and the bombs deflect all assaults coming from straight behind him. And I can't shake the feeling that the bombs are now slightly homing as well, meaning I got caught off-guard several times by a bomb that could have rolled pass my kart but decided to explode anyway...

I'd like to propose a motion to elevate Pinstripe to SNK Boss status, please!

[up] I'm going to guess that if you somehow win, you'll post in this thread exactly how much worse Oxide is when you race against him.

[up] I'll have to see. But the race probably plays a big factor: while I had to do Air Skyway several times to finish first, I won the space station race on my first try. Maybe that'll help?

[up][up]Maybe it will, maybe it won't... It all depends. Then again, Oxide did blatantly cheat in the original CTR for PS1 by going before the green light when starting the race.

He still does that, like he's some Diddy Kong Racing boss.

Oxide was hell for me in the original CTR. I'm terrified of how he'll be in NF on hard mode.

I missed the part where that's my problem.

Oxide doesn't spend the entire race sniping you with bombs tho.

I beat Roo on my first try. I'll have to see just how bad future bosses are.

From what little I've played so far, I find the medium difficulty just right. It's reasonably challenging, but I can still generally consistently win in a few tries. The easy mode is piss-easy while the hard mode is only for the brave or foolhardy. Honestly, it's a curve I like. In many games, it's difficult to discern any difference at all between difficulty mode. Here, each one is pretty distinctly carved for a particular skill level.

As I said earlier, I couldn't beat Sewer Speedway on medium after nearly ten tries when it was nowhere near that hard in the PSX version. Had to restart Adventure mode on easy.

Sewere Speedway is definitely broken. There are comparison videos out there, the side ramps just don't work the same way at all.

I missed the part where that's my problem.

OK, Papu Papu, you and your track can suck all the dicks. I'm ahead on the last lap and what happens? I fuck myself over!

Yeah Papu Papu's track is very technical which makes his boss fight pretty hard.

The weird part is I beat Komodo Joe, the boss after him pretty fast even though I found Dragon Mines an even harder track.

So it took about fifteen more tries to defeat Pinstripe (yay!) by cheesing his path and timing bonuses to make him fall off the track, and even that was close. Then came Nitrous Oxide which I defeated in barely 3 tries. He's super-annoying when he lobs red potions at you, but once you've taken the lead, he usually doesn't come back.

Huh. Well, That One Boss and all that...

I’m not entirely sure why this is mechanics-wise, but red potions have seemed much more devastating to me this time around than originally, both when I use them and when the opponents use them.

Also, they definitely nerfed Oxide’s boss battle this time around. For one thing, he now takes normal damage from attacks that cause a “launching crash”, for lack of a better name.

I notice a difference in how Oxide is animated in the remake from how he came off in the original game. In this version, he seems way more no-nonsense and almost bored, as opposed to how in the original game he seemed like he was really enjoying his own evil. Not a complaint, but it's a change I find interesting.

Boooo. Beating Oxide is one of the most satisfying things because of how stupidly hard he was.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
