This thread's for all of the X-Men comics and spin-offs (X-Force, X-Factor, New Mutants etc.), whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate X-Men, X-Men 2099, X-Men "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- X-Men 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Wolverine, Deadpool, Ms. Marvel and Cable.
- Characters and comics that originated in X-Men and its related books but are no longer connected to the franchise are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their X-Men related stories here.
Discussions that are only about X-Men adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
I have to say that the X Men franchise has been going on for decades. Maybe not as many as the Superman franchise has, but it still has quite a number to it.
One thing I am certain of is that the franchise seems to be subverting Status Quo Is God in recent years. Magneto and Professor Xavier seem to be fading into the background, with Cyclops and Wolverine taking their places. A lot of villains associated to the X-Men have been killed off and have actually stayed dead so far.
All this gives me the general impression that the franchise is trying to reinvent itself. Do you think that's what's going on here?

Well, she isn't the Phoenix anymore — she told the Phoenix Force to fuck off and leave her alone, actually — so why not? Although the mask seems a bit silly, considering everyone already knows her name.
Banshee's apparently back already, that's good. Wonder if anyone else on Rosenberg's hit list made it.
Well the look isn’t really complete without the mask. Really though it probably is one of her better costumes even if it looks a bit silly.

I have to say my big fear for this run is that it'll ultimately come down (presumably after several years knowing Hickman) on the side of Xavier being a Dangerous Radical whose plan for improving things for mutants is Bad because of Reasons and the X-Men turn against him to Restore The Good Old Status Quo.
Do we even know he's doing a full run yet? I just thought it was the 2 mini's and that's it.

X6 Because of muh nostalgia.
Mileena MadnessSo apparently the new U-Go Girl is the original's daughter, who was a toddler in the original series and has... now aged in... real time.
Wut.
That makes no Goddamn sense.
Surely the writers realized that comics haven't used Realtime since the 60's?
Eh, we can handwave anything. Let's just say that she was living in an area of the planet that wasn't affected by Marvel Time and that's it.
Also, everyone knows that it's only the main characters who don't age — everyone else around them ages and time goes on. Heck, even Gwenpool knew that, when she visited her biggest fan when she was a child and also an old lady about to die.

Okay, so on Friday, Hickman teased Marvel's Next Big Thing Panel with this tweet. It's a substitution cipher and, when decoded, reads: XMEN MARAUDERS EXCALIBUR XFORCE NEW MUTANTS FALLEN ANGELS. Which, if we take it to indicate all of the post-HOX/POX X-books, that we're getting:
- X-Men (flagship book written by Hickman)
- Marauders (huh, bad guy book? there's never been a Marauders book before)
- Excalibur (nice, a new Excalibur book)
- X-Force (classic X-book)
- New Mutants (another classic X-book and I hope they bring back Rahne)
- Fallen Angels (holy crap, a new Fallen Angels book — the last one was a weird mini-series written by Jo Duffy in the '80s and involved Sunspot, Warlock, Multiple Man, and Gomi and Bill the Lobster)
The one thing I'm concerned about is that these are all team books and there doesn't appear to be any solo titles. I expected at least one or two solo titles.
Geez, how did anyone decode that?
After seeing what the Gravity Falls fandom did with ciphers, I'm not even surprised the internet cracked this one too.

