From some quick searching, the series also has non-pornographic games on the Super Nintendo and Playstation. And as far as I can tell, the original OVA series was just ecchi rather than out-right porn (the second OVA series Neo is definitely porn).

I don't really care personally, I've never heard of the series, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Question for mods or P5: I have been watching the voting tool to see progress as to what's happening with different works and some of them seem to have disappeared from the voting page without ever being resolved. (two in particular would be Bakemonogatari and Haganai) Can anyone explain what happened to them?

[down]OK, that makes sense. Thanks, Arha.

I think it was decided that they didn't even merit reviewing. Harmless. I noticed when they disappeared and saw that they hadn't been locked or cut and didn't even show up in the resolved area.

Yes we can "zap" works that are flagged without good reason, so it's possible that's what happened in those cases. (I'm kind of sad, because I was really enjoying reviewing Bakemonogatari! I'll have to add it to the ever growing list of "things I'd like to watch some day when I have time.")

edit: On the subject of boys love/yaoi, of the three that I have reviewed thus far, I've voted to keep two of them. As with other works, it just boils down to the "do I feel like this is primarily porn?" question in most cases.

[up][up] Has it been answered why the Page Restoration Petition pages on there were deleted or are they just not worth looking at?

Misread.

^ I assume you're not talking about Haganai or Bakemonogatari? Those were never deleted so they wouldn't be on the page restoration thing.

It just reminded me of it. I think either lebrel or ccoa put all the cut articles on that page in the content violations report, but they disappeared fairly quickly. Sorry, I'm probably missing something obvious.

Maybe we should take genre into account as well. Cape and tights American comics tend to all have women with the Most Common Superpower in skin tight tights...

If we're letting spandex be accepted as a costume in genres where it's standard, that should probably apply to anime as well. That said, there's a difference between spandex where you can see the whole form of the body, and spandex where you can make out nipples and labia. I've seen the later on some anime and that's not so cool.

Okay, I've gone through the first three volumes of Yomeiro Choice (out of 6), and I've flagged it for review.

  • Premise: Kids From The Future travel back in time to ensure that their father hooks up with their respective mothers, in order to ensure their existence.
  • Target demographic: Seinen-to-Shonen, due to serialisation in different magazines.
  • Objectionable Content:
    • The main character and his love interests are 15 years old and are shown in acts of heavy petting / foreplay. Nipples shown, but no genitalia. Also involves extreme amounts of suggestive imagery (which in a couple of cases are near-explicitly meant to be mistaken for genitalia) and liberal use of Naughty Tentacles.
    • The future characters are presumably younger (actual age not given). Some nudity in the form of Clothing Damage which may be perceived as paedo-pandering. Sporadic incestuous themes - generally used as cheap throwaway gags and / or lampshaded.
  • Mitigating Factor: May fall under the category of "sex comedy" due to near-omnipresent raunchy humour. Does not negate the potential for titillation as far as the older characters are concerned. Unfortunately, as the sex and the comedy are the two major plot elements in a Slice of Life / Gag Series, it's difficult to talk about the series outside the context of sex.
  • Personal Opinion: It's not as explicit as My Balls, but the majority of the erotic content comes from characters in the "15-16 years old" grey area. The younger characters don't form a major part of the fanservice, but underaged nudity is present. Needs Review, leaning towards cutting.

I'd like to request for a second independent reviewer to comment on the manga, if anyone's willing to take up the challenge.tongue

I apologize for touching on things from several pages ago, but since I'm catching up from my absence this weekend I hope it will be forgivable.

If it makes anyone feel any better, I do describe myself as an anime fan, as well as a fan of many other types of media. I don't think that being (or not being) a fan of something means that you can't properly judge it... if so, everyone on the panel would be disqualified for one reason or another. I just do my best to take each work on its own merits, regardless of its point of origin, and try to apply the same standards to each.

On the subject of voting, I've attempted to at least give some level of explanation on how I voted for each work that was being discussed at the time. If anyone finds my explanation lacking, I don't mind you asking for clarification so long as you do it in this thread (since we're not allowed to have PM conversation about P5 business.)

All I ask is that you accept the fact that these calls are going to be subjective, and that even if we see things differently the vote I cast is not meant to be a judgment on the people who enjoy the works (especially since I quite possibly have enjoyed some of those works myself, even if I voted to cut them.)

No worries, Meeble. We appreciate the 5P going out of their way to explain their decisions (even if not obligated to do so), and it's reassuring to know that the cases are being looked at instead of simply being accepted or rejected at face value.

Agent Aika was flagged on the queue. Now, I haven't seen this anime, but from everything I've read it seems like it's a fanservice-heavy show featuring adult characters with no explicit sexual content otherwise.

The page is a bit gushy about the fanservice bits, but this really doesn't seem like the kind of thing that the panel is looking at. Can anyone give a reason why this shouldn't be zapped from the tool, and brought up for clean-up help in the Special Efforts thread?

If it's overly gushy, I think protocol would be to give it the angel votes but recommend it for cleanup.

I'm fine with reviewing and voting on a work if there's something which warrants it, but I'm not seeing anything on this that seems to reflect "porn" or "pedophilia."

I'm just not sure if we want to set the precedent that the Panel will review every show that features fanservice of adult characters, since that would vastly increase the workload and make it harder to get to works that truly run the risk of violating our guidelines.

If there is anything in the work that would make this pornographic or pro-pedophilic, then I have no issues reviewing it. That's why I asked.

I've seen some of Agent Aika because of its repute, and, well, it's really a basic spy comedy with Panty Shot-s. So many panty shots that you pretty much become desensitized to it or just roll your eyes every time you see another one by about a half-hour in.

And all the panty shots are of grown women, thankfully. So, I don't think it needs to be reviewed. Unless you think excess Panty Shots are against the new rules.

I agree with putting Agent Aika for page cleanup... so long as we don't remove the tongue-in-cheek incredulity at the ridiculously copious density of Panty Shots.

That said, there's a difference between spandex where you can see the whole form of the body, and spandex where you can make out nipples and labia. I've seen the later on some anime and that's not so cool.
I don't remember seeing such a thing outside of outright porn (with or without plot). Any particular examples, purely out of curiosity?

Okay, though I was mostly wondering about the "tight enough to see the labia" ones. That would take serious guts on part of the artist to get past the publishers, and on the publishers' part to risk the possibility of Moral Guardians backlash.
