I didn't watch the video, because when I first saw it I didn't have the time, just noticed the thumbnail. Now that I've heard more about what it's about, I have no interest to watch it either. That thumbnail completely gives the impression that the devs behind Dead Cells were caught plagiarizing something. Jim should be a pro enough to not make a mistake like that.

You can't spell ignorance without IGN
You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price. It looks like it's been confirmed the IGN reviewer did, in fact, plagiarize. IGN has fired reviewer Filip Miucin after an investigation into his accusations of plagiarism.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit.Sad that someone lost their job but the dude deserves it.
You do the crime so reap the punishment.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I only feel bad for anyone who relied on him financially.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI don't think it's sad at all. He knowingly did something wrong, got caught, and was punished appropriately.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. It’s more a jerk reaction to the idea someone lost a job.
Once who the person is & what they did is then considered a second later all sadness is lost & replaced with “Eh he deserves it.”

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Good for IGN for sacking him, removing the review, and condemning the plagiarism. I will be generous and assume this isn't just them covering their own asses. That would of course, imply they were aware of the Youtube reviewer in question.
On the topic of servers and multiplayer...fun fact, when I watch trailers or reviews for new games, say Pokemon for example, and multiplayer/online features come up, my immediate reaction is "Oh great, more online for them to shut down". That's my immediate Pavlov's Dog reaction. I do longer instinctively think of that as a net positive. The TRIPLE AY! game industry has done what they have always done: they tainted it.
Plus after Jimbo's video about The Culling ect. it just reinforces something I've been thinking for years....the video game industry needs to wean itself off online. I know that shit ain't going to happen, the TRIPLE A video game industry probably loves the possibility of being able to sell you a "Replacement Goldfish" but seriously, making so much of this shit online only renders shit like the Culling 2 ect a complete waste of talent and resources. Fun fact, whenever a game shuts down, the thing I always think I'll miss is the music. Not to mention the extensive voice work that many of these games have. Nowadays split-screen multiplayer is considered a novel feature because of how rarely it's featured in games these days (my friends who like to come over and have us play split-screen COD matches stuck with Black Ops 2 and never looked back because that was the last one to have 4-player split screen.) Fuck, even the single player games aren't fully offline because you need the fucking patches. Fun fact, an unpatched version of the Wii Game The Conduit is 100% unwinnable due to a glitch in the first or second level where a door fails to open. You need to download the patch....the option to do so is buried in the multiplayer menu...the multiplayer that Nintendo shut down....WAA WAA. Yeah, that shit needs to fucking die.
On the topic of The Wii shop channel, yep, I bought a not-insignificant number of Wii Ware games and Virtual Console re-releases that aren't available on any other digital storefront and transferred all my Wii stuff over to the Wii U about 2 nights before they shut down the Transfer Tool. Spent a few hundred doing so. Zero regrets. I look forward to firing up the exclusive Blaster Master, Contra and Castlevania remakes sometime in the future.
Returning to an earlier thought:
To quote Dr. Dre in Straight Outta Compton (and, I assume, in real life)
"Fuck 'em. They already bought the C Ds."
On the topic of wiiware is their any unofficial way to get the servers back up,after they go down
You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price.Even id is being hit by this, though id is a bit of a Theseus' ship since the original awesome people have all left.
When Quake III was released in 1999, the idea of a non-fighting game designed as a multiplayer experience was surprising and novel. Since it was 1999, the idea of id maintaining a bunch of their own servers was absurd; indeed, the game was, quite naturally, intended for LAN play. Internet play was also entirely possible, but players would have to set up their own servers.
Quake III will soon get a sequel in the form of Quake Champions, a game which is designed for Internet play... and require's id's servers, because they're including achievements and DLC. Yup, this is another one that's going to become unplayable when the servers go down, and since the hackers have gone, the engine won't be open-sourced.

Ukrainian Red CrossIf anything, though, I will say I think this is a boon to Dead Cells. It has raised awareness of the game due to the relatively high profile nature of this particular journalistic scandal. Kind of like it did for Cuphead, it's drawing people in due to awareness because of the scandal piquing interest in people who now want to play it when they looked into the game in question.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit.Certainly did, I picked up the game, didn't hear of it till this controversy came out.
Really glad I did too. It's very good.
Ubisoft canned the Switch port of Steep without telling anyone, including apparently Nintendo themselves.
With the poor reception We Happy Few has gotten, I bet Jim Sterling is gonna make a video on how he was right about it getting the "Triple A" treatment hurt it as an indie game.
Watch SymphogearAnd because it's Gearbox, Jim's gonna have a field day.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Sucks, too. It looked so promising. But Jim is the living embodiment of "Predict the worst and you will be hailed as a prophet" when it comes to his predictions for the video game industry.
Qui odoratus est qui fecit. So I can assume We Happy Few did not live up to expectations?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."A rather promising concept on ruthlessly ripping apart Happiness Is Mandatory that ends up being drowned out in mediocre Micromanagement gameplay.

Watch SymphogearHonestly, the game never had good gameplay in the first place, so I wouldn't absolve the developers entirely.
Hey, remember when publishers were going after used games? Turns out they still are.
Pete Hines did explain that they were not against selling used games, they were against the seller calling it 'new' when it was not
Edited by Ultimatum on Aug 12th 2018 at 3:42:35 PM
New theme music also a boxAnd Bethesda's reasoning behind the threat is the seller isn't giving a warranty or some bullshit like that. There's even people saying the guy should have sold the game as "Used-Like New" instead. Unless the meanings changed when I wasn't looking, everyone accepted that any item still sealed and was never opened is considered to be brand new. Used, but like new is too broad to be used the same way; it could be factory sealed or it could be simply opened but kept in good condition.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. And yet it was new and unopened.
The statement about it being semantics is... slightly reassuring, at least, given how quickly they clarified that I can only assume it's genuinely about that and not just them ragging on used games in general.
However, that still means they're arguing semantics and threatening to sue one guy just because his still-factory-sealed-game isn't "new" by their own standards. So it's still kinda cruddy.
