Star Wars meets The (slightly distant) Future: The Civil War

In a world where both the Star Wars fictional franchise and an all too real Jedi Order coexist, the Sith finally appear and leave their permanent, bloody mark on human history.

Okay, so basically, this is an RP about a world where Force-Sensitives are publicly discovered, form a real-life version of the Jedi Order, and humanity has begun its expansion into the Solar System. It is now the year 2130, and the Civil War is about to begin. My goal is to create an RP that allows players to play through a variety of war scenarios in the Civil War from beginning to end as a Jedi, Sith, or whatever they can think of.

Rules:

• 1. No godmodding, bunnying, metagaming, spotlight-stealing, etc.
• 2. Use good grammar and spellcheck. Minor mistakes are excusable, just beware if I'm having a bad day IRL.
• 3. If your character dies (which is very likely), you can play as someone else. Just enter a new bio.
• 4. Only 3 characters per alignment, for a total of nine characters. I wouldn't recommend making nine bios anyway.
• 5. Contribution and collaboration are helpful. Seeing as I'm human and can only make so many scenarios over a ten-year narrative, I would appreciate any input from others on how to progress the RP and make new and interesting war scenarios.
• 6. Have fun!

Premise: A world where Force-Sensitives exist while the Star Wars franchise does as well, where fiction blurs with a new reality. In the world of man, the Jedi Order influences its expansion from the near future to the 22th Century. Meanwhile, a group of Sith Lords begin their campaign to overthrow the Solar Republic, beginning the bloodiest Civil War in history.

• Time: A.D. 2130-2140

• Tech: Laser weapons, lightsabers, starships, hyperspace travel, etc. Basically, any tech typical for a futuristic setting.

• Populations:
  • Earth: 10 billion
    • The Moon: 900 million
  • Mars: 4 billion
  • Venus: 4 billion

• History:J
  • 2020: Force-Sensitives are discovered. Terraforming of Mars, Venus, and the Moon begins when the UN reveals the approval of the secret project.
  • 2030: Laser weapons are made and replace guns. Lightsabers are invented for Jedi as crystals are discovered under Antarctica.
  • 2040: Jedi Order is formed as the Temple is finished and begins with 10,000 members. Earth's population is over 9 billion, with world governments trying to stave off world starvation.
  • 2020 - 2100: Hyperspace travel is tested, improved, and completed as the population reaches 12 billion, and resources are thinned.
  • c. 2040 - Present Time: Other six forms of lightsaber combat and lightsaber customizations are developed as the Jedi increase and become international and, eventually, interplanetary guardians.
  • c. 2100: Colonization of the Moon, Mars, and Venus begins and the Solar Republic is formed with Earth as the capital planet. Earth's population decreases to 9 billion to manage resources while "The Exodus" occurs as over 3 billion people are moved to Mars, Venus, and the Moon over the next few years by large starships called the Continent Series. The Jedi follow in order to keep the peace.
  • c. 2120: The current Solar Republic is formed as people who moved to the ET Territories build nations. The Jedi Order officially extends its jurisdiction to the ET Territories. People migrate from Earth to Venus, Mars, and the Moon to find jobs and places to live.
  • 2130-2140: The Civil War breaks out as a third of all Force Sensitives reveal themselves to be under the leadership of Darth Magus, the defected Jedi Grandmaster and inventor of Form 2. It becomes the first war to cost over a billion lives. A third of all Force Sensitives turn to the dark side and take up lightsabers with synthetic crystals.

• Planets:
  • Earth: The capital planet of the Solar Republic. It has undergone many pro-environment and philanthropic changes. There are now several underground and floating cities on Earth that has allowed for a higher manageable population with fewer in poverty. The Jedi Temple here is located near the South Pole in Antarctica.
  • Mars: The most rural, industrialized, and warlike of the three planets. It has the most droid armies due to being the main supplier of droids. The majority of the population is of South American, African, or Middle East descent. The Jedi Temple here is located near Olympus Mons. Its history is filled with tension and war, having been the base-planet of the Sith during the Civil War.
  • Venus: The least polluted and more peaceful of the three planets. It is home to many artists, scientists, teachers, and philosophers. It has been called the "The Farming Planet" due to its large farming areas. The majority of people here are of European or Asian descent. The Jedi Temple here is located where the prime meridian and the equator of Venus meet.
  • The Moon: Though technically an extraterrestrial country of Earth, the Moon is a unique unto itself. There are 4 kinds of communities on the Moon: those on the ground, under it, floating through its seas, and those towering over the ground. To elaborate, the Moon is covered in skyscrapers that exist close to each other, resulting in a culture in the clouds that never touches the ground.

