This thread deals with all issues concerning the icons used for namespaces and their buttons, including proposals for icons for new namespaces and bugs with existing icons.
When submitting an icon, the icon images should be exactly 16x16 png with a transparent background. A gif can also be used, but png is usually better. Also, the naming convention is important. It should be the namespace in lowercase.
I am compiling a list of namespaces that need icons, and icons for those name spaces. This would be preferred to be done quickly because I've convinced Eddie to hook them up when I get them complied. I will be editing the OP as we go.
NOTE: Use the link to the sandbox in the thread title to see what still needs to be decided on.
Subpages that still need icons:
- Animation/
- FanWorks/
- Manhua/
- Sandbox/
- Timeline/
Subpages that already have icons hooked up (please note, this list has been collapsed into a note, so that the floating header post isn't huge)
Links to installation-ready icons here and forward.
pages that have icons

I don't see why other tropes/audience reactions such as Shout-Out or Funny Moments can get their own icons, but not Narm, since there are many works that have Narm subpages.
70. There are 70 Narm pages. Out of almost 300,000 pages. Still, I suppose an icon could be of use for a small button.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyAn Art/Artwork namespace have been suggested and discussed in a couple of other threads. I think it got some approval and noone was against it.
There's (currently) no pages in Art and Artwork. So should we make one of them official and give it an icon?
I wouldn't be against an Art namespace, and I guess that the icon can be Mona Lisa or something well known like that. Also, I wouldn't mind it if Narm gets an icon without text. There seems to be more Narm pages than Fanon Discontinuity pages, and the latter has an icon with text.
I'd actually go for a palette, personally.
That's... weird. I wouldn't have considered that a namespace worthy of an icon, if it were up to me (it's not, but hypothetically!).
Moon◊A palette is a pretty good idea for an Art namespace. For Narm, I have no idea.
I don't really see the added benefit in either Art or Narm having their own namespaces or icons, TBH.
Narm/ has to have a namespace for the examples. Putting them all in one page would make the servers explode.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think an Art namespace is a good idea because tropes can apply to works of art, and an Art namespace allows us to make work pages for works of art without either putting them in Main or listing the tropes on the page of the artist.
Are there that many individual works of art that, as individual pieces, are trope worthy enough to require an entire page to themselves? For example, can you think of ten or more tropes that apply specifically to the Mona Lisa?
Or would it be better, if you can think of tropes appropriate to some of da Vinci's works, to go to Creator/LeonardoDaVinci, add a bit that says, "Tropes associated with some of his works include:", and go on from there?

Boy Scouts ½: the most gratuitous self insert fic, ever! Read, if you dare!Good points. An Art/ namespace for artists is probably a better idea. If most people think that's unnecessary, putting the tropes on the Creator/ page works too. I don't know a lot about art and would like to hear the opinion of someone who's interested in art.
Artists goes in the creator namespace.
Yes, the Mona lisa would probably better go in the Leonardo da Vinci, but there is other art that's more tropy and art made by an unknown artist.
Now that you mention it, an Art namespace for art by unknown artists, art made by several artists or particularly tropy art might not be a bad idea. That is, if we have tropers that are interested in making pages for art and artists. If we're going to make Art/ for that, why not put artists in Art/ when we use Music/ for musicians and Let's Play/ for Let's Players?
Artists are a type of Creator. Creators go in the creator namespace.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. This reminds me of the argument we had in the Overhauling Page Creation thread a while back over the use of Creator pages as a proxy for page-less Literature works and whether or not the analogy with wrestlers, Let's Players, and musicians justified making Literature pages for creators.
My argument then - that wrestlers, Let's Players, and musicians are as much characters as creators, and their corpus could conceivably be viewed as a whole - would seem to mitigate against making pages for creators in an Art namespace (especially the former argument), but I don't think we ever really settled the matter (I split it out into a separate thread pretty much at the exact moment it died).

Also, this is a topic for discussing namespace icons - we have a different topic for Suggesting New Namespaces in Wiki Talk.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBumping. Shall we ask Eddie to install the other icons that have been approved in the meantime?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMight as well.
A post with a link to all the new images would be great.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyHere you go: Cleaned Headscratchers/ icon◊, Cleaned ImageLinks/ icon◊, Cleaned PlayingWith/ icon◊, ReferencedBy/ icon◊, TropeCo/ icon◊, UsefulNotes/ icon◊ and Wiki/ icon◊. As well as m8e's zip file a few pages back.
I would also consider whether to install these icons so that they display on the Changes and Edit Reason pages.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThis one should be up to date with all the current icons.

Facepalming Picard for Wallbangers?
Seconded.
Although I don't know if that would translate well to an icon.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseWell I thought that seeing as how Facepalming Picard is the usual response to a stupid comment on a image board, so I though would fit...but the page is called "Wallbangers" so a button of a head slamming against a wall would probably work better...Seeing as it's called "Wallbangers" and not "Facepalm Worthy".

The icons are only really useful when they make a distinction about a title that could be the same in another namespace. That shouldn't crop up with trope names. I realize a work title could show up in a number of different trope namespaces, but the usual case is for it to be something like Narm.A To B.