Looks like Rosenburg's killing spree is being undone in record time.
Okay, everybody, HERE WE GO! DAWN OF X!
- "We've lied to you a lot, extensively," said Hickman.
- MARAUDERS by GERRY DUGGAN and MATTEO LOLLI
- There are six MARAUDERS - PYRO, ICEMAN, STORM, BISHOP, EMMA FROST, and KITTY PRYDE
- Lockheed is also there.
- "We're taking a traditional name and a concept you don't know about yet, and it looks like a bunch of nonsense, but it's brilliant. If we told you the pitch right now it wouldn't make sense.
- EXCALIBUR is written by TINI HOWARD with art from MARCUS TO
- EXCALIBUR is RICTOR, JUBILEE, GAMBIT, PSYLOCKE - AKA CAPTAIN BRITAIN, and APOCALYPSE.
- "Tini's a hell of a writer - she's gonna be around forever."
- Confirmed - PSYLOCKE is now officially the new CAPTAIN BRITAIN.
- X-FORCE from writer BEN PERCY and artist JOSHUA CASSARA.
- X-FORCE is WOLVERINE, MARVEL GIRL/JEAN GREY, DOMINO, BEAST, KID OMEGA, SAGE, COLOSSUS, and BLACK TOM.
- Jean Grey appears to back to MARVEL GIRL in her NEAL ADAMS costume.
- FALLEN ANGELS by BRYAN EDWARD HILL and SZYMON KUDRANSKI
- FALLEN ANGELS is ANGEL, ANGEL, and ARCHANGEL
- JUST KIDDING
- It's X-23, CABLE, and PSYLOCKE - NOT Betsy Braddock. Maybe KWANNON?
- NEW MUTANTS from JONATHAN HICKMAN, ED BRISSON, and ROD REIS
- Hickman will write the first arc with Ed Brisson taking over after that.
- New Mutants has 8 members - MAGIK, SUNSPOT, CYPHER, MIRAGE, KARMA, WOLFSBANE, CHAMBER, and MONDO.
- WOLFSBANE and CHAMBER are back from the dead.
- "I'm doing the first arc of this to set up stuff that's gonna matter years from now," said Hickman.
- X-MEN FROM JONATHAN HICKMAN AND LEINIL FRANCIS YU
- X-MEN is an "all encompassing mutant title".
- The cover features Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Corsair, and more.
Wave 2 of titles is already in the works.
LEAH WILLIAMS, VITA AYALA, and more will work on future titles in the line.
So we have confirmed that the following characters are back from the dead: Banshee, Havok, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, and Chamber. (Also, Mondo? Didn't he die a while ago?) And Magik is back, too. Also, maybe Kwannon? I didn't think she died in Rosenberg's run, only stabbed a bit. Also, one of the images on the screen was of Multiple Man, so he's probably alive again, too.
Also: I did not predict any of these writers aside from Hickman. I am glad that Leah Williams and Vita Ayala will be a part of Wave 2, though.

Um...the last time Psylocke was Captain Britain didn't she lose her damned eyeballs?
Also, what happened to Brian?
One Strip! One Strip!Brian might be retired now, since he has a baby.
And now the covers and solicits for all of these books.
The main X-Men team appears to be Cyclops, Wolverine, Rachel Summers, Jean Grey, Havok, Cable, Corsair, and someone in the way back I don't recognize (if it's Vulcan, than we have a Summers family reunion).
Holy shit, the Mauraders are literal pirates: "Led by Captain Kate Pryde and funded by Emma Frost and the Hellfire Trading Company, Marauders Storm, Pyro, Bishop and Iceman sail the seas of the world to protect those hated and feared!"
Confirmed: Kwannon is the new Psylocke.

I think Blindfold is the only character still dead.
They'd best fix that.
Yeah, that surprised me. I knew they undid the body swap between them, but I didn't know Kwannon was straight up back. Guess they've got plans for her now.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm glad they didn't leave her dead — this actually is the best of both worlds, since Betsy is back in her own body and we get some actual Asian representation without the weird body swap aspect.
And yeah, someone needs to bring back Blindfold asap.
Checking the images again, apparently Strong Guy is back, too.

Random thought, has Hickman ever written Deadpool?
Because seeing X-Force made me think of Deadpool, and now I'm bummed he's not in there.
The logos they're using remind me of Toonami's logo during the TOM 3 era. Me likee very much.
Also, anyone noticing the solicitation for Marauders refers to Kitty as "Kate"? Hmmmm.
Also also, yay for Sunspot being relevant again! He was cool during New Avengers and U.S.Avengers.
I don't think Hickman has ever written Deadpool. He does love Sunspot, though, as he used him in his Avengers run and made him buy AIM, which led in Al Ewing's New Avengers/US Avengers. (He also loves Cannonball and the New Mutants solicit hints that's whom they are going to see.)
Also, I love how each book has their own logo that's similar, but also different.

Lmao Hickman making Rosenberg's run filler and pointless.
Mileena Madness
Lot of interesting stuff going on and all I’m wondering is why Jean is back in her silver age costume