• Government:
  • The Solar Republic is made of around 400 nations. Earth has about 200, Venus and Mars each have around 100, and the Moon is one nation due to its small size. It is actually the only extraterrestrial country of Earth.
  • Each of the Republic's planets' nations' leaders elects a planetary leader, called a Minister, to represent the interests of their planet as a whole. The leader of the entire Solar Republic is called the Chancellor, who is elected by the all three planets out of the three Ministers.
  • Each planet has their own version of the United Nations, now called the Terran Union. Mars has the Martian Union and Venus has the Venusian Union.
  • Though each planet has its own police forces, the Jedi are the only interplanetary police force of the Solar Republic. There are about 180,000 Force-Sensitives, who are born 1 in 100,000. Almost all of them become Jedi, though non-Jedi Force Sensitives are highly valued employees.
  • The Solar Republic is currently looking into colonizing other bodies in the outer Solar System, though no real progress has been made yet.

• The Order:
  • The Jedi Order is much like its fictional counterpart, though with fewer of its failings. This is because the Order borrows many elements from its franchise counterparts, but tries to avoid its failings that lead to its destruction in the film series and other times in the expanded universe.
  • Each of the three planets has a Jedi Temple, the primary Temple being the one on Earth. Each one is located over the largest deposit of Lumi crystals on each planet, which give lightsabers their blade color and assist in powering them. All Jedi, no matter what their preferences are, are trained to use a laser pistol and a standard lightsaber.
  • The Jedi is connected to the Solar Republic, but isn't subordinate to it. There is plenty of tension between the two organizations due to this fact and that the Order is also the most powerful army to exist. Because of this, Jedi don't hold any official political offices, only acting officially as peacekeepers and ambassadors, and unofficially as advisors.
  • The Jedi Order is organized into five ranks: Initiate, Padawan, Knight, Master, and Grand Master. Force-Sensitives begin as Initiates and train until a Knight decides to take them in as a Padawan. Then they become a duo, working together in missions while the master trains the apprentice. If the Padawan succeeds in his training and becomes a K Fnight, his master also ascends to the rank of Jedi Master. Although there are other methods of becoming a Master, this is the most traditional way.
  • The Grand Master is the Jedi equivalent of a Minister, the leader of all Jedi from their respective planet. They are chosen out of the 15 members of their planet's Council, by majority vote. They act as the 3 leaders of the Jedi Order, the wisest and most powerful in the Force. The three Grand Masters are called the Trinity Council, due to always being three Grand Masters at any time. The Grand Masters act as advisors to their planet's Minister, and all three advise the Chancellor.

• Warfare:
  • Bullet-using guns have become obsolete, used by only the poorest of fighters. Blasters have now replaced them, firing deadly flashes of colored light, the color depending on the blaster.
  • Starships are now used for combat in space, armed with laser turrets, railguns, and other high-scale weaponry.
  • Droids are now built as artificial armies, but also assist in daily living. Cybernetic adjustments help the disabled become whole, or even more than human, turning them into valuable infantry.
  • There are seven standard forms for lightsaber combat. Form 1 is taught to all Jedi of the Solar Republic. All seven forms were invented on Earth, but different forms have become more popular on different planets. Forms 2 and 3 are the most popular on Venus, Forms 4 and 7 are most popular on Mars, and Forms 5 and 6 are the most popular on Earth and the Moon.
  • There are also unarmed adaptations for each Form, in the event that a Jedi becomes disarmed. Both the lightsaber and unarmed Jedi combat forms share the same names and numbers.
  • The reasons for each form's invention varies, but the fact that they were made at all means one thing: there are those who would use their powers for much darker purposes, and lightsabers would cross each other in combat when the Jedi would try to thwart them.

• Sith: Secretly active from as early as 2100, the Sith were founded and led by the inventor and original master of Form 2, who became Darth Magus. They tried to usurp the fledgling Republic, which caused the decade-long Civil War (2130-2140).
  • The Dark Lord:
    • Darth Magus: Curved-hilt blue lightsaber, Form 2
  • His Apprentices:
    • Darth Venus: Double-bladed purple lightsaber, Form 3,
    • Darth Colossus: Red lightclub, Form 5
    • Darth Nosos: Dual green lightsabers, Form 4

• Age: Realistic, please. (Special note for Sith: must be at least around 25)
• Gender: Male or Female (duh)
• Homeworld: Earth, Venus, or Mars
• Alignment: Republic, Empire, or Neutral
• Family: Any relatives living or dead. Includes any spouses or children.
• Occupation: Ask me if you want to be something other than Jedi or Sith.
• Equipment: Anything your character uses that doesn't fit anywhere else.

• Badass Normal Section:
• Heavy Weapon: Gatling guns, rocket launchers, mortars, etc. These will slow your character down in combat.
• Medium Weapon: Machine guns, flamethrowers, sniper rifles, etc. If your character doesn't wield a Heavy Weapon, they may carry two of these.
• Light Weapon: Pistols and their ilk go. Characters may have up to two of them.
• Melee Weapon: Knives, vibro-blades/axes, boomclubs, shockhammer, and anything else you can think of goes here. Vibro-axes/blades, boomclubs and shockhammers count as Medium Weapons.
• Explosives: Grenades and their ilk here. Carry no more than four.
• Armor: Light, Medium, and Heavy. The tougher your armor, the slower you are. Pieces of different kinds of armor can be worn at the same time (Example: A character wears a Heavy chestplate and Light greaves with Medium gauntlets).

• Appearance: Hal wears a black, sleeved, and hooded cloak. It is part of his equipment as a Shadow, cloaking his heat signatures and making his clothes cold to the touch. He wears a brown long-sleeved shirt and a pair of gray jeans under his cloak. His shoes complement his cloak, removing the heat signatures from his steps and allowing him to walk on surfaces such as walls or ceilings. His gloves do the same things as his shoes, are also armored to resist lasers. Hal wears Medium laser-resistant armor on his chest, back, and shoulders, as well as Medium laser-resistant greaves that protect his calves, shins, and knees. He looks like a typical man of his ethnicity, with tan brown skin, black hair, and brown eyes. He is 5'10" and weighs about 165 lbs.

• Personality: Hal is a quiet, calm person. This serves him well as a Shadow, as many of his missions require patience and a low profile. He is very bitter inside after his years as a Shadow; he is very penitent for the things he has done for the survival of the Republic. He hopes to find atonement and inner peace if he decides to retire. Hal is patient and has a great desire to bring inside himself and between others, which is what made him a Consular to begin with. He knows many of the tricks as a Shadow, and is pragmatic enough to use them. He is also very keen in thinking ahead, allowing him to manipulate political and combat situations for the greater good.

• History: Hal is descended from Filipinos from Earth who moved to Venus when he was five to find a living on a new planet. When he was found to be Force-sensitive, he received most of his education on the floating Jedi Temple on Venus. He would develop a very black-and-white view to the world, which prompted him to become a Shadow after ascending to Jedi Knight at 25. However after ten years, his view had become more realistic as Hal acknowledged what he had done. He hopes to retire from his career and live a peaceful retirement.

• Appearance: Darth Talon is a robot from the hips down. His legs have been replaced with a pair like General Grievous', with a special attachment to his hind. On his backside there is a train of special cloth with flexible metal that can fold like a fan. There is technology implanted that can allow him to fly when he spreads out this fan, which has a length of 10 feet. Smith is 5' 11" and weighs about 210 lbs due to his cybernetic half. He has blood-red eyes and white hair, with pale white skin to match. On his upper half he wears a white robe with slight black trim. 
• Personality: Darth Talon is basically a human version of Lord Shen. Will be elaborated upon later.
• History: Smith was born in 2180 to very wealthy parents. In fact, they were the greatest donor to the construction of the Jedi Temple on Mars. Smith wasn't always a cyborg, the first twenty-five years of his life were as a whole human. Smith had always had an ambition to be great and respected by his distant parents, who were worried about his obsession with power in the Force. When they found out he was ordering weapons, his parents consulted an old Jedi who was known for her accurate visions of the future. When she foretold that a man from a nearby country they lived in would defeat Smith should he continue to seek power, Smith had overheard her and promptly slaughtered the majority of that country with his private army, killing over 1.5 million people in a month, hiding it from the public until it was too late. Near the end of the genocide, Smith stepped on a mine that destroyed his legs, which forced him to replace his lower half with the legs he has now. After his parents and the Jedi Order disowned him for this atrocity, Smith and his men went into hiding as hunted terrorists. He was found in secret by Darth Magus in 2110, who recruited him with promises of revenge and power.

Oh, wow. Your bio sucks, friend. Allow me to count the ways:

• 1. Your bio is completely off from the format. Labels are missing, entire parts are missing or out of order, etc. Fix it.
• 2. Your occupation is impossible in-universe. As a Force Sensitive, you are either Jedi or Sith. The Order would not have missed someone when searching for other Force Sensitives.
• 3. Your character has too much equipment, especially one concerning an item that doesn't exist yet.
• 4. You seem to be confusing paired lightsabers with Dual phase lightsabers. Do your research next time.
• 5. As a Force Sensitive, you would have a Jedi/Sith section, which. Is entirely missing.
• 6. Make sure that your bio lines up with the format.

• Family: Parents and a little sister, all of the which she doesn't know very well since she was taken to the temple early in life.

Alightnment: Republic.

• Occupation: Jedi
• Equipment: Communicator, breathing apparatus, rations.
• Other: Stuffed animal in her room.
• Appearance: Shoulder length dark red hair, green eyes, regular height and an athletic build. A pretty face spoiled only by her usual sour expressions. Has a youthful air around her that is mostly influenced by her attitudes and her emotional state. Tends to wear the plain brown robes of the order at almost all times, only changing into another attire when requested by others. Wears very light Jedi armor on her chest in order to impede her movements as little as possible. She is 165 cm tall and weights 55 kg. She is Caucasian.
• Personality:
  • Jane is a girl with a very limited control over her emotions... which would prove to be the reigning problem in her life. The intensity of her emotions tends to sweep her away, making her act in the spur of the moment only to regret it later when she regains control of herself. Of course, she hates intensely this aspect of herself as it is completely unbecoming of somebody who follows the Jedi code to give in to anger and strange moods all the time. Now that she has become a Padawan, she does her best to avoid things that will set her off and to remain calm and levelheaded. Surprisingly, she does have a good head over her shoulders and when not caught in her moods she can be very insightful and understanding.

  • Another important aspect of Janine is that she is a very physical person. As such she enjoys combat, exercise... and physical contact with other people, which she tries to avoid as much as possible as it is another thing she knows is looked down upon by the Jedi code. This coupled with the intensity of her emotions leave her incredibly frustrated when she has to hold back on expressing her feelings even to the people she cares about. Many times she has had the desire to give a simple hug to her teacher when praised for doing well... and at all times she has had to hold her feelings in check, leaving her with a deep feeling of emptiness and unfulfillment. To compensate for this she keeps a stuffed toy in her room to hug on her free time... However she finds this terribly embarrassing, not to mention an affront to the Code, so when not using it Jane keeps it very well hidden.

  • The last noteworthy aspect of her personality... is a lack of identification with the Jedi code. She knows the words to heart and when conscious about it she tries to follow them to the letter... But she just cannot feel the deeper connection and belonging to it than many of her peers demonstrate. As such this makes her terribly self conscious. She wants, more than anything, to be a good member of the Jedi Order and to make proud the many good people that have raised her within it, those who are her true family... However, her emotional outbursts, her deep need for physical contact and her inability to connect with the Jedi Code, which describes a person who is so far away from who she really is make her feel like there is a deep gulf between her and her peers, a distance which makes her an outcast among all those she was raised with and whose she deeply loves... And in the back of her mind fosters a horrible fear of being rejected and cast out of the Order. This last fear tends to manifest in the form of some recurring nightmares.
• History: As for history, Janine hasn't had all that much happen to her yet. Besides her daily struggles with her own emotions and beliefs, she's the daughter of a humble pair of merchants from Earth. She lived a total of four years with them before she was found to be a Force Sensitive with a good deal of potential.
• Rank: Padawan
• Apprentice/Master: Unknown yet, please adopt a teenager with deep emotional issues today~
• Style: 1-7: Ataru practitioner, though she falls into the Shii-Cho (Which also suits her style pretty well and was taught to her in basic training) when outnumbered or forced into tight confines.
• Lightsaber: Two twin light sabers, both with green blades. The hilts are simple in design, slightly longer than usual, thin and almost perfectly cylindrical in shape.A little bit in this◊ style, though without any engravings.
• Powers: Saber Throw, Precognition, Telekinesis, Force Throw, Force Push, Force Pull, Force Leap, Farsight, Force Speed, Heal and training to use Force Wave. To her distress, her powerful emotions make her suited to use Dark Side force powers... though she has so far blocked herself from even considering the possibilities... though she has come very close to use Force Rage in the past.

• Family: She does have a brother that lives on Venus and works as a musician.
• Occupation: Jedi.
• Equipment: Breathing apparatus and a communicator.
• Other: Atelia wears lightweight robes with some pieces of armour for ease of movement.

• Appearance: Atelia is a beautiful woman of Caucasian etnicity with mid-back length black hair, a pretty face and dark-brown eyes. She stands 5,51 ft (168 cm) tall and weights 123,4 lb (56 kg).
• Personality: Atelia is rather controversial for a Jedi, while she believes that the Jedi Code is mostly good she also believes that in order to understand the people they are supposed to help you need to embrace some emotions such as joy and the like, but also sorrow. Otherwise she's quite the positive and straightforward person, if a bit hotheaded, and a bit of a Bunny-Ears Lawyer.
• History: Atelia was taken to the temple at a very young age and quickly showed her talent and aptitude in swordsmanship as soon as she got access to a training saber, even managing to best her master when she was a teenager. She served alongside her master for several years until one mission when they were sent to a small hamlet on Venus with the objective of investigating reports of a rising militia group that could pose a serious threat to the surrounding area. It all went smooth and quietly until they got led into an ambush and Atelia's master was gravely wounded by a hail of blaster fire. Atelia managed to support him and fend off the attackers and call for support. After that incident she was knighted and her master got an entirely new leg.

Jedi/Sith Section (optional):

• Rank: Knight.
• Apprentice/Master: Looking for troubled teen with serious issues to be Padawan.
• Style: 1-7: Atelia mostly uses Form VII Juyo but it also have some other styles mixed in, most notably Form VI Niman, Form V Shien and a little Form IV Ataru. She is also a skilled practitioner of Jar'Kai (The Art of dual-wielding swords)
• Lightsaber: One the looks pretty much exactly like this◊ and one short lightsaber with this design◊
• Powers: Atelia has control of most of the basic ones (Force push, pull, telekinesis and the like) but also have the ability to use powers such as Force Speed, Mind trick, some basic Force Healing, Stun, Channeling force through her body to increase it's prowess (Force Valor I think it's called) and Force Deflection.

Fixed! I also altered her force abilities a little too, and the lightsaber colours are as they are seen in the pictures

Yeah, if this is still running I have to ask how do firearms go up against Jedi?

Because in Star Wars canon, slugthrowers (or firearms) are shown to do a better job against Jedi than blasters and automatic slugthrowers are downright dangerous to them.

Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.

By the way, this is still running.

There are several firearms that could go up against Jedi, like you said. Flamethrowers, rocket launchers, railguns, etc. If you want a non-Jedi character, I suppose you could wield a gun that is an Expy of whatever is in the canon that you want your character to wield. I'll try to find some time in the weekend to add a section in the bio format for the Badass Normals.

Me again. Sorry about the lack of formatting. I'm still trying to figure this stuff out. EDIT: Got the hang of it.

Family: Both parents are dead, and his younger brother is another Jedi's Padawan.
Occupation: Jedi Consular
Equipment: A black blindfold.

• Appearance: Yellow eyes that he covers with his blindfold, shoulder length black hair that he ties back in a ponytail, about 6 feet tall, and slightly underweight. On his chin is a rough goatee that already has a streak of grey in it. Rarely seen outside of his Jedi robes, but, when he is out of them, several nasty-looking scars are visible on his back and arms.
  
• Personality: To Janus, the darker aspects of the Force are simply a tool that the Jedi haven't fully mastered yet. That said, he understands exactly how dangerous this tool is. When not in combat, he is normally so cool and controlled that it becomes almost creepy. His experiences with the "dark side" nearly broke him, however, and sometimes, in the heat of battle, his carefully errected seals begin to crack.
  
• History: Shortly after being made a Knight, Janus excersized his newfound freedom in the most reckless way he could: Tampering with powers he didn't fully understand. At first, they were small tests, experiments to see what the Force could do with the proper mindset, but when these experiments were testing in a sparring session, something cracked inside the new Knight's mind and he wound up very nearly killing his opponent. While he managed to play it off as getting carried away, another incident, one that he refuses to talk about and the Council itself is tight-lipped about, made it apparent that something was wrong with the young Knight. Scared out of his wits by the rage and urge to kill that had entered his mind, Janus retreated from the Order and sealed himself in his chambers, hoping to fix whatever he had damaged within himself. Nearly a year later, having sustained himself through sheer force of will and, well, the Force, Janus emerged from his meditation a changed man. In only a year, he had lost the youthful bravado that had driven him to take such insane risks and replaced it with a cool, calculating mindset. Despite his experiences with the "dark side", Janus remains one of the more vocal and stalwart defenders of learning to harness its volitile energies. Recently, he has made it known that he is looking to take on an apprentice, preferably one who is particularly talented with manipulating the Force.
